Strike three. Banfield is out in my book. I have had three bad experiences with Banfield. The first, in St. Augustine, FL where I was told both birds could be seen, and only be charged for ONE bird, using the coupon. I was very clear with the receptionist that I had birds, no dog, and she said the Id only be charged for one bird. That didnt happen. $75.00 - ka ching. My second visit was w/my white Pekingese to have a dental cleaning done. I used the coupon for his exam because I was told by the S/Aug gal that since the coupon didnt apply to birds (although told differently on phone) I could use it on my dog. After much haggling & showing them the coupon given back to my by the S/Aug office, they waived the fee. However, the exam did NOT include apparently anything more than checking his temp and his heart. No touch & feel of body; no checking ears, eyes. Just lookin at his teeth (of course) & hyping up the price from $125 to a $400 estimate. I dont know about others, but before anyone puts my dog under, I expect a bit more of a checkup. This mornings visit was the same. I had been quoted a $189 dental cleaning fee (waiving the mandatory exam fee) and I was specific in telling them I would not be able to afford any cleaning over $200 - $300. Went through the exam which AGAIN, entailed only a heart & lung check, weight (which I did), and temp check. Took less than FIVE MINUTES. The "treatment" plan was a whopping $501.00 mandating two extractions. I told them I had specified that I could not pay over $300. Additionally, Im not keen on having extractions done without more of a checkup. I think if a pet owner wants or can afford preventative care minimally, that should be allowed. But the thrust of the exams in both cases is a big sales pitch towards buying a "wellness plan" at a whopping $400 (in installments) to include dental -- but still $300. So, for $700+ commitment, my poor dog can have his teeth cleaned. Regardless of their poor exam techniques. Although...hmm...maybe if Im a "wellness" carrier, perhaps the exam is more thorough? One can only start surmising such. In all three experiences, the bulk and focus of the time is spent having to listen to the "pluses" of buying into the "wellness" plan which is a whopping $200 - $400 annually. I dont want a wellness plan. I need my pets teeth cleaned. Period. Pay $500 for the procedure, or even better (for them) $700. And where did the affordable $189 - $200 ORIGINAL quote go? WITH probable extractions. You got it. Bait & hook. My pet and I dont have the time and desire to deal with a sales pitch when he is in pain and needs care. Do yours? I suggest your pet be taken to a LOCAL veterinarian who will get to know YOUR needs and your pets, or check with your local Humane Society or SPCA whose fees are mostly contributed back into the animal care community services for lower income or needy pets and their owners. I am warmed by the thought that IF I were charged a ridiculously high fee of nearly $1000, at least most of the money goes back into caring for animals on a wider scale than those with lots of money..not into a corporate bankroll.

I brought my dog in to have his lymph nodes tested for lymphoma or infection, for any reason why his lymphatic system has been swelling. A test that should have take 3-4 days to be returned. I wait and waited while practically forcing my dog to eat small amounts of soft food because he cant eat due to the swelling in his neck. He cant void his bodily functions properly due to the swelling in his groin. And his breathing sounds like a drum, a slow labored drum. I waited a week, then came in on the 10th and tried to get his results so we could go from there and I was given two excuses, ending with "well the vet has been in and out of the office, she hasnt had time to sit down and read them...... well call you later today or tomorrow" it has been 5 days and no one has called me.... no missed calls, no email, mail, NOTHING! MY BABY IS SUFFERING SLOWLY WHILE NO ONE HAS GIVEN ME ANYTHING! They guilted me into unneeded tests with dirty looks over how I keep my dog heartworm free and kill fleas and mites instead of stuffing him with medications that run high risks of terrible side effects, including chemical burns and a long list of other horrible things I wouldnt wish on anyone or anything. But the one test I NEED and PAID FOR so I can make decisions on ending my poor babys suffering or healing him if it is not the worse possible outcome. They gave him a horrible rash on his groin where the took the biopsy..... BUT NO! HERE I AM TRYING TO MAKE MY BABY BOY AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE WHILE I LIVE IN LIMBO! I AM SO UNHAPPY WITH THE SERVICES I HAVE RECEIVED AND THE LACK OF CARE ABOUT MY ANIMALS WELFARE. If I had another 400$ Id go to another vet and get things taken care of but here I am..... stuck. Now the vet is calling me trying to explain to me what went on. When I was there I know what went on. All I want is my money returned to me because I waited for them to tell me what was wrong with my dog and by the time they did what I asked my dog had a stroke from the nodes swelling in his brain and died. The day they told me I was going to have to wait 9 more days for the vet to talk to me. 9 MORE DAYS! But they sent a letter so they think its all okay....... I still havent received any letter. Banfield is useless and money hungry and when you have a complaint and want a refund, they jump to arms trying to cover their own asses. All I want is my money back so I can be done with Banfield Daytona.

You should have a negative 10 thumbs down !!!! Disgusted at Dr Orrs lack of professional ethics plus the sign posted in the lobby EMERGENCIES will be seen FIRST...which is what the case was, a walk in emergency of an ACUTE leg/ foot/ possible ACL tear with history of, Dog holding leg up HIGH not just off ground , even laying down. Warranted a walk out assessment by Vet...who should have them at least had them put in a room...no one waiting and even with patients in exams, and unless they are critical, or God for been being put to sleep....NO excuse Dr Orr did not get this walk in emergency in right then.!!!! And or having only one Vet on a Sat....THEN...having the girl at front desk sent the person and dog to emergency because Dr Orr could not step out for 30 seconds, to an Emergency Vet on Intl Speedway only to find they said they notified Vets NO DR would be available and to send to Port Orange Atlantic Animal Emergency.... which finally was reached. A Dog in obvious pain with OBVIOUS injury.....If Banfield and Dr Orr have no complaints with State of Fl Vet Licence Board yet...they WILL....and they should have sanctions or mandatory schooling and patient services...along with those girls at the front desk who outright LIE....come out after dog is off to a non existent Vet on a goose chase, oh NOW Dr Orr said hed look, after hell was raised..REALLY? Lie much? And some little brown hair punky Brewster smart mouth needs to be fired, but you DO NOT EVER get a stupid mouth with patients. YOU are a disgrace!!! Update...by the way smart mouth girl with green shirt, and Dr ? Orr....The dog DID have a serious injury after finding a real Vet...that was also disgusted by the lack of care for this dog! And the humans getting him help. A PAINFUL serious injury...... so since we were told you can not handle anything like a real Vet... .good thing one was found. God only knows what you people would have done..or not.....you are horrible!
