I have been going to see Dr. Martin for the last two years for primary care only and was ok with the services. The first incident I had was trying to get my FMLA paperwork completed by the doctor - he went out of town and didnt complete the paperwork or give to anyone else and then it took 2 more weeks just to have a nurse complete it after calling ME for the details. Then, the last straw! I called their office at 10:30 while I was on the way to my 10:45 a.m. visit and stated I MIGHT be 5 minutes late. They informed me at that time that if I was going to be more than 15 minutes they had the right to reschedule my appointment - no problem I thought. I signed into their facility at 10:51 according to their clock - it took me longer because there was no parking and I had to drive around a while to find a space. The place was crowded with people. I sat there for 25 minutes after they took my payment and no one was left in the waiting room so I asked how much longer it would be - I was told the Dr.s nurse should be with me shortly. 10 minutes later the nurse comes to get me, takes my vitals and tells me it will be a while. So I wait another 5 minutes (now having been there 45 minutes total) and asked the nurse how much longer she thought it would be - she didnt know. I asked what the hold up was and I am told that I must have been signed in late so she went ahead and took the 11:00 appt in before me and she didnt know when the doctor would get to me. I saw when the 11:00 checked in and she was there AFTER me! I asked to speak with the doctor for a split second and was told there was nothing the nurse could do. I then asked for the doctors email and was told by 3 different people the doctors dont have email - what, do they send notifications to him via telegraph? GIVE ME A BREAK and a point blank lie! So rude - I will never go back!

I contacted South Austin Medical Clinic as they were in my network and I needed to see someone regarding referrals and to acquire a primary care physician. The doctor listed by my health insurance agency didnt have any availability within the time frame I was looking for, but they recommended a physician that was newer to their practice who was still in-network and additionally had an available spot for a new patient within that week, so I went for it. My appointment was at 7:30 AM (I wanted as early as possible to ensure I could make it to work by 9am) with Dr. Calderon and I was instructed to arrive 30 minutes prior to complete required paperwork. I arrived at 7am, completed all paperwork by 7:15 and was promptly called into my appointment by 7:33am. Dr. Calderon was THE most pleasant physician I have ever encountered. Im not exactly sure what I was expecting, but I was very nervous going into this appointment as you always hear horror stories about patients, in general, not receiving the care they are looking for and my issues, to me, seemed very minuscule as to what Im sure others could be going in for. Dr. Calderon not only heard me out regarding my numerous concerns, but made me feel like she actually cared and wanted me to get the help I was looking for. There is a presence about her that is very gentle and caring which will keep me as a patient of hers for as long as I am able to be. I highly recommend Dr. Calderon to anyone looking for a new primary care physician. As for the office staff, I never felt like I was being spoken to rudely nor were they ever short with me. They are there to get my information, process my paperwork and ensure that I am checked in for my appointment and that is exactly what they did.

Love my doctor, hate the clinic front desk staff. I changed Primary Care Physicians a year ago because mine moved out of the area. Ive been seeing Dr Todd Canon and hes really great. Very thorough and seems to genuinely care about my overall health and quality of life. Ive had 3 visits with him and about 4 calls into the clinic for scheduling, questions, prescription refills, etc. Thats basically 7 interactions that I really recall. Every time they are overly curt on the phone, I get it, its busy and they have to receive and deliver info that is patient specific and private. There is still something to be said about positive delivery and presentation of the word no. They make it very clear, they dont care what situation or question you have, they want you off the phone and will not work toward a mutually beneficial solution. (This last one was about a form that needed to be signed while I was out of town. She said I can bring it in or mail it. I explained that I was 1200 miles away and asked if I could email or fax it. Her response was bring it in or mail it sir.) When I arrive, they have always been busy which is a good sign I guess, people must love the care they receive and just tolerate the office folks. They are very impersonal and when asking for info and payment, it just feels like theyre angry about your presence and dont tell you what they are doing, if you need to stand there, sit down and wait, or anything, they just work in silence while you stand at the window. Once they realize you didnt disappear, theyll say "Ill call you back up here to sign in a moment." Time to say good bye to Dr. Canon and find a small doctors office again I guess.

So I needed to find a new doctor for my children that were in network. I came across this clinic what a nightmare. First visit for the wellness check up I get to the clinic & they say you needed to get here 30 minutes earlier we need to see if u can be seen today. I told them I was not aware only for time given for appt. Then as Im filling out everything co pay is required for wellness checkup. Which is free so I thought according to my ins.She explains to me her office policy is pay for your visit & ins. will reimburse you (first time i heard of anything like this). There goes another thing that was no brought to may attention. Bad communication from this office from the start. To think how the service would be im glad i didnt stick around to find out. So a couple weeks later I tried to setup another appt. for my children to get physicals & she has the nerve to tell me since what happened in the doctors office last time I will not be able to schedule your children back to back on appointments. Wow because of their mis communication they want to stroll on a bad start with new patients. She said this was the managers doing so if your looking for a good atmosphere for your family turn elsewhere. When your loved ones are sick you want them to be well off not in a hassle before they are even seen. Good luck on finding a better clinic. Glad to put a review about our experience here to warn many others.
