I went to Dr. Michael Nielsen, a family practice doctor at the clinic. He isnt a bad doctor, but his front desk staff is absolutely horrible. On one occasion, my pharmacist had some concerns with my prescription. I went to the clinic and asked to speak with the doctor about it. The front desk staff refused to let me, running messages to him instead. Finally, the woman told me that Dr. Nielsen was offended that a mere pharmacist would question his prescription, that my pharmacist was an idiot, and that she would tell him herself if necessary, but I had no right to bother the doctor about such stupid things. On another occasion, I called to refill a prescription. The lady who answered asked for my pharmacy. I had been ordering from overseas because the medication was much cheaper, and I explained this to her. She spent five minutes lecturing me on how it was illegal to fill prescriptions out of the US, then refused to refill the prescription unless I came in for an appointment "to see if my health had been harmed by illegal pharmaceuticals." When I agreed to come in for an appointment, she told me there were no slots open for two weeks. I had no choice but to go to another doctor, because I only had 3 days of my medication left and I have to take it every day. (For the record, the other doctor had no problem refilling my prescription and found nothing wrong with me.) I would recommend Dr Nielsen, but his front desk staff makes that impossible. Steer clear. It isnt worth dealing with them for an hour in order to see the doctor for five minutes.

I called a month ahead to make an OB appointment, thinking that was plenty of time to get in and get refills on my medication. Turns out they were two months out, that was disappointing but my own fault for not thinking to call sooner. I just figured Id deal without my medication for a month. Then a few weeks later they call me back, saying that they made a scheduling error and I would have to go see the doctor at her Ogden office instead of her Layton office. When I explained that added another half hour onto the half hour that I was already planning to drive (making my drive 2 hours round trip), the assistant was unsympathetic and said "Well, if you cant make it I can schedule another appointment for you at the end of April." Which is 3 months away from when I originally called! The assistant did not apologize once and was rude, as if the scheduling error had been my fault somehow. After their mistake they did not even attempt to accommodate me or make it right, or at the very least apologize. I asked if any other doctors had any appointments sooner, and she instantly responded no. She didnt even check. At this point, it doesnt even matter if the doctor is amazing or not. I will never go back to a clinic that doesnt care about their patients at all. Thank goodness Tanner Clinic accepts SelectHealth now.

I am giving this review one star simply because Dr. Nebeker is a FANTASTIC physician but in every other aspect I detest this clinic. I have never once had good service. I am ignored each and every time and am also made to wait while employees finish chatting with each other. I dont usually review, I dont make the time to indulge in internet bashing but I hope sincerely someone who is in a position to affect change at the place may see this and take action. I walk into the pharmacy and they will glance up wordlessly and continue whatever it is that they are doing; I have never seen a culture of such insecure and poorly nurtured communication skills at a facility that exists as a place of healing! They verbally abuse and undermine other physicians with whom I am compelled to communicate which undermines their own positions in deference to their opinions of those far more competent. Sloppy, crude, and poorly managed from the ground up; IHC should and usually does do so much better. It is terribly easy to be kind and provide a modicum of good customer service, one must wonder what kind of management has fostered and festered this attitude of disdain for those lining up to pay for it.

We have been patients for years at this clinic. We love the doctor, but it seems like the doctors dont know what the nurses are doing, who dont know what the patient needs who may not completely understand the "rules" of their insurance. For the past 2 years we have had trouble getting the correct diagnosis codes placed on the lab work my husband has done prior to his annual exam. When it isnt coded wrong it takes FIVE MONTHS to correct - its been coded wrong 2 years running. We have called the drs office and left messages explaining the issue (they never let you talk to anyone - you leave a message, they leave one back for you at the receptionist desk - you never ever speak to anyone who can actually do anything so you get a huge run around). When the problem occurs again you have to leave a message and then everyone plays the blame game. It was the insurance, no it was the lab, no it was the doctor, no it was the nurse, no it was patient and around and around again. VERY FRUSTRATING! Basic labs like a CBC, which everyone gets, are not coded properly and although inexpensive should be covered by the insurance wont be because they fail to their job correctly.

I received horrible service from Kathy. I went in because I had horrible throat pain and thought it might be strep. When I first went in, the receptionist was very nice and cordial. I was prescribed a painkiller, which after taking for a day, was still not strong enough. I couldnt eat or sleep. I called and the same receptionist told me to come in the following morning and they would call the doctor and prescribe me something stronger. The following day I went in right as the Urgent Care opened and that is when I met Kathy. As soon as I walked in the door she asked me, "Do you need to see a doctor or something? We dont open for 2 more minutes so youll have to sit there." Wow, I couldnt believe that she worked at the same clinic as the receptionists the day before. She was rude and refused to help me or contact the doctor, even though he was there, at the clinic taking patients. Ive never been treated so unfairly and needless to say, I wont be returning to this clinic ever.

My boys have been seen here often. Weve always had excellent service and for any times we have had to wait a bit, we remember weve never been ignored and on occasion, extra time was spent to explain various therapies to us. Our main pediatrician, Dr. Catherine Strasser, has always been kind and intelligent. Weve also seen 2 others and were treated just as well. ......I love that IHC has a computer system that I can access easily and that notes from any doctor in Layton, IHC urgent care or Primary Childrens can also see their history of care. ..........Ive only had issues getting through to make appointments but have found this to be true of most places. At the end of the day, I trust the professionals here with our familys health.

Weve been seeing Dr. Aird. He is fabulous. He always spends plenty of time answering our questions. Ive seen a lot of people saying theyve had to wait a long time to see their doctor. That has never been my experience. We are always pulled back quickly. I also saw Dr. Wood while I was pregnant. I never had to wait long and I never had a hard time getting an emergency appointment when I was having complications. Not sure why others are having problems? I dont like the fact that if you went into labor early, you would have whatever OB is on call. Especially since I had a really really bad experience with one of the OBs...... luckily Dr. Wood was on call the night I went into labor, but other than that, Ive had positive experiences.
