We went to this vet many years ago for our pather chameleon and overall had a decent experience. However, things are now awful. AWFUL. And beware of all the great reviews—they give people a $10 or $15 credit for leaving a review! There are signs posted about it in their offices. My sisters bearded dragon was behaving oddly and turning bright yellow (yellow skin disease, I later learned no thanks to this vet) and we wanted to take it to the vet before the infection spread and he got worse. Well, we had an appointment made a couple of days in advanced. We showed up 10 minutes early to a dirty, dank, and gross looking office. We were led to a freezing cold exam room (seriously, I wasnt able to take my coat and hat off or anything, this was in early ish winter) where we waited FOR FORTY FIVE MINUTES despite there being only apparently one other person there. This freezing cold office was obviously a horrible place for my cold blooded bearded dragon. My hands were icy, and obviously my lizard was freezing and super lethargic as a result of being left on a feeezing cold steel table for 45 minutes. The vet told me the lizard was super lethargic and that the problem with his health was that he wasnt being kept warm enough!!! No, he has two heat lamps, basking spots, and an ideal cage at home! He was lethargic because of their horrible office conditions and lack of care for their clients/patients. He ignored completely my main concern of him TURNING YELLOW and told me to give him a lamp and feed him more at home. He could use a bit more protein and we did up that to see a tiny bit of improvement. But he was never lethargic like that at home in his cage, he just had odd behavior! He still ran around and ate plenty! This vet ignored everything I said, assumed I was totally ignorant and a bad owner! How on earth a VET could leave a cold blooded animal to freeze then have the audacity (or stupidity?) to say "oh hes so lethargic!" Is beyond me. They did a fecal test for parasites (supposedly, this took him back and I had NO WAY whatsoever of knowing if he actually did the test) and claimed he had parasites and gave him a shot for it. They gave him a calcium injection as well (again, supposedly). Oh, and then pointed out how the warm water from the enema made him more lively so clearly the issue is lack of heating lamps at home?! Absolutely unacceptable and just plain STUPID. Left with a bill for $184, and a lizard he said would almost certainly die by the morning. Well here we are some months later still batting this infection, but with an otherwise healthy lizard. Too bad we can no longer afford a real vet to help kick this infection that this vet ignored.... even when I asked three times about it. Gross place with unthinking employees. NEVER again will I risk my pets health here.

Pros: - The front desk ladies were nice - Receiving a card after the death of my Bearded Dragon Cons: - NOT CLEAN AT ALL - Smelled of cigarettes - Doctor and nurse didnt wash their hands - Really expensive for a short appointment and little care towards my Bearded Dragon - Doctor farted - Doctor was very rough on my Bearded Dragon I brought my Bearded Dragon to this vet and when I walked in the first thing I noticed was not only the smell of animals and cigarette smoke. In addition the place was wasnt clean. When I went to the front desk the two older ladies reeked of cigarettes. Since I already had an appointment and they nobody was waiting, my beardie and I were immediately brought to brought back to the office where I then placed my my Bearded Dragon on the table. The vet was very rough when he picked up my Bearded Dragon and he never washed his hands. Since my beardie was sick he was very weak and couldnt hold himself. The doctor the put my beardie on his back to check his belly and give him a shot. My Bearded Dragon was freaking out because of the shot and the doctor being rough. A nurse came in and took my beardie to another room where the doctor said he will be hooked up to an air tank to help him breath so I couldnt see what they were doing to my beardie. I never heard or saw the nurse wash her hands before or after taking care of my beardie. The doctor then told us that he knows what the problem is and that my Beardie has a 30% chance of living then brought in a bag of liquid medicine and food supplement. While we talking the doctor farted very loud and acted like he didnt hear it. He continued to tell us the problem with my beardie and how to take care of him. As showed me how to feed him the supplements and medicine he took the syringe of food and forced it into my beardies mouth. He placed my Bearded Dragon back in the box I was carrying him in and dropped him into the box an inch from the bottom. My Bearded Dragon looked very stiff and traumatized. The doctor told me to make bi-weekly appointments. When I went to the desk to check out one lady told me I hope he feels better and gets well soon. The price of everything was a little over $150 dollars for a 27 min appointment and medicines a I did all the proper instructions given to me by the doctor and the next day my Bearded Dragon died. The next day I called the veterinary office to tell them about my lose of my beardie and cancelling my appointment. A couple days later I received a card saying "Im sorry for your lose".

Ive been going to Veterinary Associates Stonefield for over seven years. Even after I moved from Middletown to the Highlands seven months ago, I continued to take my cats here, despite the drive. Boy, am I glad I did. I will never go to another vet after the last few months. Dr. Vaughn has saved the lives of two of my cats in the last two months. My oldest cat, Wakko, just turned 14, and I have Sam and his staff to thank. He presented with vomiting, we all thought it was an infection. After a day of no improvement, I brought him back in. While Sam and his staff were prepping Wakko for X-rays, he crashed. His heart rate dropped from 100 to 20 in under a minute. Sherri, one of the techs, saw what was happening, they all reacted quickly, and they kept his heart from stopping. After a couple of days in the kitty ICU, Wakko had a diagnosis of severe pancreatitis (treatable), he was home, on hypoallergenic food, and is now acting like a kitten again. This past week, my 17 month old, Gandalf, had a severe reaction to a vaccine. Its a rare thing in cats. Once again, Sam and team reacted quickly and bought me enough time to get him to the kitty hospital. Sam called and texted me frequently, including when he himself was going in for a medical procedure, to update me on Gandalfs progress. He is now home and back to his old self. Sam and his team really care, and Sam has worked miracles!

I scheduled an appointment to have my bird looked at for a possible broken wing. When the doctor came in he had what appeared to be powdered doughnut on the front of his scrub top, and drinking an open can of soda. Not the picture of hygiene one would expect from a clinical setting. He examined my bird, and explained the bird would need an x-ray. I proceeded to ask a question (after all, Im the owner and paying customer), and the doctor paused, smiled, and said "lets just get the x-ray done first, shall we?" It felt very patronizing. When I asked how much it would cost, I got what I felt to be a "you-dont-care-about-your-pet" look, and was informed I could get an estimate, which I felt was way overpriced. I didnt care for the attitude of this clinic. It felt as though I was the one wasting THEIR time. I felt as though I had interrupted their lunch, or something, despite my scheduled appointment. Furthermore, my young son was with me, and I felt there was an opportunity squandered to incite the interest of a young mind with this experience. If this doctor is as impassioned about his "calling" as his online bio states he is, then Im missing something. In the meantime, Ill take my business elsewhere.
