By far the worst vet experience Ive ever had. The ladies that assisted were awesome and worked very well with my dog, but Ive never met a more rude and condescending doctor. My German Shepherd and I had just moved from out of state, and she was starting to have a lot of pain in her back legs/joints. When Dr. Beachy entered the room he didnt introduce himself or make eye contact, he stood as far away as possible with his arms crossed, looked at my dog and the first words out of his mouth were "Youre tails between your legs. Why is that? You dont want to be here, do you?" Then without trying to get to know her, he crouched down and reached around her neck, and with her being between myself and the man she didnt know or trust, naturally she snapped at him...no teeth bared, hair raised, or growl, just a warning snap. He immediately tensed up, walked out of the room and slapped "CAUTION!" stickers on her paperwork, returning with a very condescending "It would have been nice to have been warned about that". I apologized, explaining that its never been an issue and shes usually very laid back. His response? "Psh. Yeah. Usually...I want her muzzled right now" I cant imagine what response I would have gotten if I would have said, "Before you start, doc, as I mentioned, shes still adjusting to a new place, is in a new office with 2 people in this tiny room that shes never met before, is in extreme pain which you can see just by looking at her, and oh, dont try to grab her around her neck which she could interpret as reaching for me, because as you know shepherds are very protective." After a few more derogatory remarks, complaining how he was having a doom and gloom day, he came back with her blood work results. After asking if she had been eating and drinking ok (yes to both, she floors me with how much water she drinks) he then insisted that some of the high/low results of her tests were due to dehydration. So, on top of owing a vicious dog, Im apparently a liar too. Thats not the kind of interaction I was looking for after shelling out $245 on an office visit, blood work and 2 week prescription. I refuse to go back for a follow-up. I wouldnt trust my dog in his care if he were the only vet in town.

I recently moved to Auburn from out of state and was very worried about finding a vet here that I could feel comfortable with. I first went to another vet. He was nice but didnt talk to my cat and I had to wait until the next day for test results. When I talked to him, he didnt discuss what the possible reasons could be for the drastic change in my cats T4 blood level (she has thyroid disease and has been on medication for years). He changed her prescription and told me to have her blood level tested again in 2 weeks. When it was time to take her back in, I wanted to find someone I felt more comfortable with; someone who would explain everything and discuss the treatment options with me. I got an appointment at Auburn Valley Animal Clinic and am very happy I found them. Everyone there was very friendly and welcoming. The nurse/vet tech spoke with me for quite a while: she was very thorough and very easy to talk to. Then I met the doctor and I think hes wonderful. He asked lots of questions and we talked about possible causes and treatments before he even looked at my cat. He was very good with her and I could tell she liked him. He re-ran the blood work and we had the results in less than 15 minutes. Then we talked about the medication. He was concerned that I didnt have to give her too much at once and even called the apothecary I use to have the dose increased so she could take a smaller amount. I cant say enough about the people here.........I liked them all very much. It is obvious that they love animals and want to help them. They talk to the animals just as I would expect them to and explain everything thoroughly. I will definitely be bringing my other pets to them and will recommend them to anyone!

I have been taking my pets here for years and after my experience today I will not be returning. My wife brought my dog in for an exam and shots. We also wanted to get the oral flea medicine which required the exam. During the exam my wife asked about a spot in my dogs eye, and the vet offered to take a look at it without disclosing to my wife it was an extra $30 or so fee. She found out once it came time to pay before leaving. The vet also said she needed antibiotics for a skin infection caused from itching at flea bites. I declined it because my dog had very bad reactions to them in the past when she was taken in for similar issues, with the very same doctor. As soon as we declined the antibiotics he left the room abruptly, Im told by the office staff because, "he had other patients." When my wife asked about the shots, he said he wasnt going to administer them with her, "intense infection". They gave her shots when she was 1-3 years old, half bald from chewing, covered in scabs, from a much worse infestation if fleas. I know my dog after 9 years of taking care of her, and they just brushed us off like we were terrible owners. They refused to refund me the extra fees for the eye test, stating they didnt need to disclose the cost if we asked him to look at it.

I was hoping I would have a good experience as the other visitors but I had the opposite. this vet was VERY VERY VERY rude. the girls at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. when it was our turn to be seen the vet just came in, didnt even bother to say hi or introduce himself or make eye contact/look at me. he was very rude with a cranky old man demeanor. my dog was panting so I gave her a drink and when the vet walked in he made a snide remark and said " ugh looks like someone spilled water and didnt clean it up" he was talking about the dribble mess my dog made that I attempted to wipe up. i have an adoptee and would like to get her registered with my county. i need "altered" verification and i asked if he could verify if the scar she had was indeed her spay scar he says "well how am i supposed to know? i wasnt the one who did her surgery" his tone was very rude and harsh. i will not be taking my Boxer back nor will I recommend this vet

This vet mis diagnosed my dog telling me she was dying from cardiomyopathy and if I wanted to take her to a cardiologist I could. Beachy had her on lasix ...a diuretic ...for almost a year. Of course I took her to a cardiologist and she told me that although she has mild cardiomyopathy she certainly did not need to be on those meds ad they had dropped her blood pressure so much she had no energy. She also told me that what my dog had was bronchitis and could benefit from prednisone. We gave her that in combination with an anti-histamine. She was better almost immediately...running around like a puppy despite her young age of 12. My dog always shaked when he would enter the room...he is also mean to his staff. I now take my dog to another vet and despite that she gets poked a d prodded she doesnt shake. I guess that saying is true...If your dog doesnt like someone trust their instinct!
