An absolute God-send. NOT SURE WHY IT SHOWS 1 STAR!! This vet is a 5-star vet!!!! We have four labs, and weve brought them to Dr. Rutledge for various reasons (shots, exams, injuries, etc.) and every time he absolutely amazes us with his knowledge, his caring, and his cost-consciousness. Because, in reality, cost is a factor when caring for an animal. And he always chooses the treatment that is the best for the dog and the best for our wallet. Perfect example: last night, we discovered my dog had a deep puncture wound on her inner thigh from jumping onto a upturned twig. It was 9pm took her to the Emergency Vet, they performed a basic debridement, gave her a shot of antibiotics and pain meds then gave me an estimate to complete her treatment: over $700 in surgical procedures and labs. Said no thanks and took her to Dr. R. this morning, he says, "Its deep but surgery to clean it isnt necessary and itd be too expensive, so Ill give you a cleaning solution, do it 2x per day until Friday and Ill check her then." Total cost: $86. This is typical, when my other lab got a deep gash on her ear, he stitched it up, wrapped it up, gave me antibiotics for under $100... and then had me come back every 2 days for a week so he could check and re-wrap it... free of charge! I wish I could give him 10-stars, because hes worth it.

My wife and I just adopted a rescue puppy from CAP and took our new little furry family member for a check up, heartworm and shots with Dr. Rutledge. I can honestly say I chose this clinic because of the excellent reviews from various websites and what can I say; his clinic/staff does live up to their legendary reputation. They ask a lot of questions to get to know the pets behavior, they answered all my questions, they take their time during examination, and they are very gentle and friendly (as well as affordable!). They have a new patient for life and in the future I will refer anyone and everyone to take their pets to experience this wonderful clinic!

Dr. Rutledge and his team are great people. Though some procedures may seem pricey, and they are. I expressed how much I cared for my pet, and unfortunately I could not spend hundreds of dollars every day for my dog to get well. He helped me explore alternative routes, and he used his years of experience to help deduce and diagnose my dog the best he can. I am really grateful for his kindness and his team for watching out for me and my dog. I will definitely be coming back. If you also have issues with your pet, and unsure who to go to, Dr. Rutledge is the man.

I have been going to Dr. Rutledge for over 20 years. He and Pedro his 2nd in command are AMAZING. I would trust them both with my own life and the life of my children and our 4 legged family members. Dr. Rutledge and Pedro are caring, gentle and most of all HONEST. The prices are great. As consumers you need to educate yourself on your pets care and ask questions. Dr. Rutledge is always there to answer my many questions. He has taken care of my dogs for the past 20 yrs and will continue to do this until I die. He is THE BEST.....

I went here and was told that my dog would die in three days and just to take my dog to a specialist. The doctor even talked bad about me in front of my mother. They do not watch for your money nor do the expect you to ask how much it cost. Terrible doctor. You want to go see Dr. mcconaughey located at VCA Spring Branch Animal Hospital. 10109 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77043 She saved my dogs life and my dog does not have cancer.

We had a dauchshund with a spine problem and Dr. Rutledge was great. He understood that we did not have unlimited resources, but that we cared for our pet. When we called into the office or after hours, he was never in a hurry, but always very concerned. As things progressed, he told us how our dogs behavior would change in order to cope with her injury. He was right.

This is such a wonderful vet practice - they get down on the floor with the bigger dogs and chat with them before examining them. The dogs get so relaxed with this approach compared to having them stand on a high table. The prices are very reasonable, they have respect for their human clients and discuss options for treatment. I highly recommend them!

Dr. Rutledge is a great vet - very compassionate to both animals and people. He has cared for all of our pets over the years and has been so helpful, especially when we had to make some tough decisions. Also, the prices are very reasonable. We moved from the area a couple of years ago, but still make the drive back when our dog needs vet care!
