Aside from a mild case of jaundice, we were released from the hospital two days after my son was born. We were told that the doctors would like to see us back in the office the day after we arrived at home, just to make sure the jaundice had improved. We made our appointment, while in the hospital, for 8am the following day. As new parents with a 3-day-old infant, you can imagine that we were running a few minutes late as we were still adjusting to our baby’s needs. We arrived at the Breastfeeding Center around 8:35am to be checked by both a Pediatrician and a lactation consultant. Upon arriving, my husband and I immediately apologized for our late arrival. We were met with a very rude and cutting response and were told, “Next time, you need to call us if you’re going to be more than 30 minutes late.” I already felt bad enough that we were late, plus all the stress of having a brand new baby to take care of and the last thing I needed at that point in time was someone making me feel even worse. Not to mention, each time we returned for an appointment after that incident to both the Breastfeeding Center AND Parkside, we had to wait AT MINIMUM, 30 minutes each time. The next time I visited the Breastfeeding Center after that day, I waited over an hour to be seen. From the time I arrived to the time I left, it had been over three hours. So, with all do respect, I would like a phone call if YOU are running more than 30 minutes late. My goal has always been to breastfeed my son. I struggled in the hospital to get him to latch on and I felt like, even when he had a “proper latch,” he wasn’t getting anything from me. I was checked at the Breastfeeding Center multiple times by different lactation consultants and each one said he was latching on perfectly and everything looked great. Meanwhile, my son kept losing weight and I was in pain. I was told that it was probably my history of hypothyroidism that caused a low milk supply. Fast forward 5 months. This past week, I visited a new doctor in town because my son has struggled with reflux issues since he was 3 weeks old. She took one look inside his mouth and found a SEVERE lip and tongue tie. She explained that this was the reason he could not breastfeed properly and has most likely contributed to his reflux issue as well. I was livid. This entire time I was made to feel as though it was MY FAULT that I couldn’t breastfeed my son. That he had “a perfect latch,” and there was nothing wrong. My son has been on formula for nearly 5 months now when he could have been breastfed this entire time had this been detected in his first weeks of life. Aside from the reflux symptoms, my son began spitting up excessively around three weeks old. To the point where it was after every feeding and it was nearly his entire bottle each time. We brought him back to Parkside for follow up visits a couple times and each time they werent concerned and said it was just a severe case of spit up and put him on Zantac. We had a follow up visit scheduled on a Friday, but on Monday I was deeply concerned and called the office again for help. After being told a nurse would call me back in an hour, I never got any advice or call back from a nurse until the following day at 2pm, after several follow up calls by myself and my husband. When she finally called back, she said to wait until Friday to bring him in and he was fine since he was still "wetting enough diapers per day." We did not wait until Friday. We went to a different Pediatrician and have been there ever since. We discovered that my son had pyloric stenosis and needed surgery immediately after falling to the 5th percentile for weight and being severely dehydrated. To say we were disappointed with the care we received would be a huge understatement. I would give negative stars if I could. Please do your research before choosing your doctors. I sincerely hope Parkside makes some changes fast to improve their service to all current and future patients.

Worst experience ever!!! This was only our first visit to this practice and I will not take my daughter back, and that was at her request!! I had an appointment for my 4 year old to get her flu shot, and I arrived 10 min early with only 1 other family waiting. However 40 min later my husband inquired how much longer it would be. Finally a nurse came, and put us in the conference room which was dirty. She was planning on just giving her the vaccine in the dirty conference room. When I said something she got the manager who came over and said they would get a room cleaned for us. She also mentioned she would have the office manager give me a call to discuss the issue. A new nurse came and took us to a room, never even mentioned her name, and she too had no bedside manner and was unwilling to even listen. She told us we had to hold my daughters arms and legs down for the shot which she was going to give in her thigh. I tried questioning why they would do it in her thigh, when her last doctor in AZ did it in her arm with no issues. Her response was "this is policy!" I also tried explaining that my daughter doesnt need to be held down because she actually likes watching since she wants to be a doctor someday. The nurse wouldnt listen, and just responded with "this is our policy for our protection." Completely ridiculous because no child is alike so they should learn to have a better beside manner!! My daughter was crying and kept saying "Why are you holding me down, I dont like it. I am not a baby, please stop treating me like one." Once the nurse jammed the shot in her thigh she quickly put a bandaid on and left without saying a word....oh, but she turned on the stupid bubbles so supposedly that should make it better how unprofessional she was! Sorry, but once you take the fluff away, you are left with only personality and bedside manner.....if you dont have that, you have nothing!! I am happy to say, I have found a new office and they were appalled by my Parkside Pediatrics experience!! Did I mention that I am still waiting for a call back from the Office Manager, as was promised to me on October 19th?

They deserve only ONE star because not only will they drag their feet when it comes to TEFRA paperwork (all I needed was ONE signature that took over 3 business days), but because of one particular doctor (Dr. Powers) who ignored everything we said about our autistic son being sick. We were sent away without any treatment whatsoever. I refused to accept this lackadaisical behavior from this "Board Certified" Doctor and found another doctor willing to accept our autistic son as a patient. By the end of the visit, the doctor was convincing us he needed a steroid shot and treatment. All of this happened in the same day, and this is very much what just might happen to you. Find a doctor willing to listen and if you have an autistic child, I hope you find a doctor that can understand what youre telling them. In no way did I influence the 2nd doctors diagnosis to have a steroid shot but as a parent, I knew if he didnt get at least SOMETHING, things were going to get alot worse. All of this happened on the same day, within hours of the two visits and he is currently getting better, thanks to my parental persistence. Dr. Powers states she " loves kids because they are innocent and honest". This is probably true. However, she did not describe herself as having an inability to simply listen instead of rushing through a work day. As a result, they are no longer our Primary Care Physicians. We have been wanting to switch for quite some time due to other smaller "events" but todays events were 100% unacceptable and deserving to unfortunately write a less than good review.
