I came here when I first moved to San Antonio bc of the good price for the contact and eye glasses exam. I went in recently bc my vision is not as crisp as I would like it to be OR SHOULD BE, more on the left eye than on the right. Its very blurry. I literally told Dr Ambramson this many times and he gave me the same prescription as last years. He said my vision was fine and that my prescription would stay the same. He managed to figure this out in about 5 , 10 minutes top. The exam was very quick and not done properly. I left the office very confused. I continually covered one eye at home then the other testing myself. It was obvious something was wrong. So I went back and he checked me again and said the same thing. When I was persistent that I could not see as clear as I would like and supposed to he said "here see if this helps" and says "I upd it 25". And gives me contacts to wear out. I asked him if he could change the prescription on my paper and then he switched and said nothing had changed and I was sitting on zeros even had me look at the machine like I know wth Im looking at or what he even talking about. Now Im super frustrated at this point bc i still cant freaking see and hes just not getting it. I walked outside the building and noticed things clearer but still different, so it was obvious he had done something different. So I literally walked right back in and he had someone back there already. I told the secretary I felt like he was just giving me anything like my vision was not important. Ill up it here and there and not write it down. She insisted that everything was fine and would not let me go into the room to check the number on the lenses he had just given me to wear out. So i had no choice but to leave. I called the next day wanting my money back so I could go some where else legit. Some how me not being able to see offeneded the secretary bc she decided to argue with me about MY VISION. She wasnt even working the day I went in. She acted very unprofessional and unsympathetic. He called back to decline personally but offered another recheck. Like Im supposed to trust him again with my eyes. This would be the 3rd time going in. So today, after 2 weeks of saving, I finally got enough money. Since Im a single mom its hard to just throw down 100 like nothing and Easter is this weekend. Anyways, I got my eyes checked and sure enough he was way off and he failed to mention the fact that I have stigmatizism in both my eyes MAINLY MY LEFT WHICH IS WHY I WAS SEEING SO BLURRY! Honestly I think he was too freaking lazy to give an effort and for sure is greedy. I took my new prescription to him today hoping to get my money back. But he yelled at me in front of my kids and refused when there is no refund policy anywhere in his office and i sure didnt sign anything. When i asked him about this. He yelled "IM TELLING YOU THERE IS NO REFUND". In front of my children, while Im holding my daughter. He even called sercurity on me. Seriously true story. I dont feel like a Dr who gets someones prescription wrong twice or even in the first place deserves that patients money. I wonder how many other people he has done this to and they just trust him bc hes a Dr. I know its hard with money these days but dont waste your hard earned money or your husbands. Stay away from this place pay the extra 20 -30, go somewhere else, promise its worth it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS WHACK DOCTOR. And FYI it wasnt the Mexican security.

A COMPLETE SCAM ARTIST!!!! Do not use this "Doctor", he is very rude to start off with, and obviously is only trying to take peoples money! I scheduled an appt. with him for a Saturday afternoon, after walking in he was helping another patient, and as soon as he exited the room with her he asked if I had any insurance.... I told him no, and his responst was PERFECT, well you have an eye infection that I am going to need to clear up first. He was also more than 6 ft away from me, in the lobby... so I asked how he knew, and he told me that he knew because he had been doing this for 15 years...(very rudely) I then asked what kind it was, and he clearly chose something off the top of his head.... he said it would be around $60.00 this time and $100.00 the following week for the actual exam.... Well I couldnt believe this, since I had no signs of any type of infection.. so I left and went to an optometrist that I had previously been seen by... He actually examined my eyes..through microscopes and lighting...and told me my eyes were as healthy as can be! Dont fall for this mans cons.... I am currently filing a complaint with the TEXAS BOARD OF OPTOMETRY about him, because he was very unprofessional.

I should have read these reviews before going to see this man who calls himself a doctor. He also diagnosed me with having an eye infection before examining me. Actually, his secretary, who Im pretty sure does not have a medical degree of any kind, diagnosed me with an eye infection first. A rather economical way to triage, Ill give them credit for the attempt. I am a nurse practitioner. I thought you were suppose to assess the patient first, and then make a diagnosis. He didnt bother to ask any other questions first. He told me I had an eye infection that needed to be treated. I dont have an eye infection. I was there for a well exam. I left without being seen. Dont waste your time or money on this clinic.

This dr. is a crook. Besides the fact that he is NEVER at work during posted hours, he invents reasons to charge you outside your co-pay. IF you decide to use him, please be aware of your benefits before you go to him. This 37.00 fitting fee that he charges for contacts is not charged by alot of ODs. Besides the fact that he dx me with an eye infection without even doing an exam. He is not even supposed to make this diagnosis, he should send you to an opthamologist for this, not diagnose and prescribe eye drops that he says will cost you $4 but actually cost $23 at the pharmacy. Just beware if you decide to use him.

Dr. Jack is WONDERFUL!!! He is not like any other eye doctor I have been to...he tells it to you straight! Dr. Jack really cares about his patients and will always do what is right for us - PLUS he notices things that other eye doctors have not mentioned - like steering my husband to get his cholesterol checked (it was very high) and reprimanding me for not changing out my disposable lenses. I had problems forming in my eyes which my other eye docs ignored but not Dr. Jack! And thanks to him, my eyes are healthy again! Thank you! P.S. service is friendly, professional and fast - I highly recommend this doctor!
