FEELS MORE LIKE A USED CAR DEALERSHIP THAN A DOCTORS OFFICE. Unprofessional staff and shady business practices. The staff is rude and uninterested in providing any kind of quality service as evidenced by them being on personal phone calls, speaking crassly with one another, and having the general attitude of not caring about anyone patronizing the business. I used the word shady because after verbally confirming that my exam would be X dollars, I was then charged a separate, significant fee for "contact fitting". I have confirmed (through another Practitioner) that this fee is not uncommon, although each Practice is free to set this cost as they wish. This business has decided to neglect mentioning this fee up front, and to charge as much as they can. Combined this with the fact that after deciding not to do further business with the them, they refuse to forward my Rx to the online retailer I have chosen to order my contacts from! My eye exam was 11 months ago, and from what I understand my Rx should be good for 2 years. Now Ill need to go there personally to sort this out. Its just a bad business that seems like their trying to suck every penny out of your insurance carrier, as well as any additional fees they can scam you right from your wallet. They seem like theyre trying to game the system. Sorry, I am looking for an honest doctor that is less concerned about squeezing every dollar from me, and more concerned with quality care. I dont want my interactions with a doctor to feel like Im shopping at a shady used car dealership. AVOID.

If you call, ask questions. A lot of them. Ask some twice. I called in Monday to make an appointment for an eye exam. Me: hi, Id like to make an appointment for an eye exam. Employee: you dont have to, we are taking walkins from now until the end of the year. Me: ok great. So, I can come in any time this week like Wednesday or Thursday early afternoon? Employee: yes, any day. Me: thank you! Today at lunch, I walked there from my office to get an exam. I walk in the front door and am greeted with an abrupt "can I help you?"... Me: hi, Id like to get an eye exam Employee: you have to come back another day. We dont have a doctor on Wednesday. And its best if you make an appointment. Me: I called Monday morning to make an appointment and was told I could walk in any day. I even asked about today. Wednesday. Ummmm.....my bad for not reading reviews but cmon. Get it together a little bit. If you dont have doctors on certain days and you tell people then can just walk in, itd be nice to say "you can walk in any day except Wednesday."

Ive visited 3 locations. ..Ellicott City being the best. The front desk associates on Park Ave & Garrison/Gwynn falls are kind..not in the professional sense but more personal. having side conversations...eating...family members present ...personal phone calls..joking as if we are friends. I havent felt like a priority there in years. Dr Gordon (father) probably gave me the most attention and made me feel most comfortable. I only have my eyes examined there bc the glasses are too exoensive for me but they do have a nice selection

When I went to Barenburg Eye Associates I was told by the receptionists that I would only be charged a $10 copay, however after my visit I was told that I would be charged an additional $75 dollars for a contact lens fitting fee. Additionally, I did not undergo a contact lens fitting and did not even get to try on a single pair of contact lenses. This office has hidden fees and horrible business practices. I have gone to several places to get contact lenses in the past and have never been charged a "fitting fee".

Some awful staff, some great staff. The front desk staff always tends to have horrible customer service. I have had wonderful experiences with Dr. Joshua Gordon and Dr. Vekker, who both really listened to my needs and concerns and took the time to examine my eyes and find the right contacts for me. I had an awful experience with another of the doctors there who rushed through the exam and gave me the wrong prescription.

Horrible!! please listen to the reviews! DO NOT GO THERE 1st visit: The owner of the practice had an argument with his wife, shouting at her on his cell phone right next to me! extremely disrespectful staff and disorganized I was fitted for glasses when i came to get contacts. I had to go back 3 other times for the same issue. Please do yourself a favor and do not go to this place

I have been going hear for years and when i say years i started going when i was 25 i am now 36 me and my 3 daughters go hear we ❤❤❤ it i am reading some of these commit about the staff and i cant belive what i am reading my family havent had no bad experience yet with this eye doctor place.

Poor Customer Service.... After having an apointment and interacting with the staff, I have found that some of the front desk staff are rude and they take a long time to get things done.
