KIDSPEACE IS NOT A THERAPEUTIC PLACE FOR YOUR CHILDREN. Seriously, CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS FOR YOUR CHILD. NOTE: To start, I was an employee here and was terminated a few months ago. This isnt a bitter rant (if it were, profanities would be flying), I just want everyone to know the TRUTH before sending their suffering children to be in such a place. Anyway, its an abysmal place. unsanitary, terrible organization, staff qutting left and right due to upper management mistreatment and neglectfulness of not only the the staff but the kids, or clients, there as well. IF YOUR CONSIDERING BECOMING AN EMPLOYEE I SUGGEST YOU START RECONSIDERING. Why you ask? Lets start with KidsPeaces main form of treatment,; restraints. RESTRAINTS HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY DAY ON EVERY UNIT. Do you want your child to be in that environment? Maybe you do due to their agressive behaviors, so this is an understandable reason for placing your child in a place frequently reffered to by parents as a "CHILDREN DETENTION CENTER". Hopefully they can find time to actually help your child in between restraining them on a day to day basis. The place is a mess, BARELY BEING ABLE TO KEEP CUSTODIAL EMPLOYEES to stay. Ive heard many complaints from parents about how it feels like a jail or detention center. Thats because that is literaly the environment KidsPeace makes you feel once you leave the cozy front office. Parents have also complained of unwashed children, messiness, and most of all the odor., which to many is repugnant. This is in NO WAY a fault of the Mental Health Technicians (or MHTs), as they work as hard as they can to keep clients safe from other, more dangerous clients that have been brought on the unit. Physical fights are frequent, verbal vulgar fights are every day. Upper management doesnt see thes care much about these employees until. Like I said earlier, staff (mostly MHTs) are quitting or being let go constantly, just about every other week someone had either left or was fired. Who can blame a staff for quitting or getting fired from a place where staff get black eyes, bites/scratches/ covered in poop or pee (or both), sprained/broken arms, legs, hands, and last but not least, the usual concussion or two. Personally. I feel KidsPeace cares more for your insurance $$$$ than anything else. They will overload units with children with diagnoses such as ADHD and Oppositional/agressive disorders, large groups of these kids that will run the halls, trash the unit with garbage or toilet paper or chalk/markers/crayons, attempt to break down doors, fight, throw poop or try to pee on you. As MHTs try to deal with all thise: THERE IS NO THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT THAT CAN ACTUALLY OCCUR. I will say the older units are much different than the younger ones but still suffer from the same issues. So if your child s older (above 16 or so) Id say KidsPeace might not be the worst option. But I still dont reccomend it. But this is also where the concussions, to staff, happen most) As an employee, you also had to deal with managers who would target employees and look for things to do to get them fired. There are POWER HUNGRY MANAGERS that abuse their position and care not for the children. One manager in particular talks to none of the childrten unless it is to scold them. MANAGEMENT AND UPPER MANAGEMENT NEED TO BE PUT IN CHECK. Staff there work hard, while upper management ignores the biggest problems in creating a therapeutic and sanitary environement. Instead they focused on dress codes and other small details that do not help your child in the least. Ive seen so many clients come and go and Ive seen good children go almost entirely untreated and leave the same way they were when they got there. Often, the next week that clien would be returning. In short, I want to emphasize the environment your child would be in if they were admitted to KidsPeace. Im sure there are better options out there (Including those looking for a job), and I reccomend looking into those options. SAY NO TO KIDSPEACE. seriously.

This was my first time ever coming to a psychiatric hospital, but I know it will certainly be my last. I wish there was a way I can give this 0 stars, because nothing came out of KidsPeace. I spent a week and a half there, and ended up going to the East Wing I believe. I receive little to no care by my clinician and the awful staff. Though unlike a lot of peoples experience, my clinician spoke to me almost every day, but only asked me questions that were listed such as "are you harming yourself ?" I would answer, and she would move onto the next question "Are you bisexual ?". It was like a robot reading automated lines, she seemed almost tired of her job. The staff put little into no effort into you, had 0 patience for anything, and were very uncaring. I recall hearing when a girl on 24 hour watch began to act up, a staff member rolled her eyes and mumbled "You people are crazy". Everyday you would wake up, go to the back room and fill out worksheets rating how you feel and do mindless activities that were little to no help. If you were not acting up throwing chairs around, no one cared about you. I remember I wanted to speak to one of the staff because I was getting really bad urges, but she looked at me with tired eyes and said "eh, you wouldnt be the first". They constantly push pills on you too, which is extremely unprofessional. I had to speak to several people throughout the day and all they would result to is medicine. No therapy, no other alternative, just pills.I failed to receive any treatment, and was only thrown into an awful outpatient therapy with a lady who only watched the clock as I spoke. If you are seeking any medical care, this place is by far the worst you can go to, and you can guarantee bring more issues out of it then leaving behind any. Of course unless you accept their take of medicine, because that is a good way to shut kids up by their logic. I suffer from major trauma from going here, they have torn my perspective on what true mental health facilities can offer.

DO NOT send your kids to this place! I was there when I was ten (almost eleven) years old in May 2007. I was there for about five to seven days. This place is dirty, disgusting and extremely depressing! Its NOT a happy place at all! The staff members, especially Bernie and Anthony always yelled at the other kids and it always scared the heck out of me! These staff dont even care about the kids at all, they were always very frustrated and careless! Its like, why did you even start working here people?! They were absolutely horrible! The staff basically treated the kids like animals! I HATED Bernie the most because he always yelled at the kids and he was extremely two faced! He would be nice to my mom but mean to the other kids! The ONLY staff member I liked was Laura because she was awesome, unlike the other staff! The staff dont know what they are doing! They did NOT help me like they were supposed to! The staff are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! They are even bias because they werent being neutral at all when theyre supposed to be neutral! When I was supposed to have blood work done, they FORCED me to have the blood work done! They held me down and even put a mat over my arm so that I wouldnt look at what they were doing! When they did that, it really traumatized me! Then I ended up not having the blood work done. Even the therapist there didnt help me! She was so careless when I was crying my eyes out! I always cried my eyes out everyday and my stomach was always hurting everyday! I begged my mom to just take me home when she visited me! My mom complained to them and yelled at them. Then she signed me out and got me the heck out of that horrible place! Honestly, this place should be shut down because it has been going down hill! Also, it totally makes sense why this place has so many negative reviews. I had a horrible experience there!
