Fantastic experience given the circumstances! We took our Chow Chow mix in on a Sunday after she spent the night vomiting every 45min or so and having extremely bloody diarrhea. We were obviously very concerned for her health, and the hospital staff was very helpful on the phone, telling us wed be able to come in within a half hour. Upon arriving, the receptionist/vet tech was very professional and got us all settled in with our paperwork (she had also given us a heads-up about a $10 coupon we could print off). We only had to wait about 15minutes before the vet tech led us into a and took a survey of our dogs symptoms - she was very friendly and sweet with our unhappy pet. The vet herself was also great with our dog, and explained everything to us clearly and concisely - especially regarding the medications prescribed for our dog. I was particularly impressed by how forthcoming the animal hospital was about what exactly they were going to do and how much it was going to cost -- they offered to write up a "care plan" (I think thats what they called it), and they went over it with us before proceeding with the initial check-up (e.g. were going to take a stool sample and test it for bacteria and its going to cost $X). Overall, I thought the final cost was reasonable, especially considering it was an emergency visit on a Sunday. The exam, stool sample, and waste cleanup fee was actually quite comparable to what we would have paid up in NY at our family vet. One final note - the facility was also very clean and I absolutely appreciated a follow-up call today from the vet checking in to see how our dog is doing. This is definitely a place I would feel comfortable bringing our dog back to in the future.

Worst vet experience of my life. I usually bring my 10 year old dog here for just check ups, blood work and refill of his medicine. So no real reason. I took him this last time (today) on emergency basis. I made an appointment at 5pm and wasnt seen till 7:30pm FOR AN EMERGENCY. I was told the ER wasnt even open till 6pm. Their communication sucks too along with their attitude/customer service. Meanwhile, my poor dog was shaking and crying in pain. Something Ive never experienced with him. I waited 2 hours before being seen then the vet (fresh out of vet school) literally felt around told me there was nothing she could do. She didnt think he needed a X-ray nor couldnt render any services for his hip dysplasia. I could write a detailed review but all I am going to suggest is to rethink taking your dog here. I will never return. I will warn all friends with dogs and never forget. I took him right away to his previous vet at the Flagler animal hospital in flagler. They are the best! The only reason I stop taking him there to begin with was because we moved. The 30 minute drive is worth every penny. Not to mention Flaglers prices were a portion of Atlantics. I walked out with four X-rays, two different type of pain medicine, blood work, a detailed exam, a instant shot to help his pain so he could walk and service you cant put a price on for $630. Atlantic wanted to charge me $560. For Only blood work and a walk in fee and added a check up because I asked about a bump on his ribs. Unreal.

We took our new puppy here when he was 6 months old because he suddenly started limping. They stated he had hip dysphasia. We purchased very expensive meds and were told this would be a lifelong ordeal. They stated we needed to see an orthopedic in ormond and it would be thousands in Medical bills. A few days after returning home my husband found what seemed like peice of a cactus plant in our pups foot so he removed it and the limp was gone. We never went back. This was a few years ago. Our dog is fine. I thank god I didnt have a good feeling about that visit which made me think twice about it ( especially considering these hip problems typically happen in the later years of life ) and thankful my husband found that pointy pricker. We dontated the meds to save the animals thrift and never went back. They did also try to push some sort of expensive savings plan on us which truly made no sense at the time considering we did not ask for it nor want to pay in order to "save" according to them. Perhaps theyre good now, we dont know however, we do know that due to our experience, we are unwilling to find out and have since gone elsewhere.

WAAAY OVERPRICED. Please read the other 1-2 star reviews for the reality of this business. Where do I begin. $1,000 estimate for teeth cleaning and extraction for my boxer. They offer a wellness program that saves you $600, but it costs $600 for the year... I went down the street and paid $406 for entire process including meds. They upsell non prescription meds that are extremely expensive compared to their safer, more effective, prescription counterparts. My cat ended up in the hospital soon after I applied the flea medicine that they practically forced me to choose($120 vs the $6 alternative that I was strongly discouraged from using even though it worked great in the past... my stupidity for not sticking to my guns). This was another $800 bill for the hospital stay. When I told them I need to return this unsafe topical flea medicine they refused to refund and said theyll take a donation though. After they practically made a grand off of me using this flea medicine they wouldnt even return the rest of the medicine. Save your money and go somewhere else.

My experience with Atlantic Animal Hospital South of Port Orange has been nothing but positive. I have been using them for close to three years now. My cairn terrier is super high strung and extremely anxious most of the time. I often go away and it is extremely convenient that they offer boarding services. The boarding facilities are large and very clean. If you are looking to board your dog you can rest assured they will be given multiple walks a day. The best part is that the emergency vet staff stays overnight with your pets. I didnt like the fact that some boarding facilities within the area do not stay with your pet overnight. There is always a vet on staff which I find very comforting especially with an anxious, senior dog. I also want to mention the office staff is extremely helpful and overall just genuinely nice. They go out of their way to make sure my dog is comfortable by making a comfortable environment for him.

On Nov.14, 2014, we had to have our 17 yr. old toy rat terrier put to sleep. We tried to save her, but she was just too old and ill. The staff was very caring and supportive throughout this trying time. The staff members sent us a sympathy card signed by many of them. On Nov.24, 2014, we adopted a rescue toy rat terrier, thinking we would never want another pet. However , we did and she is the joy of our life. Again, we chose to have Atlantic Animal Hosp. provide her vet care, and again we were well pleased with their care. They all seem to enjoy their work and their work place. We recommend them to all guardians of their pets. They are a bit pricey, but we were able to work with them. They are located close to our home, and are handicap accessible. We also used their after hour emergency care once. We were treated equally well. Thank you to all of you, especially Dr.James.
