DO NOT TAKE EXOTIC PETS TO THIS VET! Im not the type of person who would ever write a review, but how could you call yourself a vet when you dont even care about animals? If I could give negative stars I would. I brought my chinchilla in because he stopped eating, he wasnt being active and he was acting weird. I had no idea what it was or what was wrong, so we brought him to Doctor Isabel Perez. She told us our chins teeth were overgrown, and needed to be shaved down. They charged us nearly $400 dollars to fix his teeth. After we brought our chinny home from the "surgery" he looked terrible! He was crying, still in pain, as if they did not use anesthesia when we paid for it. My chinchilla was traumatized after he came back home. A month goes by, my chin still wont eat, he is in pain, crying, symptoms are getting worse, we called and made an appointment again. We brought him in just for them to tell us we needed to go to a specialist. To get x-rays at another place and to get his teeth filed again!! Basically they wanted me to pay for what they were supposed to fix, because apparently they didnt even shave his teeth completely or correctly! The appointment they set for us was 3 days out, meanwhile my chinchilla cannot eat, he couldnt even move. So we called again, and we set an emergency visit, they wouldnt see us at Union Hospital, so they sent us to another vet. So when we got to the other vet Boulevard veterinary clinic in Kenilworth, the staff was rude and displeased to see us again, because it was the same staff as in Union. The vet that attended us this time was Dr. Markowitz. He handled our chinchilla without care, he grabbed him like a rag doll. He pulled him out of the carrier, he held him improperly, ripped clumps of his fur off and said it was normal for that much fur to fall off, and he was forcing open our chinchillas mouth while the chin is in pain and crying. Then Dr. Markowitz grabbed his tools to "fix" his teeth, after we suggested his teeth were what was causing pain, he said that his teeth werent the problem. Dr. Markowitz then proceeds to shove a wooden tongue stick down my chinchillas mouth and broke his teeth!! Then Dr. Markowitz makes a joke saying " I guess we didnt need the tools to shave his teeth" because he literally broke them with the stick! I am so disgusted with this experience!!!

We want to give a big shout out to Dr. Perez and the staff at Union Animal Hospital who helped us through the toughest time of the passing of our kitty. We had a sudden death of our 3 year old cat, and brought her there to lay to rest. The woman at the front desk couldnt be nicer. She sympathized with us, gave us time alone with our pet, and got us in for an appointment that same day for our other cat since we were obviously freaking out. When we returned with our other cat, she remembered exactly who we were, and the nurse and Dr. Perez knew of our passed kitty and called her by name. The respect shown for our deceased kitty was incredible. And not a week later we received a hand written note in the mail from the animal hospital with their condolences. I just dont know how to thank them enough.

I would like to thank Dr. Perez and her whole staff for their expertise, professionalism and compassion!! Even though my poor Skoochie had to be put to sleep, I will never forget the compàssion and sympathy Dr. Perez gave us! I only wish we would of went to her first, since our cat was totally misdiagnosed by another vet at another location, which ultimately led to her death!! Union Animal Hospital is the best!!! Whenever we decide to get another furbaby, we are going straight to Dr. Perez!!

Being new to the area I was searching for a vet with flexible hours that made me feel welcome, and I have certainly found that here! Wonderful, warm and friendly from start to finish. FINALLY, a vets office that works with each individual pets needs, just like a human doctor, instead of just a "cat". Dr. Perez and the front desk team are wonderful and gave me a sense of a team approach to care for my kitties. I highly recommend them and look forward to many years with them.

Dr. Perez is amazing! From entry to exit and in between you feel like they actually care!!!!! I come from Lodi Nj. And when Sophie was diagnosed with Lyme disease they treated her like a queen!!!!! They called us to check on her during her antibiotic treatment and they truely cared. Have a new rescue Chloe took her today and it was another great visit! This animal hospital is def a place where good and knowledgable people work! Xoxox
