My first trip here was pretty good, but when I arrived I was given a different dentist than the one I had originally made an appointment with. However, when I explained what was going on, I was seen by the dentist I wanted (Dr. Megan). This left me a very good first impression of Forest Family Dentistry. Unfortunately, the problem came six months later for my second appointment, where once again my appointment was set up for the wrong dentist. On top of that, the dentist that I did not want to see wasnt even there and I was left sitting in the chair for over 30 minutes before anyone even explained to me what was going on. Then a third dentist, who I had never seen before, asked me if it would be okay if he took the place of the dentist I should have never had an appointment with. This third dentist, I think his name was Dr. B-something, made me extremely uncomfortable. I take really good care of my teeth, as such they didnt find any problems, however, this dentist who had not even read my chart (he told me this) tried to start selling me dental care (a retainer) that I could not afford. I explained to him that I couldnt afford what he was trying to sell (feeling extremely embarrassed that I had to admit I was too poor) and rather than accept that answer he instead tried to strong arm me into getting it anyway. By strong armed, I mean he literally said, "Yeah, okay, well, why dont we just go ahead and do that anyway." It was a complete disregard for my embarrassment and financial situation. After I had to further explain I couldnt afford it, he then tried to sell me a dental bridge (Im missing a molar, its a genetic thing, it never grew) which would have most assuredly cost more than the retainer. A further disregard for what I had just told him. So he ends up giving me a speech clearly intended on making me feel guilty that I was unable to afford either of these procedures. He talks about how damaged my teeth will be, but if thats my situation, blahblahblah. The gap that he wants to fill with a retainer or a bridge has been there since I lost my baby teeth. Its not from tooth decay. Ive had the gap for nearly 30 years, the first dentist I saw, Dr. Megan, didnt try to sell me any of this stuff. I dont know why this guy did. (Again, he did all of this before even looking at my chart) I was pretty humiliated at this point, but apparently that wasnt enough as he felt it necessary to push the girls at the front desk to print out paperwork about the retainer and the bridge and "instruct me on the details" -- BUT I HAD JUST EXPLAINED TWICE I WAS TOO POOR FOR EITHER OF THESE PROCEDURES. I would like to be clear, everyone other than this dentist was extremely nice to me. The hygienist was top notch. That being said... I came into Family Forest Dentistry thinking that I had found a dentist that cared about what they were doing, not a bunch of salesman trying to sell me things I really cant afford. I am really disappointed and have not yet decided if I will go back.

First, I want to tell my experiences with dentist in the past, then explain why I gave Forest family dentistry 5 stars. When I was younger, my mom took me to a dentist in a trailer. They never gave me any numbing shots. All they gave me was gas. I felt everything, and cried every time I was there. One time they had the big huge sunglasses on, and the gas mask over my face. They showed me myself in the mirror, crying, and said "But look how pretty you look!" Next dentist, they threatened to strap me to the stretcher chair if I wouldnt behave. Fast forward to when I was in my early 20s. I went to go get a tooth that was slowly yet excruciatingly painfully falling out, pulled. The dentist gave me 1 shot, walked away, and came back when it was fading. He almost mocked me, saying that no one could tell the difference between pain and pressure, and to be sure that was pain. I felt everything extremely well. He said that there was nothing more he could do, and he couldnt give me any more shots. I ended up letting that one go, and now Im missing all but the root. Now! Fast forward to less than a month ago. I cracked more of another tooth on my chewing side. I dont remember when, but what I believe was a filling had fallen out, and it then chipped more. I go into FFD since Dr. Robin had done his emergency wisdom tooth extraction, and spent the extra time to make sure it all came out instead of falling apart. That really made an impact on me. I ended up getting another dentist, but he was excellent. Anytime I felt pain or sensitivity, he gave me another shot, and I opted for the gas since I had to get my first root canal. Things have changed over the years, the TV on the ceiling with whatever I wanted from Netflix, so numb that I couldnt feel my face, and then on top of that, I was WAYYYY high off the gas. I felt nothing, and after my root canal and temporary crown, I only had to take 1 pain med after the anesthetic was wearing off, and one to sleep. The next day, the only thing that hurt was my neck from being in the chair for a while. Seriously, I had a root canal, and besides bite sensitivity, I felt NO PAIN! Today I just went and got my permanent crown on. It was a super tight fit, and they took the time to grind the crown down before it was perfect. I ended up having a conversation with the nurse about Sherwood Forest Fare. I felt SO comfortable with each visit. They even got me a pillow for my neck, and offered me a blanket. The kids Ive seen come through there have always had smiles on their faces, so if the kids feel comfortable, I should, and you should too! Definitely worth going. And they know that other things in the mouth need to be done, but they arent pushy about it.

As a first time patient at Forest Family Dentistry I had a positive experience. The staff was nice and always asked if I had any questions or concerns from start to finish. It was nice to be able to watch Netflix on the ceiling while getting my teeth cleaned, however my hygienist was a bit rough even though I told her that I have sensitive gums and they tend to get inflamed during cleanings. Im not sure if she could tell that I was flinching every so often but she seemed to almost be in a rush and not paying full attention to whether or not it was making me feel uncomfortable. I did end up with a couple of sores on my gums and under my tongue after the teeth cleaning. I will probably ask for a different hygienist next time. After the cleaning I talked with Dr. Meagan Scarborough who thoroughly explained my x-rays and the treatments available, including fillings and invisalign. She was super nice and addressed all of my questions and concerns and talked to me about some ways I could prevent further cavities (using a toothbrush with a smaller head and a prescription strength toothpaste available for purchase at the office). The staff at the front desk also gave me detailed information about my treatment options, the financing available, and how much my insurance would cover. They made sure that I fully understood the treatment plan which was really helpful! Overall it was a pretty good experience, I would just hope that the other hygienists are a little more careful and able to pick up on signs of discomfort!
