...this place is a complete SCAM. Prices for packages are inflated and misrepresented, taking advantage of gullible people who think spending more on a standard service will somehow be better for their precious pet (no matter how much you pay-- its still the same vaccine). They get people to accept and pay these outrageous prices by advertising much lower prices then they plan to charge, then bundling, re-bundling, and shuffling your "health care package" in the exam room, without ever naming the price adjustments involved -- so you think you are getting price you asked about on your way into the clinic. Classic bait and switch tactic. It was very easy to confirm the (incorrect, reasonable) price for services over the phone before my visit. By contrast, watching the verterinarian check and uncheck tiny boxes on her computer screen was an extremely confusing experience, especially considering many of the itemized services carry hidden costs (ie, require additional tests or visits). Even though I repeatedly asked for clarification, the veterinarian was very guarded in her responses to my questions about pricing, even though her recommendations would have added over $400 to my bill. I have a really hard time accepting that $146 is a reasonable price for a single mainstream cat vaccine. But hey, maybe youre one of those people who feels better when they pay more. I have two cats, so "theres an extra fee for that" is a very misleading way to characterize what amounts to a $292 upcharge in my bill. Also, I specifically asked to reserve the "Catquarium" room, was told "of course!" (as long as my pet had no contagious illness) in a very enthusiastic voice over the phone. Of course, when we were assigned a regular dog/cat room, and I asked about it, I was told it was being used for another appointment. I said we had asked to reserve it, and was told- I quote- "oh well". Real charmer. And besides all that, I called on the phone to confirm the 1/2 off first time customer discount applied to the package I wanted ahead of time, it was not until I was in the exam room and asking pointed, repeated questions about prices that I was told none of the packages were eligible for the discount. (No where on the website does it mention any restrictions for the discount. Again, I specifically asked over the phone if the package I wanted was eligible and was misinformed). At that point I said I felt very misled, that I had a very negative impression, and wanted to wrap things up. I was told I would still be charged the portion of the package price for the exam and the receptionist would be reprimanded for misinforming (she was nice, like the only friendly person in the place, why would I feel good about her being reprimanded? how does that solve anything? what an exhausting workplace that must be...). Really? $200 to tell me my cats are fat and give me some used car salesman type lip run around ? I thought shed lost her mind. Luckily, they seemed to think better of it before I left, decided not to charge me I guess. I was politely helped out the door instead. Its like these guys will promise you anything just to get you in the door and then charge whatever they think they can get away with. However stupid you look, thats how much you pay! For rude, disorganized service, lackluster facilities (no changing table, dirty floors)..... wow. I feel sorry for the clients of this place.

The veterinary technician was under trained and lacked compassion. He administered a subcutaneous iv drip and was clearly in a rush, squeezing the iv bag to get it in as quickly as possible to get us out the door (note its called a drip for a reason), and didnt properly secure the needle so it was free floating causing my kitten serious pain. After the water was administered it all drained out in 10 minutes by the time I got home so the 40$ charge for 100ml of water was a complete waste. After his first visit we administered the antibiotics and eye drops as prescribed and it only got worse. We took him back in, and they wanted to give him another subcutaneous iv drip. I refused and did not allow them to administer another treatment. The first visit was 150, this next one was quoted at 180. They didnt test for any issues like feline herpes or leukemia. Even though his symptoms got very bad vary quickly potentially indicating an immune system issue. So, I took my pet to the companion animal hospital on 25th and main in Hillsboro. My pet was seen very quickly the pricing was half frontiers price and the vet took care to cover all her bases. Most notably she said my pet was not dehydrated and did not require a subcutaneous iv which frontier was peddling like it was a life or death situation. I would highly recommend you go somewhere else rather than letting the people at frontier charge you an arm and a leg to play the guessing game with your pets health.

I recently moved and need to find a new vet. Choosing the right clinic for my cat is extremely important. Reviews online sometimes make this more difficult. I decided to check google reviews for Frontier because this is the clinic I had brought my pets to for years and figured I could try and decipher the relevant reviews to the non-relevant ones. Having said that, after reading the reviews here I felt it was important to add my experience. I had a very bad experience with a previous vet and needed to find a new one immediately. My cat had an absessed tooth and it was causing her a lot of pain. Previous vet did the exam and told me there were no appointments for 2 weeks. Thats when I called Frontier. From the start they put me at ease. They could get her in the next day for the extraction and cleaning. My cat had a general fear of vets, or anyone trying to pick her up. She was my attack cat, old and cranky. Having watched her hiss, scratch and bite different people and vets caused me a lot of stress (my cat too). The entire staff here went above and beyond my expectations. They listened to my concerns and fears and had a plan on how we could make the visit stress free for the both of us. My heart breaks that I live so far away now because I have never experienced the kindness and patience that this entire clinic showed us. I highly recommend Frontier to anyone who is looking for a vet!

Our 1.5 year old Rottweiler suddenly became lethargic, had difficulty breathing, and was drooling non-stop. We called Frontier Veterinary Hospital and they didnt have any appointments available that day but were able to see us a couple hours after we called. The vet recommended a series of tests to try and determine what was wrong with. Unfortunately we had just moved and were short on funds and they dont take payments. In an effort to save a bit of money we were going to skip some of the more expensive tests (x-rays). The vet strongly suggested doing the x-rays and was going to talk to the office manager to see if they could make an exception and set up a payment plan. Rather than a payment plan they came back with a grant that covered half of the cost of the tests and treatment (Over $600!) This was above and beyond what we had hoped for. It turns out that our dog had pneumonia and the x-rays were needed. He spent a couple of nights at the hospital before coming home with us. When we brought him home he was doing so much better, but still slept a lot and didnt eat as much as normal. The vet called us several times over the next few days to check in and see how he was doing. A week later he is back to his old self playing keep away with my socks... I strongly believe that the concern and generosity of the people at Frontier Veterinary Hospital saved my dogs life...
