My hospital stay at the Cape Cod Hospital and my treatment by the doctors, staff and "most" nurses was excellent. I was treated by the doctors, staff and "most" nurses with total courtesy and respect. The one and only rude, uncaring and completely disrespectful nurse that I encountered was a nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. She was my nurse in the Intensive Care Unit after my cardiac surgery. She entered my room shortly after my cardiac surgery and asked a few questions while I was still groggy and just awakening from the sedation/anesthesia of my surgery. Upon completion of her questioning she stated in a condescending, matter-of-fact tone, "YOU KNOW A SIMPLE PLEASE AND THANK YOU WILL TAKE YOU A LONG WAY HERE". As she departed I said, under my breath, "WHAT AN A-HOLE". She apparently heard my comment and she escalated the situation by going out into the hallway in a rage informing the nearby staff of my comment and how insulted she was. Several staff members and aids came to my doorway looking at me angrily and disparagingly. One aid commented to another, "SHOULD WE CALL SECURITY?" (Security was called). Although I requested another nurse after this completely unnecessary incident was somewhat resolved, my request was ignored and the visibly angry nurse continued as my supposed care taker. She was unethical, vengeful and vindictive toward me for the remainder of my time in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. I will not go into details, at this time, but be assured her actions toward me were unreasonable, harsh and punitive. An experience I thought I would never experience from a "professional nurse" that supposedly practices that the inherent dignity, worth and unique attributes of each and every person matter.

My 30 week pregnant wife came in with a heart of 120 difficulty breathing and pelvic pain. 33 hours later 4 test we were sent home. To receive a phone call from a nurse with blood results which stated high kidney function and high white blood cell count even for a pregnant woman. And her words "seems like we did a bad job by you today. Sorry hope you feel better" it was not this womans fault how horribly my wife was treated. 13 hours in the ER half waiting for a room. Sent to the cardiac unit at 11pm received a test at 10 waited 4 more hours to have an OB doctor come in and say "you dont need to see the cardiologist hes to busy and I know your blood test will be fine so Im canceling the urine test" he didnt even cancel it he just didnt do it. The woman that called was waiting for it and had no idea it was canceled. then waited 4 more hours to get discharged. All told 33 hours 4 test 1 "canceled" test and a canceled meeting with the cardiologist because he was busy and she didnt need it. And an OB who was wrong with his opinion on blood results. Then a phone call by a nurse who admitted they did a bad job. We have wasted 2 days my wifes in pain and her heart is pumping double the normal amount. It is one thing to make a mistake. Its another to just not care. Your doctors you dont get to mail it in when you feel like it. I Wil be calling every number on their list tomorrow and giving each person an earful. Im taking my wife to Beth Israel in Boston for some real doctors that care!!

Incredibly disappointed with the quality of care I received at Cape Cope Hospital. I arrived with some of the worst pain I have ever felt due to aspiration pneumonia. I thought my lung had collapsed. The ER did a good job helping me to breathe and get my pain under control, but after being admitted things quickly took a turn. From that point on for the next 48 hours I did not see a doctor. My condition proceeded to deteriorate over the next 24 hours and my pain level rose back to the original level. Despite several pleas for help, I was continually told "its not time yet" until I finally broke down into a nurses arms. Later that day, my nurse practitioner tried to discharge me. I refused, and she was visibly displeased with my answer. It became clear to me that I wasnt going to be getting the quality of care that I would expect. The next day I asked her to write me some prescriptions for pain (which she did) so I could transfer to a hospital that is more patient centric. A day later and Cape Cod Hospital will not release my medical records to me, or to my primary care physician - despite signing the release forms and multiple pleas from my wife and myself. Unless its life or death, do not go to Cape Cod Hospital. Better off driving a little further to Beth Israel Deaconess in Plymouth. Cape Cod Hospital is focused on making money, and to make money you need to churn patients though the beds. You dont make money when you focus on quality of care.

The ER department will abuse patients and give treatment or diagnostic tests the patient refuses and doesnt need. This is a nice hospital inside with nice staff working there in the main hospital department. The reason why I am giving this 1 star is they have some of the worst Emergency room staff I have seen in my life.I had a family member who was in there who refused certain treatments like Ct scans and lots of Xrays which was not neccesary. It says you have a right to as a patient to refuse any treatment you want but the doctor and nurses will lie to you and do it against your will and against your rights as a patient. They will drug you up so you are sleeping not knowing what is going on and do what you told them you dont want done to you and then bill you for it for thousands of dollars and expose you to massive doses of radiation which they later find out there is nothing unusual they found in the needless tests..What a disgrace. The ER department will abuse patients in there like they did to a family member of mine.Like I said they will lie to you about what is wrong with you and about your treatment if you ask them.I dont like or trust liars especially ones working in hospitals because your life is on the line with them. They abuse lots of patients in this Emergency room department of this hospital,

You wanna talk about rude and disorganized i went for a rather embarrasing situation which id rather not discuss and the front reception person was wonderful. Then everything changed i got into the room and was told to change into the garment they provided. Open the curtain when your done so i start and the information lady came in half way through me changing. She was pleasant so no real harm yet. The doctor comes in and starts very loudly discussing all the probable scenarios and causes and fixes. Which was mortifying to say the least. I tell him im in pain and he very roughly proceeds with the exam. He says after not even a 5 second inspection that im prescribing you these and leaves. Then a nurse enters and at about twice the decibal level of he doctor goes over what he just did. Now i can hear snickering in the main area. She tells me im crazy for staying with a doctor who is a little further away but in whom i trust. Then forgets to give me my prescription. I have been on the phone for hours with cvs walmart walgreens and to no avail i call the hospital back and "oh she must have forgotten to give you the script no biggie". I swore id never go back after they misdiagnosed my shingles as a simple skin rash last year. Even if your desperate go somewhere else
