I took my puppy here to have his teeth looked at and was told that not only does my puppy with near perfect teeth has Stage 2 gum disease. But I was also lectured about how my dog needs training. Mind you he trains daily. He barked at another dog and whimpered the rest of the time we were there and we were treated like my dog was a bite case or severely aggressive. They rushed us into a room and employees would peek their heads in to ask a question and acted like they were afraid to be near him, which only made him more excited. Not only were the employees very rude and unprofessional (I overheard an employee say "Does she not think to train her dog?") But the veterinarian comes in and gives me a lecture on his behavior? Tells me to get a different harness and better training classes. God forbid an actually aggressive dog comes into this clinic needing vet care, if they act this way toward a PUPPY who is obviously excited I dont believe they are equipped to handle an adult dog that gets hyper or excited much less any dog with any kind of actual dog aggression or behavior issues. He is a puppy and no matter the amount of training at this age he will have slip ups because he is young. I left the clinic crying because of how awful they treated me and my dog. They also put us in a room that was according to the tech "Not clean but cleaner than the other rooms." Take your pets elsewhere. Update 26Feb17: I recently received an email from the veterinarian who I saw at this establishment. I wont bother getting into the details of the email, because all that it included was excuses for their lack of professionalism. The only time they bothered sending an apology for their behavior was after I wrote a review instead of when I was in their office. The fact that they sent an email to me afterwards, shows how they were wrong. Now they just want to bribe me with materials in the hopes I change my review to a positive. Which will not happen. Their lack of sincerity and professionalism was ridiculous, and hopefully these reviews help change their act. I truly hope no one else has to deal with their ridiculous, childish behavior. This is to include the vet I saw, as well as the employees who insulted me, and treated my dog without respect, not to mention right in front of me. To the vet, keep your compensation, the review is staying put, I wont be taking your bribes or excuses for your behavior. DO NOT email me. DO NOT respond to me any further. I am not in need of your business, there are better veterinarian offices near me.

My little Yorkie, Sofie, was really having a hard time with allergies - always scratching to the point of bleeding - she was so miserable. After numerous visits to our local vet, I was finally told that there just wasnt much that could be done. Now we all know that our animals cannot speak, and they depend on us to keep them healthy and happy - so, after seeing the positive reviews about North Star Animal Hospital, I decided to make an appointment and get a second opinion. I no sooner arrived and they called me back to be seen by the doctor. I cant say enough good things about Dr. Youssef - he is like Dr. Pol and The Dog Whisperer all rolled into one!! He gave Sofie the most thorough exam I have ever seen her get - and was so gentle that she never even squirmed or barked! It turned out that she had an ear infection, a tooth infection, skin fungus, and allergies!! They gave me a shampoo, ear wash, ear medicine, skin medicine for fungus, and some allergy pills. I came home and shampood Sofie, washed her ears, gave her the ear medicine, fungus medicine and allergy pill. Within 2 hours, I had a totally different dog!! She was running around the house playing with her toys - she would "hide" from me and then jump out to "scare me" - honestly, she is the happiest I have ever seen her in 6 years!! I dont even know WHO this dog is! My only regret is that I didnt seek out a second opinion earlier. Our new veterinarian will now be Dr. Youssef, for sure!! And I love the staff - they are so sweet and kind and always have a smile for anyone who walks through the door. And they keep every room absolutely spotless. If I could give better than five stars, I would!! They set the bar very high for their little furry clients - and their owners! Thank you NSAH - for making my little Sofie a happier, healthier dog - and a happy dog is a happy owner! You all are THE BEST!!! UPDATE: It has been 2 weeks and Sofie just had a follow up check up - she is doing AWESOME! She will have her infected tooth pulled next week and I have all the confidence in the world for Dr. Youssef - and the staff!! Sofie has a full body of hair - very soft and shiny - and an endless supply of "kisses" - thanks to Dr. Youssef!!!

When we first got our dog he was 6 weeks old and I did extensive research on animal hospitals and the plans they offered. After looking at this place online and calling to clarify some questions I had convinced my boyfriend this place was perfect to take our new baby. The first time we walked into this place it smelled AWFUL, like animal pee--it was pungent. Despite that we went ahead with the puppy plan. Honestly it really helped with the first 4 months and we were happy. Then we were told we didnt have to bring him in for another couple of months for a checkup. I went in a couple of times before that because my puppy was acting funny and I wanted the vets opinion. I was NEVER told about discrepancies with our account. However, 2 months later when it was time to bring him in for his recommended checkup we were told by the lady at the desk that our payments had stopped and we were behind 5 months! Nothing had changed, not the card or account number. Not even our email addresses or phone numbers. I asked how come we werent notified the payments had stopped and their reply was it was glitch on their end so they wanted to charge upfront for the months we had missed in order to proceed with anything for our dog. We agreed to double the amount to catch up because they said we couldnt pay after our plan expired which is in February. However, this month they charged our account 3 SEPERATE times all within the span of 2 weeks when they told the last payment would be February 20. Also, we took our dog in last week to get a nail trim and again it smelled terrible. They dont clean their exam rooms, there is fur everywhere! Theyre overpriced. We found another vet in the middle of our plan with North Star who charged $10 less for the HartGuard/Nexguard combo. Also, every time we took our dog in to get a nail trim theyd make his nails bleed. I would expect them to be professionals. My dog would legit limp sometimes after and hes a big dog. He even bled again hours after. They have been the worst headache. I know they have good reviews for the most part but I would never recommend them to anyone.
