Never go here. Ever. I am furious for several reasons. Ive been here quite a few times in the last few months. 1. Every single appointment I have made has been rescheduled. Several of them were at 8:00 at night, the day before my appointment was scheduled. 2. I have had 5 cavities filled and one root canal done here. All of my fillings hurt. All of them, and its been over a month. They are obviously not done right, because I cant even floss between two of the teeth that were filled. It gets stuck and I have to cut the floss out. Either that or it hurts terribly. 3. I dont even know what they did with my root canal. The first appointment was to take all the nerves out. They then covered it with a temporary filling which only lasts for 2 weeks tops. So I scheduled the appointment for 1 week later to get the permanent filling (core build up) done. The tooth hurt so bad that whole week, and the filling was coming apart piece by piece, even though I wasnt chewing on that side of my mouth. The night before that appointment I get at call at 8 pm saying the needed to reschedule my appointment and didnt have any openings for 3 more weeks. So during a different appointment for a cavity a week later, I mentioned how badly it hurt. Then all of a sudden they could do it. I am 100% sure they didnt take out all of the nerves. It STILL hurts so bad, when everything I have read and the dentist even told me I should not be able to feel the tooth because all of the nerves have been removed. 4. 2 weeks ago I get a call asking if Id like to schedule an appointment for the rest of my dental work, and I politely declined stating that I was going to go to a different dental office. Now today, I get a bill stating that I owe them $100 from random amounts I apparently didnt not pay for a few of the services provided to me. This is not true, as they have you pay in full at the front desk before you even receive any treatment, which I have receipts and my bank statements to prove that I did. I have called several different numbers with no answer. I was on hold for 15 minutes only to go to voice-mail. I just find it odd that I only now receive this bill after saying Im going somewhere else.

My family and I are rather new to Virginia. My oldest daughter was really bombed about leaving her old dentist behind in Florida once we moved. However, she was all smiles during and after her first appointment at Kool Smiles (Portsmouth location)!! My daughter (age 8) and son (age 2) loves the indoor play area , which is a nice addition, that sets the tone for a positive dental experience. The office was nice and clean during both of our visits and the staff was nice, patient, and friendly as well! Another fact that I think is worth mentioning is that the area where the pediatric patients get their teeth cleaned is one spacious room, where multiple patients are getting their teeth cleaned simultaneously. It was a little awkward for me at first. However , my daughter stated that the open room made her feel more comfortable because she could see other children getting their teeth cleaned. My 2 year old was also very cooperative and calm during both visits and I think that had a lot to do with the fact that he could see his sister right across from him getting her teeth cleaned. If youre new to the area its definitely worth checking out!!

I think they call my phone off the hook to tell me about an appointment that they made on there own. I understand my son needs a check up, all the text, call, e-mail, and call me again after hours to make sure I am at an appointment I did not make in the first place is to much. So I move it to 2:45pm because they had him coming in at 9am and he was in school. His dad stops what he is doing to go take him seeing Im at work, I call them and tell them he is running 5-10mins late and she comes back with you will have to "reschedule" WHAT! REALLY!! I asked was this a joke and she said "NO we do not have a grace period" never again will any member of our family use Kool Smiles. They have had us sitting in the waiting room for over an hour at times before they even call him back. Its like they try to pack as much money in as they can with no care of the patients or the use of customer service. Its all about the mighty dollar for them and that is not the kind of people I want working on my son or family.

I have been back and fourth at the Kool smiles in Portsmouth for about 2 weeks now. They have went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The staff was excellent. I wasnt expecting to get to the treatment we received after reading the reviews. However, we didnt have a long wait. My daughter was happy and all smiles when she was done. They explained everything to my husband and I from the beginning to the end. Just goes to show you. You shouldnt knock it till you try it. I have 4 kids that will be going to Kool smiles to get there teeth cleaned and 2 for braces. Im very pleased with this place. I definitely will recommend one thing. Get a early appt. Cause some people just dont known how to control there kids. Other then that. Were 110% happy with everyone from the staff to the dentists. Thanks you kool smiles in Portsmouth for giving my family a beautiful smile. Keep up the excellent customer service. The Martinez and Lopez family

This is the absolute worst dentist experience I and my children have ever experienced. Though my children vary in ages; I tend to accompany them for the full appointment. The child I am referring to is medically disabled with type 1 diabetes. She went for a routine visit. The dentist gave her too much gas and she lost consciousness. If I wasnt present to stop the dentist when I noticed her going limp I am sure she would have died. The dentist felt she wasnt in any danger. Im certain if I didnt act swiftly she would have been a casualty. One of the most terrifying moments in our lives. Needless to say we have never revisited. All future appointments for all children were immediately cancelled. We were so fortunate to walk out with our child alive. No one offered an apology to date. I do not recommend this office. Children are irreplaceable.
