We have been taking our three dogs to this practice since 2005 (prior to current ownership). In all they have cared for eight dogs in these years. Erin Horner has been our primary vet. She is very good and inspires confidence with her sound advice and breadth of knowledge. The single star is because over the past two years we have had enough incidents with the office that I am seriously concerned whether our dogs will get the care they need or be the victim of very bad record keeping and poor judgment. Here are some of the many incidents that have given me pause in the last couple of years. • Repeated issues of services for one dog being listed under another dog, records missing treatments that were given etc. More specifically: • This past year, a seizure Rx was called in to the compounding pharmacy under a different dogs name. • Recently, I was told that this same dog needed a blood test for a renewed Rx. We were almost out of the medication. A day and a half later, when I didnt hear results from the vet, I called concerned that they hadn’t called me or called the pharmacy which was closing in an hour. The vet tech thought it was more important to have the blood test back (and risk a seizure) vs. calling in the Rx and changing the dose later. An added note to this poor judgement is that this dog has been on the exact same dose of seizure medication for eight years and the only problem we have is if she doesnt get the medication. • Today, I called in to get Frontline and Heartguard. When my husband went to pick up the meds there was a gal (no name tag) at the counter who was brusque and snappish right from the start. When she looked up the records, she told him that one of our dogs needed a heartworm test (this was not true). She also told him that the other two dogs weren’t patients at this location, they are patients at Mt. Vernon (never been there). My husband told the gal that I had just called in and spoken to someone and her response was “Well she didn’t talk to me.” At that point, he stormed out furious. • I went on line to the website to go to the pet portal. The link on the site is inactive so I couldn’t even check the records myself. I was later told that they switched portals or something like that but I never received a notice AND the link was still on the website as of this afternoon. • The office manager called to apologize and say the things that office managers are supposed to say. After I told her all of these experiences (above) she told me that there were data base entry errors etc. as if I should understand that it’s “to be expected”. I did tell her that in healthcare (animal or human), data base errors cause deaths. I simply cannot trust this organization to give the right care to my dogs anymore and will be switching to another better managed practice.

I have taken my siberian husky Bodhi there since he was 7 weeks old and they have been nothing but the best for his well being. They have answered all my questions, given him the best care and helped me with everything. Bodhi just turned 2 and Ive stayed with them because of the quality of care and the love they give him. No matter what doctor I have gotten, theyve been above and beyond and my appointments are right on...Not like other doctors offices we are all used to having an appointment and waiting an hour.

This place is absolutely the best. They make you and your puppy feel like family there. Dr. Vrono is the most amazing vet and if he has time to see your Dog (which he always makes) you should definitely go there. As well as all the other vets are just as good, Im just biased because Dr. Vrono helped me! This place is the BEST!

Brookhaven animal hospital is amazing. The vets here are top notch, they spend good time in the room explaining everything that is going on with your pup. Only downside to the place is sometimes reception is hit or miss, especially the older woman at the desk she is quite rude.
