I can not thank all the vets and staff at Gandy that helped give my dog his life back! Dr. h and his crew were phenomenal in his time of need! After visiting several local vets and 2 specialists, this hospital save my dogs life as we were told that we should put him down and that there was no hope of his condition. Rupert, had developed several concurrent diseases which complicated his health matters even worse. He had grown a tumor on his lower abdomen and no one that I visited was willing to operate on this tumor. Everyone I went to just wanted to drug him up and wait for him to die!!! I promised Rupert 1 more try and sought out Dr. Heinan for an ultrasound and his medical opinion. This man sat with me and my husband for over 2.5 hours going over labwork and various images and test results bc the last vet never sent the records that I requested until after I got to their hospital. I kept telling him, "Dont you have other patients to see?" and he said, "Yes, but you are now my priority and I will have someone else take care of that." Just like that, he put us first! and the place was packed!!! This told me right away, we found the right place, no matter the outcome! He performed Ruperts ultrasound that afternoon and I returned that afternoon to discuss everything. ANY PLACE I went too told me 2-3 weeks for an appointment for the ultrasound. AND during that time, he and a radiology specialist saw my pet and reported everything back to us! I kept telling my husband, what is going on? How is that possible, when everyone else told us otherwise! A week later, after making sure Rupert could withstand the surgery, he went under and dr. h removed this tumor. My baby was back home with us in exactly 3 days after he was cleared to leave. The picture below is my baby about a week post-surgery, he did not like that cone thingy at all! We had to get meds for him to calm him down. Note the bite marks on his cone. I am happy to say now, after just over 3 months, our Rupert is doing AMAZING!!! We sometimes feel like it was all just an awful dream until we found this place. The staff was attentive, compassionate, and even a bit funny, in their attempt in trying to calm us down and give us what hope was left. DR. heinan THANK YOU AND TO YOUR ENTIRE STAFF!!1 You are a life-saver to my Ruppie and we can not even put into words what you have done for our family. I look forward to coming to you see guys for our follow-ups and the time you have given us back with our "golden stallion"will never, ever be forgotten! Thank you!!!

First off, I am one of those pet owners that treat my dogs like children. I am overly protective and they are spoiled beyond belief. So who I take my babies to is important to me. I recently moved here, and a friend of mine has been going to this clinic since she was a kid and always spoke highly of it. So when my baby broke his leg, it was the first time Ive ever dealt with such a traumatic event, I called in balling my eyes out and whoever I spoke to kept me calm and told me what to do. The facility is clean and well kept, which for someone like me, the second I walk into an establishment I begin judging it based on cleanliness (I may or may not be a neat freak/germaphobe lol) The staff was super friendly, and not at all bothered by the thousands of questions I asked. They took him back there for me while we waited to be seen. He was examined by Dr. Heinan, they made him comfortable and scheduled surgery two days later. The Dr. explained everything to me step-by-step, which was nice. And gave me a list of options and the costs. They were even nice enough to send me a photo of him standing the day after surgery. Hes doing great now and acts like his leg was never snapped in half, and you cant even see where Dr. H did the surgery on his leg. I am so happy with the service here and will return from now on. Oh, and one of the reasons I came on here to write a review, was after talking to a friend of mine that had taken his dog to another vet for the same thing, they had charged him almost double and I got a few more services and better quality plates put in my pups leg. So, other than the great quality of work done, I couldnt be more grateful to have gotten lucky and not stuck with an unreasonably high vet bill. So, Id definitely shop around before going to any vet b/c sometimes I think people dont realize how much medical services for our four legged family members cost, especially because with human medical services those that have health insurance arent ever billed the "actual cost" of surgery, imagine having to pay full price for surgeries (which us pet owners have to do unless of course you have pet insurance, so its a huge responsibility but def worth it, i think!) Anyway, I personally had a great experience here and hope this helped!

My two Golden Retrievers have been patients of Gandy Animal Hospital and Dr. Callahan for several years now. The care my pups receive there is always first rate and I know they will be well taken care of. Below is a review of the doctors, staff, facilities and billing: Doctors: Dr. Tom Callahan is an outstanding, extremely compassionate vet...he really, REALLY cares about the health of your pet and understands the important bond we have with our furry friends. He thoroughly explains the cause of any existing issues and the care options available while NEVER trying to upsell you. Doctore rating: Enthusiastic EXCELLENT. Facilities: Very clean waiting area and exam rooms. When my dogs have spent the night the kennels appear very clean with no noticeable odors. Facility rating: VERY GOOD Staff: The techs and staff are always very kind and helpfull. A few times they appeared to be short staffed but still took the time necessary despite being pulled in a lot of direction. Staff rating: VERY GOOD / EXCELLENT Cost & Billing: Overall costs are in line with other clinics. They always give an accurate estimate so I know the costs involved before my pups are treated. However, I sometimes feel the clinic is nickel & diming me, some examples: - Charging $10 to trim nails or clean ears: If I just spent $400 on an annual wellness checkup for my dog, dont charge to trim his nails or swab his ears...are they serious? - Bloodwork: I realize lab work can be expensive, but dont charge me $10 to withdraw the blood on top of the cost of the test. If you must do that, just raise the cost of the test to cover your expenses - X-Rays: Another sometimes necessary expense, but if I spent $400 on X-rays, dont charge $20 to copy the images on a blank DVD for my records. These are relatively minor things in the big picture, but I find them very annoying. Billing rating: FAIR/GOOD Overall I rate the Gandy Animal Hospital VERY GOOD. I feel Dr. Callahan and his staff do an excellent job of caring for my pets. If only the clinic would look review the small add-ons they charge their customers I would rate them EXCELLENT.
