My Love
My dog had a HORRIBLE experience at this vet clinic recently. They completely traumatized him while he was there for a procedure. They were supposedly removing his IV catheter before releasing him, while I was in the waiting room to pick him up, and suddenly I could hear him screaming bloody murder (not normal behavior for him). When I heard his loud screaming, I begged to go back to help calm him down and they REFUSED. They said he wouldnt come out of the cage for the staff, but then refused to let me go back and help get him out. The screaming went on for at least several minutes, non-stop and LOUD. I was absolutely horrified and just beside myself, helpless to do anything since the staff refused to take me back to calm him. I just cant describe in words how awful an experience it was. He wasnt himself for at least a week after he came home, and acted as if someone had injured or abused him. When they finally did bring him to me in the waiting room, he was shaking severely, was wet and smelled bad because he had urinated and expressed his anal glands all over himself from being so frightened, plus his front leg was covered in blood from where theyd removed his IV, but apparently didnt apply proper pressure or dressing to control the bleeding. Dr. Taylor, meanwhile, was right there witnessing my extreme distress over hearing my dogs screams (everyone in the waiting room heard him, because they were extremely loud, blood-curdling screams). DR. TAYLOR DID NOTHING TO INTERVENE, APOLOGIZE, OR TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT WAS HAPPENING, HE JUST STOOD THERE AT THE FRONT TALKING TO OTHER STAFF AND THEN TO ANOTHER CLIENT IN THE WAITING ROOM, WITH MY 9 LB. DOGS EXTREMELY LOUD SCREAMS DROWNING OUT CONVERSATIONS. Front office staff, including the office manager, were unhelpful, condescending and so extremely rude, in fact, that another client actually intervened and told them that she worked in customer service and that they needed to apologize to me, and to learn to practice better customer service skills. I will never use Dr. Wesley Taylor again, or recommend his practice, after this last horrible experience. He also, in my experience, always appeared to be very focused on profit margins, and charges seemed comparatively exorbitant.

I enjoyed the experience there but some of the bait and switch moves I didnt like. I was told prior to my dogs surgery that the checkups were free. On my way out the door they attempted to ask for a consulting fee that I had no clue about and thankfully that was something I didnt have to pay for after telling them about it. After my dog got out of surgery and it was about 2 weeks or so as I am busy and cant get to them, I scheduled a a date and time to come in for his check up. Without informing me that there will be a cost, they got me to agree to check his leg via xray and gave him meds to put him to sleep and wake him up(But didnt tell me it was a cost even when told the check up was free as one would expect this is a procedure to check a dog anyways). I go to leave and they attempted yet again but this time over $100. After explaining to them I was told FREE check ups, then the doctor started to patronized me about when the dog is supposed to be in(Would be nice that you told me it was a REQUIREMENT rather than not speak at all). So the last check up I did it was in and out without any switch up methods. This is a good company but needs to not only state it, but needs to put in the initial paper work of all fees to be paid, how they are to be paid and WHEN they are to be paid. You dont just pick and choose when to say "ok its going to me $100" after telling the people its a free checkup. You guys dont even have a consulting fee posted on the desk at the least and attempt a $30 unknown charge. If you ask people to agree to something and it will be a charge, you need to state that with an agreement form as well, not get them to say yes and a sudden charge pops out of no where. Order of process and standards are random, had to take him somewhere else as I got to the point where I felt they treated me different anyways. I mean if you are going to charge then say so from the start. Update: After i spoke to a couple people around town, it seems they never got asked for a consulting fee. So im considering this place literally trying to nickel and dime me at this point. never again.

I brought my young dog here because they were highly recommended to me by a couple friends of mine. She has been having skin troubles, and I had heard this place was great for dogs with skin ailments so I was excited to give them a try. I was hoping to have found a place to switch my 4 dogs and 2 cats over to as our regular veterinarian since between them Im needing a vet quite often and am very particular about their care, so was excited at the chance to find the place for us. Pros: The staff was very kind, and the facility clean and appealing. I was greeted warmly at the door, and everyone treated me and my fur child very kindly. The doctor seemed knowledgeable and had good recommendations to help my little dog get better. Im VERY pleased to report that 3 days after my appointment my dogs skin is finally healing after months of battling with it at another clinic. This doctor really does know skin and finally offered her the help she needed. Cons: I was uncomfortable with the fact that they removed my dog from the room and did her exam and treatments in the back away from me. It makes me nervous not to see how my dog is being treated particularly in a place I am not yet familiar with (though dont get me wrong I have no suspicion she was mistreated in the least), and I would have preferred the opportunity to discuss and observe with them while they were doing her exam and treatments. For me, the real shock however was the price. Their prices were quite high, and I was shocked to come away with a $350 bill for a skin check. While I liked the doctor and staff and am very thankful for his help, I wont be using this clinic for routine care due to their prices. I would recommend them for someone experience skin issues in your pet however.

I cant say enough good things about Dr. Taylor and his staff here. My cat had been in his usual state of health when he suddenly got very sick, and I knew we needed to find a local vet to take him to. Highlands-Eldorado Vet Hospital did not disappoint. Not only were they incredibly nice and accommodating of my terrified cat, they offered explanations for every step they took and did all of the appropriate testing. Dr. Taylor kept my cat overnight for IV fluids and had him in surgery the next day for a small bowel obstruction. He and his staff called me to keep me updated, kindly answered any questions I had, and let me check on my cat as much as I needed to. My cat is very skittish and timid around strangers but he warmed up to Lauren there very quickly, who kept him company and checked on him at night. I was incredibly touched that both nights my cat had to stay on-site, staff always came in at midnight to check on him, including Dr. Taylor one night. I felt like my cat was really cared for. As a non-practicing physician who was used to working with humans, I felt really happy that my beloved pet was getting practically the same kind of attention that a person would get in the hospital. With even better support for the family in some situations! My cat recovered incredibly well post procedure, biopsy results came back promptly, and the closures were expertly done. He was extremely well cared for afterwards, too, with several follow up appointments and subsequent antibiotic shots. Theyre open late hours some days and on Saturdays which is really helpful for rigid work schedules. And the staff is very warm and friendly. Your pet and personal concerns for their health couldnt be in better hands here.
