The Art of Modern Dentistry was my second dentist in Chicago. (The First being Dr. Willerman who was also a one star in my opinion.) I needed to have a cavity re-filled after the original fell out. After the initial x-rays, both the dentist and hygienist talked down to me, asking me why my previous dentist didnt catch all the cavities in my mouth as though that were my fault. They belittled me for not flossing as much as I should and treated me like a five year old when they told me my insurance wouldnt cover any of the procedure I needed to have. the whole time they were explaining how much I owed them, I was watching some nature documentary on their giant TVs mounted on the wall in which an antelope was being torn apart my lions. Talk about appropriate television! Dr. Tosiou, the only dentist at their practice who took my insurance, injected me with novocain but it wasnt enough because when she started drilling I felt a lot of pain. She repeated this magic show a second time and I still felt pain. By the third injection, I was so hopped up on the adrenaline added to the pain killer that I couldnt calm down or stay in the chair. After some more drilling once I was numb, Dr. Tosiou concluded I would need a root canal, shoved medicated paste in the gaping hole in my mouth and sent me to reception without a backward glance. I honestly think she was glad to see me leave, she could not handle any level of my distress. They made me pay for half of my procedure in advance, and then a few days later called to tell me Dr. Tosiou was "leaving the practice" and they would have to refer me out to a specialist. It took them a while to understand what I was asking for when I asked for a refund. I went in on the day and time I was originally scheduled to have my procedure and while I was waiting for someone to talk with me, I could see Dr. Tosiou in the back with another patient even though she "didnt work there anymore." They told me they would write me a check and I would get it in two weeks and when I fought back, (needing the money to give the specialist to whom they referred me,) gave me a hard time about refunding it directly to my credit card saying "The bank charges us every time we swipe, we never do this, do you understand?" like this whole thing was my fault. I spoke with a dentist who said I could come back to them if I switched my insurance so one of their other dentists could see me. I told them it cost me too much and again, they asked my why my insurance was so expensive like it was my fault. If modern dentistry really is an art, this practice is the equivalent to tacky roadside motel art. Dont go here.

My fiancee and I selected this dentist for the close proximity to our residence in the South Loop. My fiancee had two insurance policies. The office presented her with a treatment plan totaling $1600. Half was to be covered by her primary insurance plan. The office then refused to bill her secondary plan leaving it to our responsibility. It turned out that the office did not verify coverage properly. The found out that Michelles initial policy was not covered at their office. The office then refused to place her permanent on-lay until she paid another $3200 in cash. The office reneged on their the total cost of the treatment plan and more than DOUBLED it to a total cost of nearly $4000!!! They refused to bill our secondary policy which is even recommended by the ADA. Then, my fiancees on-lay fell out and cracked twice. The dentist stated that the would replace the onlay with a crown. They stated there would be no extra out of pocket cost. Shortly after the procedure, a bill came for $262! It was their fault that the onlay fell out twice and they said we wouldnt be charged again. If this office cant hire staff to properly bill dental insurance companies, why should I trust the dentist who hired the staff to do competent work? The answer is that I just can not. I am in the process of filing a complaint for consumer fraud with the Illinois Attorney General and the Board of Dentistry. If there was a way to give ZERO stars, I would.

I specifically told them I only wanted to get procedures done that would be covered by my insurance. The assured me that they called and said my insurance works there. 1. They constantly tried upselling and wanted me to get services that cost 2K. 2. They refused to provide me a general cleaning that a repeatedly requested for. She explained that I would require a step above a general cleaning which was a soft tissue cleaning. AND IT WOULD COST $2000. 3. They said they would send me my x-rays within 48hrs. I requested for it after the 48hr period, still have not got them. 4. When my bill came, they said my insurance was not compatible and would not cover x-rays or the examination. 5. Her examination consisted of her looking into my mouth and touching 2 parts of my gum. NOTHING ELSE. Ive have many dental examinations in my life, and hers a 2 year old could do. She diagnosed me as healthy. 6. She really talked on and on saying how she was one of the rare doctors that would explain everything to her patients, and that she truly cared. All words and none of it in actions. 7. Now Im stuck battling my insurance company and them to try not to pay a freaking huge bill. I pay $200 a year for dental insurance, and my bill for this year is $200. 8. Even as I was on the examination chair, she assured me that her staff checks to make sure their locations only accepts patients with insurance. NEVER GOING HER AGAIN. bunch of scam artists.

Ok not sure how this place received 2 out 30. They should have received 1 out 30 (or negative if possible). Here is my store. I went for a regular teeth check (I was new to town and this place was close). my appointment was at 11 AM and I waited until 1 PM (there was no emergency they just love to overbook, fast money for them). The doctor saw my teethes and she recommended to change the fillings . I setup a new appointment (2 week from the visit). in my second appointment I waited also 2 hours this time with no sorry or excuses. from 11:30 AM till 4:30pm to change 3 tooth fillings . After that I received horrible teeth sensitivity to cold that lasted 2 years. Every time I went back and discuss it with the doctor about my teeth sensitivity they will tell me it was normal and try a sensitivity toothpaste. Yesterday I went to a new dentistry(Downtown Dental ) (cheaper but had excellent reviews and rated on of the best dentistry in Chicago). Discussed with him what happened and he recommended to change my fillings. After 1 visit into the dentistry my teethes sensitivity that last 2 years were gone!! .The next morning I didnt feel any sensitivity to cold or hot drink. Not sure in Art of modern dentistry what kind of doctors they have but I highly recommend for anyone health and money (they are overprice) DONT go to them EVER. There are plenty of highly skilled dentistry clinic in Chicago and this place is not one of them.
