I have always been very picky about who I take my dogs to. Ive gone from vet to vet trying to find one I felt was knowledgable, personable, reasonably priced, had friendly staff and, of course, is good with my animals. I finally found the whole package at West Chester Veterinary Care! I have been taking my two dogs there for over a year now and I will never go anywhere else! Dr. Hellard is very knowledgable and always extremely thorough. My dog Zeus was always such a pain in the butt :-), and tried to bite on more than one occassion, but she never minded a bit. She is always so happy to see us and the entire staff always makes us feel welcome. Ive had some very, very rough times over the last year and a half with both Jax and Zeus. Dr. Hellard stood by me every step of the way, guiding and advising and even lending a shoulder to cry on. She will always explain everything. Xrays, test results, physical examinations... She always makes sure you understand before she moves on to something else. She always tells you what shes seeing, thinking, questioning and always wants to know if you have any questions of your own. She performed a foreign object removal on my Zeus and he was acting like him old, awnry self within days! Jax had to have dental surgery last summer. Again, another amazing job by Dr, Amy and her great staff! One of my pups passed away May 04, 2010. Of course I was devastated but, there is no doubt in my mind, Dr. Amy did everything she possibly could. It was just his time. I decided to have him creamated and WCVC made all of the arrangements for me. Theyve called several times just to see how Im doing, sent me a beautiful card and even surprised me with an imprint of my pups paw! The entire staff has been so supportive through everything and Ill never be able to thank them enough. I could go on and on about all the wonderful things theyve done for my dogs! Needless to say, I highly recommend taking your pets to West Chester Veterinary Care! Itll be the best decision you could ever make as a pet owner!

After taking my cat to Dr. Hellard for care, she later accused me of not taking excellent care of my cat and not getting the proper testing for him. I think the real story is that I should not have visited her in the first place. The flyer she left on my mail box should have been thrown in the garbage can. I spent thousands of dollars with her, and I feel she bled me dry until it reached a point where my cat needed to go to a specialist. I questioned her many times on whether it was his gall bladder, especially since a previous ultrasound stated he had an abnormal gall bladder. Each time I would ask, she would tell me it was NOT his gall bladder. After taking him to Ohio State University I found out it was in fact his gall bladder, and it was the largest one they have ever seen in a cat. My cat did not survive. She kept telling me it was treatable and he would be okay, but he would always need treatment. I was okay with that. But to find out from OSU that it should have been taken care of over a year ago, I find that unacceptable. Her fees for a two day stay were twice that of a specialist. I would think twice before taking any of my animals to see her. She is not straight forward and does not give you all the facts in order to make an informed decision about your animal, and the last thing you want to hear after your animal dies is that you didnt do a good job of taking care of him.

Come on! Obvisouly Hellard or 1 of her staff is writing these "great" reviews. Next time try not wording the whole review as if you work there. If you like being talked down to when your feline or canine loved one is feeling under the weather. Like you don't know a thing about your "pet", then barrage your stressed pet with a laundry list of tests and exams, etc. If you want your cat to live, take them to mason pet hospital. Rates are fair for great service and your pet will get better without needles, and x-rays, and exploratory surgery that is not necessary at all. If your loooking for doggy daycare, then this place might be what your looking for. If you have to put your nice mercedes up for sale to pay for a week of "service". Toe nail clipping . . . . . . . . $$ Ear cleaning . . . . . . . . . . . $$ Anal gland express. . . . . . $$$ Hidden psychology tests . . $$$$$ The food . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0 (cause its that bad) Pretty much, If your taking your pet here its for the shot that puts it to sleep. Cause you never wanna see this Vet again.

From Dr. Amy Hellard, regarding the below review: I was very sorry to hear that this client’s cat has passed away. My first knowledge of this was in reading the review. You see, the client had ceased to respond to follow-up calls for the past three months and had taken her cat to several other doctors after his care at WCVC. His death occurred well after he had left our care. I never accused her of not caring for her cats properly. The specialist that I referred her to for an ultrasound had her cat in intensive care for a week after he left my hospital. I had run many of the initial diagnostics, therefore the daily fee referred to in the review was based on diagnostics, not hospital care. I feel the review is unfair and also unfortunate. After spending many hours on the phone and in person discussing the cat’s situation, we felt we had a strong relationship with this client. She recently retracted a very positive review of our facility that was written prior to her cat’s death and replaced it with this one. I share in her loss and wish her the best.

I have brought nearly all of my animals here in the past year and they have never gotten better care! Everybody from my tiny sick rat to my giant German Shepherd have been treated as individuals with their individual needs. Dr. Hellards expert knowledge in both medical treatment and animal behavior have culminated into a very satisfying experience every time I have come to this hospital. I would also like to comment on how sparkling clean the hospital is every time I have visited. The staff actually welcomes clients to tour their ENTIRE hospital and to drop in for visits to their boarding facilities. Prices are not only low, but they are made very clear with estimates given before services are done, and services are never done without consent. Try them out, you will be happy you did!

I took my dogs in there for particular services. At the end of the day and hundreds of dollars later, nearly a thousand, I was made to feel like I was a horrible dog owner. In their "Report Cards", my dogs were (many adjectives) very dirty, etc. I took them in for day care and a bath! I will add....watch out for their individual fees for bath, toe nails and ears! My 8 month old male puppy was very dirty. Imagine that! I did not tell them how I felt when I left but I should have. Even speaking with the vet, adjectives. My dogs toe nails were really really bad. I have never had a vet or a vet office do that to me or make me feel that way. Ever.....
