DO NOT ALLOW THESE PEOPLE TO "GROOM" YOUR DOG (This is the first review I have written about any place ever). This was the worst grooming experience Ive ever had. The groomers had my dog from 10:00am until after 2:00pm today and when I brought my dog home and she jumped on me, her front paws scraped my skin badly. I looked at her front paws and saw that the nails were jagged and had been haphazardly cut, but not shaped, however, the nails on the back paws were perfectly cut and shaped. I called Scarborough and told them what I had found, thinking the groomer had made a simple mistake. A woman working there named Aileen told me that usually when dogs nails are shaped, they are put under anesthesia. I was completely shocked, because my dog is two years old and gets groomed regularly and I have never picked her up with her nails like this, much less had someone who supposedly takes care of animals for a living tell me that my dog needs to be under anesthesia for this service to take place. Aileen also suggested that I should "take my dog for a walk, because the concrete often helps shape the dogs nails." It was 96 degrees outside today and my dog is a mix that weighs just over seven pounds. I was weirded out, hung up soon after, and after thinking for a few minutes, decided that perhaps Aileen needed a visual to understand just how bad off my dogs nails (and my skin after her scratching me) were. When I got there and showed Aileen and her coworkers my dogs nails (Aileen is the only AWFUL worker -- everyone else there was really very nice and professional) Aileen stood by her comment that some good ole 96 degree walking on concrete was what my dog needed to shape the nails I had already paid to be shaped. Her coworkers also agreed that dogs need to be put under anesthesia for this service to happen. I asked Aileen why it was that my dogs back nails were shaped and not scratching me and her front nails were jagged and scratching me terribly. Aileen, straight-faced, replied: "The groomer is gone. I cant answer that." The groomer had left and it was not even 5pm. They took my dog around the back for a vet tech to have a crack at her nails and when my dog came back, her nails were exactly the same -- perhaps sharper. I am a member of PETA and the ASPCA and it would bother me greatly to know that other people are putting their pets in the hands of attendants like this. Please dont do it. I tried this place because the doctors at this hospital are such gentleman and professionals and truly seem to care for animals. I cant say the same for everyone working there, however. Again, if you like your dog even a little bit (much less love your dog the way I love mine) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW YOUR DOG TO BE GROOMED HERE. See the doctors if you need to, and then get away as fast as you can so you can avoid some hapless, careless people who are in rush to get home from mangling your dog as they did mine. Update as of 7.10.2017: My dog began licking her back left paw the day she came back from the groomers and the next day I found a cut/sore on the pad of her paw in between the webbing. She had to go to the vet and the vet said that some of her skin on her pad had been "ripped off". Attached are pictures of her taken 4 days after going to this "groomer". DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR DOG. I feel so guilty for letting this happen to my dog that I am numb. I am considering litigation in this matter.

Get ready for this review.. Its gonna be long but I have lots to say about this place! My experience at Scarbrough started when I adopted my two cats Bob and Bentley. When I adopted them the shelter gave me a list of some vet offices that offer a FREE vet exam within 14 days after adoption. About 10 days after adoption Bob got a contagious URI which Bentley also ended up getting so I called the closest office on the list (not Scarbrough).. The next available appointment was not within the 14 day time frame and they did not honor the offer, so I immediately called other offices. I then called Scarbrough and explained the situation and I immediatley got a "Dont worry about the 14 days! we dont pay attention to that!" right away I knew these people really just care about animals. Bob and Bentley ended up getting over their colds shortly after so I ended up not taking them in. Sure enough some months later I adopted another kitty (crazy cat lady), Mishka! She ended up getting the same cold as the boys but it seemed a little more serious so I ended up calling Scarbrough right away. I made an appointment for the next day :-) They are about 20 minutes from me which is a little farther then Id usually travel for a vet but I didnt have too many options. When I got there I was greeted by a nice lady at the front desk and waited no more then 2 minutes to be put into a clean, spacious room. Soon after Joanna the vet tech came in! She was very nice and helpful through my entire visit. Then shortly after Dr. Fred came in and checked out my Mishka, he was also very warm, and helpful! He sent me home with a liquid anitbotic free of charge which was really awesome of him. Lorella at the front desk was nice enough to make an exception for an awesome Groupon Grooming deal for Bentley that I misunderstood the qualifications for. Overall I had a really great experience thanks to those 3 awesome people. You can really tell these people truly care about our pets and are not just in it for the money like some other vets. I left there spending $0.00 which has NEVER happened at a vets office and they didnt try to weasel me into spending more money (that I dont have because Im a young single mom). Im confident that Mishka will be fine. Thanks again! It was definitely worth the drive. Looking foward to Bentleys grooming appointment ;-)

First of all, I need to start explaining how important my two dogs are to me... Theyre my life and nothing is more important to me than their well being. So, I took them to Scarborough for a bath through an offer I had found in Groupon, and I have to say that this was the best thing that could have happened! The staff is so friendly and accommodating, especially the girls at the front: Lorella, Adriana, Casey and Allie. They feel like friends to me, and really do worry about the well being of my pets. Their follow up after each and every visit is amazing and they absolutely go the extra mile to make sure that I’m happy and the dogs are doing well after each visit… Simply thank you girls!! Also, the premises are impeccable and the prices are VERY affordable without compromising the excellent quality of the service. Dr. Drew and Dr. Rob are simply amazing too!! They always take the time to answer my million questions with a smile on their faces at all times, and they always give me really valuable advice, tips and suggestions. I trust them so much! Claudia, the groomer is the best doggy stylist in town! All this to say that, ever since I discovered Scarborough Animal Hospital, I am never taking my furry kids anywhere else! I am extremely happy with the quality and service; and I would recommend it to everybody that takes very seriously the well being of their pets and expects only the best. Thanks to everybody at Scarbrough Animal Hospital for making each and every visit so pleasant!!
