Until yesterday I had been very satisfied with my experience at Westwood Animal Hospital. My loving, sweet cat of almost 8 years became very ill over night. I came home on my lunch to check on him and he was basically unresponsive. He couldnt move, blink and was barely breathing. I called Westwood immediately and explained the situation. I was put on hold and after a minute or so the reception explained that they couldnt see me until 4pm. It was around 1pm when I called. I tried to convey how serious this was and that I really wasnt comfortable waiting, to which she said the just couldnt get me in and that theyd call if they had an opening. Needless to say, that was unacceptable to me. Not only was my cat suffering but what if there had been something they could have done? I DO NOT understand how they couldnt find a way to move back someones visit for an emergent situation. I will NOT go back to Westwood as result of this situation. I was eventually able to reach Vetgo ( a mobile vet service) who came straight to my home and unfortunately, helped me say goodbye to my sweet Sampson. I cant explain what a difficult situation that is to handle without feeling like your "awesome vet" couldnt fit you in. I was crushed, angry and completely floored by the turn of events. Please DO NOT take your pets to this vet. Of course they are a business but they also have a job to be compassionate and available when you need them. This was a terrible failure on their part. On a final note, they did call me back at 4:15 to see if I still wanted my appointment and to see if Id decided what to do about my cat, Actual phrase left on my voicemail. I almost wish I had answered to explain that my Sampson had already passed and that they were about 3 hours late.

Very clean, professional, and courteous. Dr. Carr examined my cat, a former stray. He vaccinated her with out checking to see if she was pregnant. Ten days later when I take her in to be spayed I found that she is pregnant and the vaccination most likely left the kittens with brain damage. He wanted to charge me over 700 dollars to remove the kittens. KC spay and neuter is going to charge me 60 dollars but may refuse to operate if they are too far along. I no longer have the option to allow the kittens to be born because I cant keep them and no one will want kittens that are brain damaged and cant walk properly. I could have had them removed 10 days ago when they werent as far along if had he checked to see if my cat was pregnant.

We have taken all our pets to Westwood Animal Hospital for almost 20 years now, several cats and a dog. They are the most professional, courteous, and attentive veterinarian weve dealt with, and weve used several others over the years previously. Dr. Beyer and Dr. Hunthausen are wonderful, simply wonderful, as is their medical staff, their boarding staff and facilities, and their behavioral trainers. We receive incredibly personal service from them, and they care for our pets like they were their own. Our son now takes his kitty there too and is very happy. We go out of our way to travel 30 minutes to get there, thats how good they are. USE THEM!!!

I have taken my German shepherd to Westwood Animal Hospital since we first got her at 6 weeks old. The staff is friendly, professional, and it is apparent they care about the pets they provide service for. When Dr Carr gave Bella her rabies vaccination, the doctor put peanut butter on a tongue depressor and had me give it to her while he gave her the shot. They do everything they can to provide a positive experience for your pet. I also attended their puppy class. Donna Lane was an excellent trainer, and as a result of the class, we have a well socialized, obedient dog who loves interacting with dogs and people. Very satisfied customer!

My rescued Siamese cats over the years have been in great hands since the Westwood Animal Hospital moved to the neighborhood. They have seen all the doctors there at one time or another and have always been very comfortable in their company. Recently rescued a couple of feral Siamese mix cats and they too are nuts about Uncle Wayne Hunthausen. The female unfortunately had to have surgery due to a bullet wound from her past life not healing properly. She cruised through that like a champ due to the expertise of the doctors at this organization. These folks are the BEST. My cats tell me so. =:o > =:o >

Westwood has been our dog wellness partner for 20 years and over the lives of 4 of our adopted and rescued dogs. Always welcoming, always professional, and always there for us during good times and the not so good ones. The front staff are trusted advisors even thought Emily and Stephanie must think Im a nuisance caller by now. Dr.s Hunthausen and Byer offer lowkey, practical, and humorous advice and a wonderfully gentle touch for some of our schiztier pets. And Mary is a marvelous trainer. Dont know all the staff by name but assume they are just as wonderful as the folks Ive mentioned above.

After the 4th of July this year, our two year old mixed breed became terrified of going outside, and additionally seemed scared to be at our house. Luckily, we were referred to Dr Hunthausen. After our initial visit, he provided us with tips and tricks to reduce his fears of our home. Dr Hunthausen gave us the dog we were used to back! Additionally, the staff is amazing! They are quick to answer any questions weve had, and if they are unable to answer a question, Dr Hunthausen is prompt to answer them for you. Thank you Dr Hunthausen and everyone at Westwood animal hospital!

Weve taken our dog to Westwood Animal Hospital since adopting him from the KC Pet Project. Every experience has been great! All the doctors are wonderful at listening to our concerns, asking questions and explaining their diagnosis and/or recommendations. The staff is also great! They remembered our dog after boarding just one time and give him lots of love and attention! When we first adopted Riggins, we lived very close to the practice. Since that time, weve moved further south and still make the trip to Westwood for all our veterinary needs!

From the phone call to schedule an appt for my Pooch till the time we left I felt as if I was a lifelong patient of Westwood, however it was out first visit. The office is clean, the staff is friendly, the Veterinarian was nice, great with my Pooch, and explained everything. We ended up having to schedule a surgery procedure for my Pooch and we were provided an cost estimate before leaving so I knew how far out to scheduled the appt. All in all, we will not be switching vets - Westwood is my #1 pick!

Great Animal Hospital -- they get us in and out in seconds flat, which everyone appreciates. Dr. Carr is the vet Ive met with most and he goes out of his way to understand and address my dogs problems and then follows up. People care should be so good! Mary Kline is great, too. Even though our household is an Obedience School Drop Out, we got a lot out of the classes we attended and shes got a really great understanding of dogs and their people and our behaviors. Her classes are highly recommended.
