I wasnt very happy the first time I came to Polk Vet. Clinic because they immediately wanted to muzzle my dog. My dog is a German short hair pointer and has never shown aggression and wasnt this time either. I didnt like that they didnt take anytime to try and make my dog feel safe or try to make friends with him. I ended having to take him back there due to an emergency situation and his real vet was booked solid. Dr. Trina seemed concerned and scheduled a surgery for the next day. She explained to me that she was going to have to open up the side of his head and remove infection to relieve the pressure. No problem, do what is needed to make my baby feel better. Well, come to find out, all they did was stick a needle in his head and were not able to relive any pressure (no big deal, but thats not what we discussed and $400 to do that?). They gave him strong antibiotics and this helped quickly. So, I was just happy that my dog was better! Until all of a sudden it is back and way worse! so I take him back in and they say that I never came back for his second round of meds..... I was livid! I specifically discussed with the vet about the meds, instructions, and if he was done once the bottle was gone. No one said anything about more meds ( Ive worked with animals for 8 years and know how important to finish the entire antibiotic series is). So, the infection is horrible at this point and I take him to another vet to be treated. They do an actual surgery, open him up and within 20 minutes of the surgery they find the route cause, a broken tooth that let infection into his body. If Dr. Trina had done what we discussed the first time, My dog wouldnt have had to go through three surgeries to solve the problem. The infection had gotten so horrible by the time he went to the second vet, that he ended up needing two more surgeries and numerous medications, to fully clean out the infection and prevent him from loosing his eye. And everything that was done at the other vet clinic didnt even cost me as much as what Polk vet charged me to stick a needle in his head.

This is one of the absolute best places you could take your pet for care. We had an exceptionally high quality male Rottie that received a traumatic injury to his testicles and as it became increasing apparent after all options were explored, that surgery was needed. Everything above and beyond the call duty was done to save the one viable testicle, as we really wanted a litter of puppies from this guy. The kind of care you get for your animals in this clinic is equal to the Mayo Clinic for humans, caring, excellent surgical facility, and a well educated, compassionate staff, extremely clean surgical facility and examining rooms. The staff is very compassionate and caring in time of crisis or for just routine visits. They know you by first name and remember you and your pets. I have used the particular doctor for many years and in many situations. Here is what Tyler, Sadie, Muffy, Einstein, Stuart, Shadow, Tootsie, China, Tilly, Sam, Lady, have to say about Dr. Brotherton, "please, please take me in the room first," as they are excited to be in the clinic and are excited to see the doctor, which when you have several Rotties and many other pets this is saying something. In my 35 years of owning pets, and training animals finding a vet that you can trust and that will be around for years is something that does not come along every day. You and your pets are treated like part of the family in this clinic. So take your pets here for the best care you will ever receive.

For those of you who may be reading this, I must first point-out that I have never actually been to the Polk Vet Clinic. (She was gracious enough too come to me in my time of need!) With that being said, I have known Doctor Trina Brotherton for almost 20 years (we were neighbors), when she was still in school, before she got married, and even way back then it was her opinion I most respected when it came to the health and well-being of my wolf-dogs and ferrets. Growing-up on a ranch (In Oregon) gives her a "real world" approach to the care of your animals, and she will NOT prescribe any medication, or procedure that your pet does not need, and will give you practical, relevant advice on how to better care for your "best friends!" So, if youre looking for absolutely the finest, most skilled veterinarian you can find for your pets, look no further than the POLK VET CLINIC!!!

I wanted to write a review about about Polk Vetinary Clinic. I have been a client for close to 5 years now. I would go to Dr. Brotherton with anything related to my animals. I am extremely confident when I go to the vet clinic for a regular check up for one of my animals or for an emergency that my animals are going to receive the best in care. I used to live in Washington and I had no problem driving the 4 hours it would take to bring my animal. The staff there is amazing and I feel that they would do anything for my animals. I would recommend Dr. Brotherton and her staff to anyone and I have.

I have taken my pets to the Polk Vet Clinic for veterinary care and boarding for years and have always been very happy with the high quality, loving care my animals receive. Dr. Trina and her staff always go the extra mile to make the animals as comfortable as possible. She is also a great diagnostician; able to figure out complex problems and clearly communicate what is wrong, then give clear choices as to the course of treatment. Friendly and honest when it came to what my cat needed and what he didnt. Asked me if I wanted a run down of all the prices before they did anything. Very timely care. 4 stars because the antibiotic drops were 60% cheaper at the pharmacy.
