Shame on you, North Shore Skokie Valley. I wouldnt recommend your services to anyone!!! Your communication with family is reprehensible. Your actions are inexcusable!!! My Mother spent 5 days at the North Shore Skokie Valley where she received excellent care in the ER department. She was moved to a room and this is where the problems started. After she was admitted to the floor we tried to talk with the nurse regarding her dementia, diabetes and medications she was on. We were continuously being interupted by his communication device. He was either saying, "make a call" or accepting calls from other nurses. After 30 minutes he received another call and ran out of the room. To make a long story short, the hospital changed most of my Moms meds. They took her off her two dementia drugs and put her on an anti-psychotic drug. We had no knowledge that all of this transpired until she was brought back to the home she had been at for respite care while my Father was in the home for hip replacement surgery recovery. The nursing home recognized that she was a totally different person than she had been a week prior. The home asked why all her meds had been changed and I said "what?" North Shore Skokie Valley NEVER advised my Father or myself that her meds were being changed. She was diagnosed with a Urinary Tract infection 2 days after she left the hospital. They changed her insulin, her dosages and the times she received her insulin. They did all of this without calling or telling us on our visits to the Hospital. We heard nothing from her doctor until the day of discharge. The nursing home called the doctor 5 days after they had had Mom to ask why Mom was put on an anti psychotic and not her dementia medications and the doctor said I didnt know she was on them. My Mother has been a patient in the North Shore system for 40 plus years. How dare you say you dont know what she was on!!! My Mother is walking on her own once again and is doing 200 per cent better than when she was admitted to Skokie Valley. I really think your doctors and nurses need training on Dementia patients. Dementia patients cannot answer questions about their own health, as I continuously reminded your nurses. Once again, shame on you, and beware if you bring your loved ones to this non-caring, uncommunicative health care facility!!!

I was referred to the hospital to see a specialist by my primary care doc in Evanston. The specialist was fine; the support staff is wretched. They didnt put in an Rx for me (when it was clearly noted that the reason for this Rx involved "bright red blood"...uhm, important much?), completely misinformed me as to whether or not the Rx could be sent to my local pharmacy after it had been compounded by a pharmacy in Skokie, resulting in me waiting for a full two weeks before actually getting the medication prescribed me. When my Rx was put through, NorthShore provided the pharmacy with my *emergency contact*s number, rather than mine. So my mother received a call regarding a question about a medication for me from the compounding pharmacy, and called me, very worried, to find out what was amiss. I had questions about the necessity of a procedure, and it took two days of multiple phone calls per day, for my question to be vaguely answered, even though I asked repeatedly for the nurses to leave me a detailed message, as Im the only one who answers my cell. That answer being that I needed to consult another specialist for a more informed opinion...which means Id have to get my records sent over. Ok, no problem. I called and asked for my records to be sent, and provided all necessary information. I called the receiving doctor a few days later to confirm that they had received my records, and no, they hadnt. I called NorthShore, was informed that there was no note of my request, and thus no note as to why it hadnt been completed....and then was transferred to Records, and then transferred to Radiology, and promptly informed that they couldnt send records without written consent. I was about to be hung up on, before I managed to slip in the question of whether I needed to physically sign the form in person, or whether I could do it via email. "*Sigh*, yeah, I guess email consent will work." Honestly, this is the most incompetent staff I have ever dealt with. And its not a single person. Given the breadth of my experiences, its endemic to Gastroenterology, and based on other reviews, I suspect it encompasses the whole of NorthShore Skokie.

“Im a 67 years old professional Rock climber and Mountaineer. I started having problems on my shoulder several years ago but just ignored the problem. I live in NY and searched around the country to find a doctor that performed multiple shoulder replacements and understood sports medicine. I chose Dr. Steve Levin in January of 2017. He was very good at explaining to me the situation and my options and explained to me what to expect concerning the operation. I had my left shoulder done on February 23. Dr. Levin and the surgery staff were great. They helped put any concerns to rest and did all they could to make me feel comfortable before surgery and in recovery. The overall experience was beyond what I would have expected. In a day and age when it seems like everything is impersonal and some are just in it for the money, Dr. Levin and his staff exhibited a lost virtue: that of genuine concern and wanting to help others. They truly care about the individual and their needs. When I needed assistance with getting information they made the time to help me out right then and not put me off. When I needed advice about PT, they took care of it on the spot. When I would come into the office I noticed that they greeted every person with a smile and concern about their situation. This went a long way in making me feel comfortable and at ease. Once again I would like to personally thank Dr. Steve Levin and his wonderful staff.

First I have to say I love my ddoctos which is why I put up with the hospital. Calling and asking a question is always a chore and I rarely get an answer to my question. Registration also takes general calls so they tend to be bothered either that you are on the phone or that your at their desk since they also have to deal with the other. I called to ask if a breast mri is in the breast center or in radiology. After calling 3 times and being transferred twice I was asked to check in and register when I got there. I explained someone was meeting me and I wanted to let them know where to meet me I was asked my name and other information so they could look me up. Then I was told "check in when you get here and then we will instruct you where to go." I again asked what department the test would be in and was told the same thing. My friend waited in the car for my test to conclude. Its stressful enough when you have to have more extensive testing let alone having people deliberately not answer your questions. This has been an issue for years. Simple questions are only answered by your physician who I wouldnt bother with something so simple. Good luck keeping your blood pressure ddow.
