If your pet needs medical care PLEASE read this before you decide to go to Confederate Ridge Animal Hospital. I recently took my elderly cat to them based on a recommendation and I quickly learned that I should have done more research before making that decision. I was not impressed with the front desk staff as I felt they definitely lacked customer service but....I was not really there to see them, I was there for my cat to see the vet. Dr. Collins was the vet that we were placed with, she was very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. After doing blood work, Dr. Collins explained to us what the results were and the prognosis for our cat, which of course was not good, answered our questions honestly and told us we could take her home, spend time with her, process everything and that she would be in on Saturday from 8am-12, to just call and come in and they would fit us in because she wouldnt leave a sick animal to just wait (suffer). I considered everything, knew I had to do what was best for my baby and not for me and called Saturday morning & explained to the girl who answered the phone what Dr. Collins told me and that we would should be there around 11:30am, my husband and I put our baby in her basket and got her all cozy for the trip and a lady from Confederate Ridge calls back and tells me the girl who answered didnt realize they had an appointment at 11:30 to euthanize and they could not rush that, which I fully agreed with, I then said we could come right now (10:50 at that point), she said nothing, I said well we can come after and she told me that Dr. Collins had an engagement that she could not be late for so no, if we had come at an earlier time it wouldnt have been a problem. A problem? Gee, sorry but I didnt want to HAVE to put my cat to sleep, sorry I didnt call you earlier! Are you kidding? My husband contacted Princess Ann Animal Hospital & they told us to come in & we were able to do the right thing for our baby. Thank goodness at least one vet in this area truly cares about the animals. Oh and by the way, Confederate Ridge sure didnt mind taking my $195.00 on Friday night and no just for the record they DID NOT give me the 15% discount they supposedly offer to new clients! I wouldnt recommend them to anyone for any reason!!!

The two vets I have seen were very good but I am NOT happy at all with the office staff! I get my one dogs nails trimmed every 4 weeks since he has paws that wont allow his nails to be worn down. I was told BY them that they should use the dremel tool since it would make the quicks go back because of the heat....so I have done that for 4 months.....TODAY I was told that was NOT correct by the woman at the front desk, so I said well trim his nails then because he needs it.....YEP they trimmed his nails and made TWO bleed...which THEY didnt even catch...I was fuming.....called and asked to speak to the office manager LORI and she told me she was the one to trim his nails and made him bleed and giggled...SORRY I DONT SEE THE HUMOR IN THAT!! And then I tried to discuss what I was told by now the front desk woman and LORI tells me something different again!! I asked her what Vet I could talk to and see what the TRUTH is since I am hearing two different things....I am so pissed and frustrated!! NO offer to make it up to me for the "trims" that I paid for that were doing NOTHING! UPDATE!! Sent an email request from their website to have the owner Doc Witter call me...that was on Tuesday....havent heard a word......

Boarding - I trust these folks with my dog. They are very flexible and do what they can to accommodate boarding her around my busy travel schedule. It is comforting to know she is staying with her vet. They are good about reminding me to update medications, shots, etc., when I come in. Medical - My pup had been staying with my girlfriend while I was on travel and had a round of very severe seizures that landed her in a emergency clinic - this was entirely stressful. We had her transferred over to Confederate Ridge where she was monitored until I got home. I spoke with Dr. Collins (from California) and she ran me through what was going on and the plan for care. I was immediately relieved that she was where she was. Dr. Collins made quick work of calibrating her new meds, which she warned would make the pup woozy/drunk-ish. Within a week I had my hyper puppy back and have I have seen no evidence of seizures since. So, like I said... I trust this folks with my dog.

I just called today to find information for boarding our dog for our upcoming vacation. The person that answered the phone was very short with me, speaking very quickly, and was not helpful in the least bit. When she started rattling off the shots our dog needed to board with their facility she said them so quickly I did not get every shot. When I asked to repeat the names she was very abrupt and rude to say the least. I would not recommend this location for your pet to be boarded unless you want to be treated as I was. I recently visited them to have my furbaby put to sleep due medical reasons. My previous vet treated my pup and I with the utmost disrespect. The staff at Confederate Ridge Animal hospital had some of the best caring and compassionate team Ive seen in awhile, they took care of not only my pup but me as well. They made a memorial stone for me of my pup. The service I had that day was beyond excellent and I will be seeing them as my primary vet.

By far the best vet around, from the level of care they exhibit, to the readiness they have too. Every time weve had an emercgeny they have been able to see us in a timely manner. And the cost is low too. I highly reccomened everyone to bring their pets here

Amazing people. Never feels like you are just at the vet but he service is more personal. Have been using Confederate Ridge for years and Doc is great as well as the staff.
