I started with Animal Care Veterinary Care immediately after moving here from California. Olivia, a Jack Russell, was a rescue dog from a dog fighting ranch where they used little dogs as "bait" to get the big dogs in the mood. She was badly mauled and spent a week at the UC Davis vet hospital being reconstructed. Despite what happened she came to be a most loving and sweetest of friends. She did have a number of medical problems and we spent a lot of time with vets in Marin Calif. In Salem, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Slama and all of the staff were the most caring medical professionals I have ever encountered. Ollie hated going to the vet in Calif but came to love being cared for by all of the people: the receptionists, assistants, and doctors at Animal Care, even when they gave her shots and other such. They cared for her and extended her life beyond estimates from when I first got her. They cared for her and for me when she couldnt go on any longer. My time with Ollie was precious the more so because of everyone at Animal Care Center. Ollie made my life better and I can honestly say that the people at Animal Care made Ollies life better too. If I ever get another pet they are the only ones I would want treating us.

I have been taking my dog to this vet for many years. I loved this clinic. However when I got a new dog...a pit bull, I saw a bad side to this clinic and I have not been back. The first year I took my pit bull and other dog to this clinic and everything went great! The second year we ran into some financial difficulty and had to move in with my parents. My pit bull was not adjusting to the change well. She was chewing on everything, digging, and she snapped at the air near my dads hand when he was spanking her butt for chewing up his mat. I took her to this clinic to inquire about anti anxiety meds, to help her be calm until we got our new place. My appointment was lead by a vet that I had not met before and he seemed afraid of my pit bull before he even got close enough to interact with her. She was extremely well behaved during her examination but when I explained what was happening and why I was inquiring about anti anxiety meds...his first advise to me was to put her down if shes snapping. It was very apparent to me that he is prejudice against pit bulls and this clinic is NOT the place for my dogs anymore. I have not been back.

The previous review here scared me a bit, but since all of the veterinary clinics in Salem seem to have negative reviews, I settled on this one for my cat. I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were all quite friendly and helpful, and the veterinarian took the time to explain everything to me about what he would be doing and what needed to be done in follow-up appointments. I have since received great communication about when to schedule follow-up appointments for important check-ups, and I even received a thank you card signed by all of the staff for visiting them. It didnt seem overly expensive (not sure what normal costs are, but I wasnt aghast when I saw the bill), but the great treatment is what will keep me coming back.

I moved to South Salem a year ago and was using a different vet across town because of Yelp reviews. Decided I needed someone closer to home and tried Animal Care Center. What an amazing group of people. Everyone is so nice and youre greeted at the door. If you want an affordable option, without long wait times and great customer service, try Animal Care Center. They dont push extra tests, are very thorough and priced very reasonably. Ive been to many vets with our multiple pets and this ranks with the best. The ladies are so friendly and you and your pets are treated like special guests. Havent been this happy with the friendly service and quick turn around in a long time. Give them a try!

The various dogs and cats of mine have been patients of Dr. Slamas for over 20 years and we are thrilled that he is at Animal Care Center Veterinary Clinic. Both he and Dr. Schwartz are thorough with their exams and patient with my animals antics at the vet. I always receive a call back quickly regarding test results or when I have questions. The staff are very friendly, kind, and accommodating, they know my animals and the quirks that go along with exams, blood tests, and nail trims. They are always gentle and kind. The folks at Animal Care Center Veterinary Clinic Are great! They are very good about fitting you in on the same day, if possible, and they take such good care of my dog, Jasper whenever hes there. When I go in to get his nails trimmed, I always call and ask for a "mani-pedi for Jasper, please", and they always play along. I like a place where they know what theyre doing, and can still have fun doing it. Both of the vets are very knowledgeable, and they are dedicated to what they do. I found them through a friend who was just as happy with them as I am now. Word of mouth is a wonderful thing!

Dr. Slama, Jennifer, Heather, Richelle, and Renée were all so very helpful and compassionate in their care for our cat. All treatment options, costs, likely outcomes and long term benefits/risks were clearly discussed. Our 14 year old cat and buddy ended up with terminal cancer and we had to send him off to his next adventure. Dr. Slama was incredibly patient with our family decision. Most touching was Heathers assurance to my son and I that she would stay with our sweet cat as long as he needed. I cannot laud this team of caring professionals enough.

Our old dog got a bur in her eye.It had fallen out but her eye was irritated.Vet poked around causing her to scream he then took her out of room and we heard her scream again.He brought her back said he didnt see anything and sent us on our way after charging us 190.00. Our poor 17 year old dog now has an eye running constantly and has turned white. I am shocked at the reviews on here. We have to watch her suffer until we get paid again. Take your pet and go anywhere but here

We have been taking our cat to ACC for almost 5 years ago. Recently our cat Layla was injured in an apparent squabble. She took some nasty wounds. Called Animal Care and was in the office within 15 minutes. Compassionate people are here. She was well cared for. The doc called a report to me, and I received instructions for Laylas wounds. I tell everyone I know about this most excellent group of animal lovers. Good appropriate care from devoted people.

Weve been looking for a great rabbit vet in Salem, Oregon for quite a while. We are so happy that weve found Animal Care Center for our pet rabbit. The staff are very professional and friendly, and our bunny was well cared for. Both vets on staff have expertise in rabbit veterinary care. From what we observed, it appears that cats and dogs (and their humans) are also treated with kindness and respect. We highly recommend this wonderful animal clinic.
