I took my dog in to have a small cyst removed from his eyelid. I left the dog and prior to giving him anesthesia they did a “liver function test” (surprise to me). I was told that the results indicated that he had some sort of liver problem and they would not give him the anesthesia unless we took the dog to a specialist for an ultrasound of his liver and possibly other tests to find out what the problem was with his liver. So we paid the vet around $300 and took the dog home. We then took our dog to the recommended specialist and after spending over $800 for an ultrasound and other tests, the specialist said the dog’s liver was completely normal. When I asked the specialist how the vet tests and his tests were so different, he said the vet sends their samples to a lab that normally does a high amount of equine samples and that could have been the problem because the machine has to be readjusted when changing from equine to dog testing. I called the vet and was told too bad, it was not their fault and their test results were good . . . but hey bring your dog by and we can now fix his eye ---- unbelievable arrogance. So now we have paid over $1,100 to have a 1/8th” cyst removed from our dog’s eye and we haven’t even gotten the cyst removed. Finding another vet.

I want to shout from the rooftops how wonderful these people are! We were visiting our son in Houston (from the Dallas area) and brought our dog Colby, per our sons request. As it turned out, his lease prohibited Colbys visit...we were stuck for the weekend with the dilemma of what to do with our dog. Our son found a doggy daycare close to the Lakewood Forest Vet Hospital. We mistakenly took Colby to Lakewood, thinking it was the daycare our son found. The entire staff was so gracious and helpful - even calling the Dallas vets office for Colbys (outdated) shot record and then providing much needed shots for him. They were closed on Sunday, and we were driving back to Dallas Sunday - another dilemma. However, again they saved the day (weekend) by alerting the Sunday feeder that wed pick Colby up in the morning during her feeding time. What a blessing! if I lived in Houston, Id get a dog just to do business with these precious people! They turned what could have been a nightmarish weekend into a carefree and wonderful time with our son! Shain Clark, Carrollton, Tx

I am a concerned pet owner, and quite possibly an overly sensitive one. That means I take my dog to the vet ALOT. The folks at Lakewood Forest Veterinary are always friendly, willing to help with big and small issues alike, and they never make me feel like just a patient or a number. The receptionist is engaging, friendly and calming. The intake team is responsive and prompt. The doctors and technicians are always caring and thorough - exactly what I want in my own doctor. I continue to refer everyone I know to Lakewood Forest Veterinary, for emergencies and other care of pets. I have been to other vets in town and elsewhere and believe that Lakewood Forest Veterinary provides the best care - hands down - of any vet. The staff treat all animals like their own. Couldnt ask for better !

LFVH takes care of both my dog (Corgi) and cat. My dog is always happy to go in there without anxiety because they treat her so well. The vets are good about balancing treatment recommendations with budget boundaries so that as an owner you know what really needs to be done vs. "recommended but not necessary". The staff there are all super friendly to both man and beast, and when I leave my dog there for boarding I know that she is cared for (not just fed). People truly have a heart for the animals in their care. 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes there is room for improvement in communication, but this is still a really good vet clinic, boarding facility, and groomer.

The staff at Lakewood Forest is great. They are always friendly, seem to genuinely care for the animals, and the owners. We recently had to be referred for some diagnostic testing that Lakewood did not offer and ended up having to put our pet to sleep. This was heartbreaking! I received a call from Lakewood about a week later letting me know how sad they were to hear of our familys loss and that they really got to know our pet and cared for her while she was being treated there. They also sent a note with condolences. They ultimately have compassion for the animals they treat and the knowledge to treat them.

The attention and care you receive here should be the gold standard that any profession should strive to live up to. We started visiting LFVH when we lived nearby, and recently had to move, but we still make the 45 minute (one way) drive to bring our Boston Terriers in for their care... through Houston traffic. THAT should speak volumes on its own. I cannot heap enough praise on the kindness, the concern, the care, and the level of awesomeness that you will be met with from Dr. Borland and the staff (especially McKenna, shes 15 kinds of awesome). You guys are amazing!

I dont even know where to start! Dr. Coursey has been Rex & Ryans doctor since practically the beginning of their life (theyre 5 now). Dr. C has seen it all with them and has helped us maintain them in the healthiest state possible using traditional and homeopathic care. Of course Im biased and think I have the worlds best MinPins, but I know it has a lot to do with the great care that Dr. C has given them and us. Our family gives Lakewood Forest Vet four thumbs up and eight paws up!!!

Ive been taking my animals here for years. My parents started bringing our dogs here when I was a child and Ive continued taking my dogs here as well. I went in today to get heartworm prevention for my dog. Theres always been a cat having out at this clinic, but today there were at least 3 loose cats that I saw and one loose dog. Also, the tech that gave my puppy his shot was barefoot. Least professional experience Ive ever had coming here. I think its time to find a new vet.

I have been using Lakewood Forest Vet for many years, first for my own 2 cats and more recently for an assortment of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that I foster through the Houston Humane Society. Dr. Coursey without exception, is terrific, and I have presented them with many difficult cases over the past few years. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and their fees are reasonable. They are usually able to accommodate me the same day. Highly recommended!!

Love love love! Just another wonderful review to show my love to all the doctors and team at Lakewood Forest Veterinary. They took exceptional care of my 19 year old cat up to her last days and now take care of my new kitten. Every time I go there I am greeted with warmth and respect. Everyone is super understanding of my financial situations and they always try to work with me on my limited scheduling as well. I absolutely love this place and now my mom does too.
