I called Hearthstone Animal Clinic in attempt to schedule our next appointment and was informed that an exam was required. I expressed a concern with the vet tech, that I was confused with the inconsistency of required exams between my two dogs, as their vaccinations are only two months apart. The vet tech stated contradicting and false explanations, with her demeanor turning belligerent and insulting. This resulted in more confusion and additional concerns. In the end she was ill equipped and flustered and didn’t attempt resolution. Since Hearthstone could not explain the required exam prior to a rabies vaccine or detail the favor in which they list in their correspondence, their remedy was to terminate the relationship. With never speaking directly to the doctor, he judged me falsely through the vet tech’s fictitious accounts. They deem I am too cheap and not seeking quality care, as indicated by the correspondence sent by the doctor below. I have worked hard to attain my dream dogs; I am well aware of the cost and know this was not the initial reason for my inquiry, although the doctor and vet tech continue to insult and judge my financial abilities as their excuse. Hearthstone has proven that they are not the caring veterinary clinic they attempt to represent. Their reviews online seem suspicious, as they are each written in the exact same style and the previous negative review has mysteriously vanished. The doctor has even written the unprofessional comments on my animal’s medical record. Hearthstone behaving in this manner does not speak quality or standards. I am disappointed and embarrassed to even think I trusted my babies’ welfare in their hands. Note the doctor wrote on my dog’s medical record: “Owner called, she said she did not want to pay another exam fee for when she brought Sable in for the next shots. Myrna explained to her that the rabies was due, so she would need exam and then on the last set it could be a tech appointment. Owner kept bringing up the fact that I didn’t on Olive, so I had done a favor for her with Olive because we had seen that puppy recently for other issues and said it was ok. for the girls to give the shots. She was saying that Myrna was arguing with her, which she absolutely was not because I was in the room with her while she was on the phone with her. Ultimately, she just needs to try and find a vet that can better meet her needs. Ultimately, this isn’t the first time the exams and price have come up. Unfortunately, having two very large breed dogs money is always going to come into play. I would recommend either a low cost vaccine clinic, or different clinic. All will require and exam for a rabies vaccine.” Email received by the doctor: “After a review of recent events, we have concluded our standards of medical practice are not a good match with your choices for a continuation of a productive Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship. Therefore, at this time we are terminating our relationship with you as a client. We wish you the best of luck in finding a veterinary practice able to meet your expectations and needs for your pet(s) medical care. Im sorry that you feel that we do not care about your animals and nothing could be further from the truth. I pride myself on the standards of care that we have at our facility as do our clients. I just think its better for you to try to find a clinic that might be more willing to adapt to your needs. (I can promise you that any other veterinary facility will require an exam to give a rabies vaccine. ) I had done you guys a favor with Olive because of circumstances, and unfortunately that has turned around and worked against our clinic. Ive known Dr. Pelton for 10 years and he has ALWAYS shown my pets the best care. His willingness to get to know my two dogs in every visit has shown me he really cares about what he does, and that really puts me at ease. I know they are in great hands. With my last two "Golden Girls" left to care for Dr. Pelton has been amazing with them! Sammi, my 17 year old Husky, has been pretty healthy thanks to him! His recommendations and advice have helped me become a more knowledgeable pet owner and have allowed my girls to live very happily and healthy lives. Recently, Roxy, my 13 year old dachshund, began showing severe back issues. That was when Dr. Pelton opened my eyes to a truly remarkable alternative to back surgery, laser treatment. We started out very aggressively along with medications, and Roxy has recovered so well!! You cant even tell she was completely down! We are both amazed as to how well shes moving around, when we thought her end was near. I have everything to thank, to him and his friendly staff. Every visit is pleasant and I am truly grateful to him for everything hes done for my girls. Hearthstone Animal Clinic and Dr. Pelton is where I trust to take my pets because I know they are going to be given the best care there is. :)

Ive been a client with Hearthstone Animal Clinic for about 10 years or more starting with Dr. Hall and now Dr. Pelton. I currently have 3 cats under their care, and I can truly say their care is the best in the area. Ive had several scares with all 3 of them; one has diabetes, one has been blocked and required a special surgery to save his life, and the other has had crystals too, and each time Mary, Dr. Pelton and his stuff have been attentive, helpful and acted quickly to help my kitties. Every time I need to have one of them checked urgently I have the ability to drop them off on my way to work and pick them up at the end of the day. Whenever I need to order food it comes in quickly and theyve been so sweet as to offer to give me anything they have to hold me until the food gets here. Dr. Peltons practice keeps up with advances in vet medicine, he offers the best options and is reasonably priced. Mary knows me by name, and she has such a great connection with my family, she knows each one of my kitties and remembers their issues and special diets and that makes me feel that we are in great hands with them.

Ive brought my dog to Dr. Pelton since he was a puppy - over 10 years now. Initially Dr. P was with another clinic closer to the center of Houston that had multiple veterinarians there, but I would always request to see Dr. P. My dog unfortunately got Parvo as a puppy and Dr. P put so much energy (and love) into making sure my dog made it through. When he opened up Hearthstone, I tried another vet closer in town, but was so dissatisfied. It took me less than a year to make the move back to Dr. P. Fast forward 10 years, I now live in Kingwood and still make the drive out that way to see him. I wouldnt have it any other way. If you want a vet (and all his staff) that treats your animal like his own and gives that pet as much as attention as you do, Dr. Pelton is the vet you should choose.

I have been using this clinic for my pets since the first dr. and am very happy with his replacement, Dr. Pelton. Because of his new and innovative research, he was able to diagnose our female beagle with systemic mange and find a correct med so that she has not had an outbreak in over 3 years. They are always professional, courteous, and helpful when I have a question or need refills on meds. They even write prescriptions that I can use at HEB for meds they carry at a cheaper price due to purchasing in larger bulk quantities and "family plan discounts" offered at HEB. Dr. Pelton has always been honest with us, my husband and I, when trying to find out what was necessary and cost effective as we have 4 beagles and a cat. We love them all and Dr. Pelton and staff help us keep them healthy.
