We have a 5 1/2 yr old Mini doxie that had emergency spinal surgery April 2nd at another clinic due to a herniated disc which caused severe paraparesis. We were scheduled to leave on vacation in two weeks later and would have had to cancel if it werent for Dr. Buchanan and his staff. I frantically searched for a clinic that was staffed 7 days a week and willing to care for a special needs patient. I stopped in and met Dr. and his staff. Explained my situation and what I needed. His response was that his staff would be more than willing and capable to care for our puppy during our vacation and board him and our 2 1/2 yr old doxie in an area where they will be closely monitored. Other clinics I spoke with gave me the impression that it would be an inconvenience. Animal Care Center of Shorewood has two new patients, DeOGie and Coda! Most recently Coda wasnt acting right and was experiencing the same symptoms that DeOGie had before his ruptured disc so we took him in to see Dr. Buchanan. Coda normally doesnt like the Vet but Dr. Buchanan doesnt have any problems with him. After the exam it was determined that he had pulled a muscle and prescribed some meds. Best part is that we werent charged for the office visit! Animal Care Center of Shorewood cares more about caring for pets than the money!

My Addison 13 year old Weimaraner Mix became very ill and I thought she was going to die. I had heard fabulous comments on Animal Care Center of Shorewood. I searched the internet for information. The hours are so convenient. The facility is beautiful, clean and very welcoming. The staff was caring and compassionate. When Dr. Buchanan came i to see Addison; he was very gentle but complete in his initial examination. He explained everything to us. He showed us the x-rays and described what had happen. Addison had emergency surgery. After the surgery, Dr. Buchanan again took the time to explain everything to us and the post op care.He took his time (even though he had already been working for almost 12 hours) I highly recommend Dr. Buchanan, his staff (I wish I knew each of their names to commend them as well), and the facility.

Everyone from the front office staff to Dr Buchanan are exceedingly exceptional! Everyone is very friendly and personable! My dog was dealing with skin irritation under her chin for months- our previous vet tried multiple treatment options which didnt work and shrugged it off to it being other options and basically my fault. Not only did the treatment options after coming here help her condition clean up quickly and stay away- they constantly go the extra mile to make sure past issues are still doing well and give me tips to continue care without feeling told I am doing something wrong with my dog I care truly about. I would recommend this vet clinic to anyone looking for a vet! We have found our forever vet! I used to even travel from Orland Park to come here!

The Animal Care Center of Shorewood is an amazing organization. The dedicated employees love the animals wholeheartedly, and are very knowledgeable about caring for animals for new pet owners. They go above and beyond to find potential adopters the right addition to their family and ensure the transition from their shelter to the animals new home is as smooth as possible by following up via emails and phone calls and supplying help when needed. One employee let us spend an hour with our new dog Benny before we adopted him. I wish all shelters could be run like this one. The animals in their care and truly lucky to be there. Keep up the great work!

My dog was having seizures about once a month. I had taken him to our normal vet and called them several times. They did nothing for him... I was told about animal care center and brought him in after a 10 min seizure on that visit the prescribed something for him in case he had another one, they also had me keep record of his seizures. All it took was for my for baby to have 2 more and they didnt hesitate to start him on medication. The doctor called and spoke to me personally and explained everything to me. My baby has only had 1 seizure in the last 6 months.... happy mommy

The Animal Care Center in Shorewood is close, convenient, with a wonderful array of Veterinarians. The staff members customer service skills are outstanding and the center is NEVER crowded unlike their 24 hr Plainfield location. In addition to the centers veterinary services, they also offer boarding, doggie day care, grooming, and obedience classes. If youre not in need of emergency services after normal business hours, bring your beloved pet to the Shorewood location. Trust me - you will not be sorry and youll be glad you got out of there within the hour!

Dr. Buchanan at the Animal Care Center of Shorewood was wonderful! I am always a bit nervous introducing our German Shepard mix to new people. Dr. Buchanan told me that I was more scared than he was and plopped down on the floor with Beau. We brought Beau in because he was miserable from allergies. After a skin scrape test Dr. Buchanan perscribed meds to alleviate the itch and make Beau comfortable. We have been trying to find relief for Beau for months - sincere thanks to Dr. Buchanan and the Shorewood Animal Care Center. We will return for Beaus care.

We adopted a kitten here earlier this month and we could not have asked for a better experience! We came from an hour away so we really needed everything to go right so we didnt have to make a second trip. The staff was awesome! Every person we dealt with made sure that the whole process was smooth! We could also tell that the kitten we adopted (Archie) was well taken care of (and spoiled) during his time there! I recently acquired a dog from a friend and thought I would try out Animal Care Center of Shorewood due to convenient location. I was impressed by the facility (very clean and remodeled from previous business) and the staff (friendly and professional). I have not boarded my dog there yet, but wanted a vet clinic that could board and give the best care for my dog. My initial experience at this veterinary care center have been excellent.( I give four stars because I have only had one visit and have not boarded my dog yet. )

I found my newest baby on PetFinder who was at this shelter. The staff were very friendly and caring, and they were quite knowledgeable about him. They shared medical information and provided pain medication for him, since he is a senior dog and has issues. I am so happy to say he has not needed the medication and has had little to no symptoms from his issues and is a very happy boy now that he is in his forever home and receiving the love and good care he deserves. Please support this shelter and please adopt!

I recently adopted a puppy that became ill after about a week at home. I took her in and they nursed her to health! Dr. Buchanan and Alyssa were particularly fantastic. They trully care about their animals and their families. I will definitely consider them for future adoptions and would enlist them as my vet for all of my pets if they were located in closer proximity to my home. If I ever need a second opinion, I will absolutely reach out to them for their guidance on the care of my pets.
