Dr. John Mazur of Catawba Animal Clinic is hands down the best veterinarian we have ever taken our pets to. He stands in a class alone. In all of our years of being pet parents, we have never been acquainted with such a brilliant, skillful and caring physician. His true love of and dedication to animals is extremely rare. This love and dedication cannot be “faked” because it comes from his heart. My husband and I are totally animal lovers. Between the two of us, over the years, we have had the pleasure of living with 23 dogs, 11 cats, 2 horses, 1 Guinea pig, 1 hamster, 2 cockatiels, 27 finches of various varieties and 1 squirrel. We have moved many times and have placed our pets under the care of many veterinarians, whether as the result of a move, or of a realization that we had chosen “the wrong vet” (we’ve tried 16 different vets in our time). We have known good vets, fair vets, the worst possible vets and, now that we are clients of Catawba Animal Clinic, we know the best veterinarians out there. To take our respect and trust for Catawba Animal Clinic a step further, let me mention the awesome staff who complete the picture of the best medical office with which we have ever been acquainted. The front office associates are the most professional, most friendly, most compassionate and most fun to be around staff we have ever known. These folks stand head and shoulders above any staff of any medical office we have ever entered, to include “human” medical clinics, offices and hospitals. Want to board your pets and not worry about their safety, health and well-being? Camp Catawba, Catawba Animal Clinic’s boarding kennel, is the only place for you! Before we found out about Camp Catawba, my husband and I always hated to travel, because that meant boarding our pets—at every other facility we had tried, our pets were left stressed out and, in an unfortunate case, poorly fed. We had decided never to put a beloved pet through this agony again. But that was before we were lucky enough to find Catawba Animal Clinic. Now we take them to Camp Catawba and leave them knowing that they will have the best possible care – and that they will, of course, be healthy and happy when we pick them up. We actually left them at Camp Catawba for over two weeks when we were out of the country – now, that is TRUST! Sincerely, J.C. and Nena Crandall

My family and I have been clients at Catawba Animal Clinic for the last 27years. For about the last 12 of those years my pets have seen only Dr. John Mazur unless there is an emergency. I spent time out in California about 8yrs ago and had a very sick pup while I was there. Dr. Mazur spent a great deal of time with me on the phone trying to help the best way he could from 3,000mi away and make me feel better. He was even able to advise me to hold off on a VERY expensive test (MRI) that the vet in San Diego felt was completely necessary since I would be home in Rock Hill soon for him to see her himself. When I returned to Rock Hill, he was one of the first people I saw so he could thoroughly evaluate my pup. As it turned out, he was correct and the test was an unnecessary amount of money to spend and she lived out the last years of her life (another 7) a very happy and loved pup. When I married my husband and moved to Mooresville, NC, I still remained a loyal CAC client. I had to commute an hour each way, but the care given by Dr. Mazur is worth it (even with the gas prices of today). We are now back in Rock Hill, but would continue to be a CAC client even if I did still live an hour away. The care and compassion of Dr. Mazur and all his partners with pets and their owners goes way above and beyond anywhere else I have ever taken my pets out of necessity during an emergency situation when I was traveling and living in Mooresville. They also do their best to get you scheduled as soon as possible with the vet of your choice, but will do their absolute best to fit you in if you cant wait. You could not go wrong with any doctor in this group, but Dr. Mazur holds a special place in my heart and that of my family!

I called Catawba Animal Clinic while in a full tilt panic after having been told by a reputable vet in Charlotte that my dogs were having issues that were really going to cost a ton of money to address. I was desperate to determine what was wrong and to find pain relieving solutions that I could actually afford quickly. That initial call for a price comparison was horribly embarrassing to make, but now that all the issues have been dealt with, Im so proud of myself for making it. Dr. White met me on a Saturday morning with tears in my eyes about my little Desilou that was wasting away and had grown a scary looking bump on her arm. They tested the bump and put her on some medicine. The bump isnt cancerous and can be easily removed and the medicine has her feeling back to her usually happy self. Then a week later I brought my older dog, Barley in to discuss her liver and having her teeth cleaned under anesthesia and also to take off a big bump that had rapidly appeared on her head. I made the conscious choice to not have any children; these two dogs are my babies and to watch them age is frightening. The last thing I needed was a vet that spent a lot of time scaring me and making me feel hopeless... I got more than enough of that in Charlotte. Catawba Animal Hospital has truly helped me and my girls. I was able to pay for their services in full. I wasnt ever looking for a charity or a handout; I was simply looking for knowledgeable people that treat animal ailments for a reasonable price and that is EXACTLY what I found with Catawba Animal Clinic. I cant recommend them enough!! :-)

We moved from NC to SC and the dogs ran out of revolution. I took them to this vet and asked to get them setup. The vet refused without a heartworm test and I said ok. I waited around 15 minutes, the tests came out clear, the vet was charging an arm and a leg for the drug so I purchased a single dose for each dog and headed off home, planning to buy subsequent doses from an online pet med supply company. Almost a month later and its time for a new dose. I placed the order and two days later Catawba Animal Clinic called me to say theyd been asked for a prescription and were going to refuse as the vet had not examined my dogs. I asked how exactly they had no problem selling it to me themselves to which they said they would find out. After 10 minutes on hold they come back to me telling me it was an oversight, they broke the law and they are sorry but theyre not willing to approve a second dose until I bring my dog in and pay for a vet exam. I understand a law is a law and Im not asking them to break it but to be given this news almost a month after I had already brought my dog in. If you need an exam to prescribe my dog drugs you do it while Im asking you and my dog is in your office. I figure if they cant get something as simple as this right, then what chances do my dogs have if they ever get ill. Time to find a new vet.
