I went to Advanced Eyecare a few weeks ago because my regular check-up was overdue and I was having irritation in my eye. The overall doctors visit went smoothly, and the doctor was friendly. I was a little surprised that the contact exam cost $90, but I didnt have anything to compare it to. After talking with a friend, I found out that the contact exam at Whylie in Johnston was $45. They ended up giving me two contact types to trial and see which ones worked with my eyes the best. I had earlier offered to call to give them the name of the contacts that previously worked very well for me, but they said that wasnt necessary. Neither trial pair seemed to fit my eye very well, so this was discouraging considering that I didnt get to try the previous pair that I had used. This made me put off rescheduling a follow-up - I wasnt sure if they would charge me for another appointment since I wasnt satisfied with either lens. I then received a charge from the Advanced Eyecare for the general eye exam that should have been covered under my insurance company. I called to question about the charges and the front desk employee not only didnt provide me with an answer to my question, but was also very short and rude to me over the phone. I know that with phone support, thoughts and conversations can be lost since much of communication is visual. However, I do not like working with companies that are difficult to do business with, so I decided to go with a different eye care center to order my contact lenses. To do this, I needed contact prescription information, which they were unable or unwilling (not sure which one) to provide me with - not even just over the phone, but in person. I ended up having to re-do my contact evaluation because of this. The front desk women at the new eyecare center sounded shocked that Advanced wouldnt provide me with this information. Im sure that Advanced Eyecare Center has been good for many people, but the bad experiences are the ones cause businesses to lose customers and referrals.

I had a great experience here this morning! I bought my glasses from one of the big mall-based chain stores, and theyre very good about selling you glasses. However, recently the frame separated from the lenses on one side of the pair I use most often. It looked to me like all that was needed was to replace a small plastic connector. I took the glasses back to the chain store and a salesman took about ten seconds to tell me theres no way they could be repaired. I pointed out that it looked like a simple repair and he still sent me away. The next day I looked for a store closer to my home and found Advanced Eye Care. I took the glasses in and they fixed them in about 15 minutes! They will have my business the next time I need new glasses or repairs.

We ordered glasses and sunglasses from here.... Both came late, with no apology. When we got the sunglasses the lens were messed up, and instead of apologizing and getting them remade they fought with us and forced us to take them to the lab ourselves. Two days after we were supposed to get the remade sunglasses back they called (after our repeated calls) and said they had screwed up again, and would be in in a week. After a week and a half they called and finally had them. When we picked them up they didnt so much as apologize for the hassle we had to go through. We ended up waiting a full month longer than quoted. I would never, ever return to this business or recommend it to anyone.

Very happy with the service from the doctor and the help in the lobby. I also went in on a saturday to look at eye glasses and the way they worked with everyone that came in and knew most by name really made it feel small town, I like that!
