At first I thought Dr. Brett Robinson was wonderful. Although it is at his discretion, he doesnt like to refer his patients where they request to be referred if it is out of the area. Also, the front desk lady, Rachel, is dishonest and hostile. These are understatements. If you are a patient of his who has WVCH and have been told by Rachel that you need to see a local specialist because WVCH prefers it that way due to cost, it is not true. Per WVCH, they are contracted the same either way, local or Portland, and are even kind enough to send you a mileage reimbursement form. If you mention this to Rachel, she will tell you that is not true and that the insurance company lied. I was also told by Rachel early March that WVCH did not approve me for OHSU (she denied this), then I found out 03/15 through WVCH that I had actually been approved 02/17. I could have had an appt scheduled a month ago. When I called Rachel to verify what WVCH told me and to ask why she told me I was denied, her response was, "well you got your referral so whats the problem?" In my state of shock at being spoken to like that, I tried to explain to her that the problem was I am a patient who has chronic pain and has been trying to get help for a long time now and could have already had an appt scheduled for April with OHSU, but she interrupted me every single time I tried to speak. She even tried to tell me she called me in February and told me that I was approved to see OHSU. Ummm....yeah. I am so miserable I would made the call to OHSU as soon as I got off of that phone call with her. I never even requested OHSU until early March, as I was originally referred to a local rheumatologist in Salem; they would not be able to see me until June or July. OHSU said they could see me in April; thus, I called and requested the referral be changed. That took 2 weeks, and that is when Rachel told me WVCH rejected it. Per WVCH, this is not true. It turns out the first rheumatologist I was referred to in early February is who actually referred me to OHSU on 02/17, and WVCH indeed approved it. That is another thing Rachel said WVCH lied about. Either way, Dr. Robinsons office had to be aware of the fact that as of 02/17 I could have been calling OHSU, and for reasons unknown, they chose to not tell me. It turns out, for more unknown reasons, that Dr. Robinson wanted me instead to see a different local rheumatologist, who also would not be able to see me until June or July. Why would he want a patient who is in pain to wait until June or July when they can start getting help in April? It makes one wonder. When I asked Rachel why she told me originally that WVCH rejected my OHSU referral, she denied ever saying it. I informed WVCH that I am probably not the only patient who is being told these lies about them, and WVCH was very appreciative of the information and felt it was poor practice to, A, not refer a patient where they request, even if it is at the doctors discretion, and, B, to tell patients WVCH prefers we get local care to save them money, as this is so very untrue and, C, to be willing to make patients wait months longer for care than they need to. If I was not experiencing V-tach, which I am undergoing testing for tomorrow, I would go through the grievance process that WVCH offered to get started for me; I just do not have it in me. I am just relieved that I have been approved to see a rheumatologst at OHSU months earlier, and I will simply get a new primary care physician but wanted to let anyone know who may be having this experience with Rachel and this office that you are not alone. Please call your insurance company directly to get the truth. I think she was so hostile with me and would not allow me to speak because she was caught in a lie. If I did not have a houseful of people hearing this conversation transpire, I may be in disbelief myself. Healthcare these days lacks the most important part...the care.

Im the type of person whom hates doctor visits. Many practices are corporate ran but Dr Robinson has given me a new outlook. His personal tentative services and great office staff make it a great experience.
