This hospital is an embarrassing establishment. No genuine medical help and a restructuralization of real life until it was not recognizable or even legal to involve sanity with real life was all that was received. There is no amount of apology that will make this place okay with me. Covering up crimes seems to be their speciality as well as selling out patients to exceptional degrees. Furthermore the staff has no religious knowledge and inducts patients into religious belief building that drags them further away from any beliefs formerly had. The treatment is not founded on the "legal" records that they are made individual patients by but rather on the personal beliefs of the staff, doctors, and people claiming "grievance" of the individuals mental breakdown. My personal faith in their belief system of a science was shaken and obliterated upon the involvements with this hospital. Their treatment plan seems to include making your life as boring and illegitimate as possible. Including denial of proper treatment based on budget and laziness, and/or belief of the person inquiring for proper treatment. To expect fair treatment from the professionals in this hospital is a farce and for lack of a better term a belief that is delusional on several levels. Because they are professionals that are not recorded personally and only records of the patients exist there is no wonder that they are immune to such accusations of the above. I am officially insulted to be associate with psychology and psychiatry to a degree that I know I will be harassed and made to appear insane for so much as writing this review, whether it is founded on truth, fact, or otherwise I know it will be made to be insane ramblings otherwise making them immune to a negative point of view.

Two years ago on this day, at Western State Hospital, my son went outside at 7:40 pm to smoke. He did not return. NO ONE LOOKED FOR HIM. He died out back in your port-a-potty. He died of Spice poisoning. He died of using the drug you were supposed to be, BUT WERE NOT treating him for. You were informed of his bringing this drug in and smoking it. He was not the first, and not the only one to do so. You told me you didnt know what to do about the Spice problem. You refused to deny him off site privileges. I begged you to stop letting him leave. I said Spice would kill him. You turned your head. You let him die. I live without my beautiful son, his son lives without a loving father, and his sisters live without their loving Brother. At 8pm tonight, you declared him missing, but you did not even go look for him, right out your back door...and he died there.

it was hard when i went there but then i realized they were like the only family i had i actually miss it so much all the support and miraculous things they have done for us they helped a lot they cared and they did there job and respected us as that they knew what we needed good place i miss the memories and relationships i have built there. This place can help with all kinds of experiences i know that for an experience. i had ups and downs but i needed the care because my family and people around me didnt do that when i was young but my treatment went great thanks to all floor staff and peers i have met and both doctors and nurses and the boss Amber Robinson of orcas witch i like to say.

Trying to get a simple clerical position there has been frustrating. After three months of waiting to hear (after what I thought was a good interview), they decide to cancel position. Union problems? Discrimination? Who knows. UPDATE: Offered a nonpermanent position as a mental health technician. No job description. Hostile work environment. Loved working with the patients; helped them progress. WSH is trying to turn things around for the better, but it is difficult when old-timers run the wards and want to do things their way; not always the best way.

I can say with complete certainty that WSH is so poorly ran on many different fronts that it makes it a toxic place for both staff and patients. Resentment, disorganization, retaliation, secrecy, lack of communication and conflict between staff in general, between staff and supervisors, between the treatment team and the risk review board and between the office of consumer affairs (Kathy Davies and Laurel Lemke) and the rest of the wards makes for a huge unwieldy mess. It absolutely amazes me that the hospital could possibly receive any positive reviews.

Western did a miraculous job working with my schizophrenic 34-year old son. It took 3 1/2 years, but each month, I could see progress. They were careful and meticulous in his care. They were cautious in transitioning him back into our community. Their commitment to their patients is exemplary. I cannot say enough good things about Western State Hospital, in general, and S-7, in particular. You guys are awesome. You gave my son a chance at life for the first time in 15 years!! We can never thank you enough!

Been here myself and it is a waste of time...they lock you up for three months while giving you drugs, then release you to crap them out and go after the bastards that sent you here in the first place with anything sharp or explosive...this place needs to be burned to the ground on how pathetic the treatment is and i plan to...this place is a joke of a asylum and anyone can bust out of here, especially me!

I was not what I expected.. hard to find where to go but everyone you ask everyone is very nice and helpful and they make sure you get where you are going.. The geese are a kick. The family visiting rooms were comfortable and you can bring in outside food so that was nice to share a meal with my family member. The staff are wonderful and I appreciated their care and attention to my loved one.

This is a desperate, frantic place-- over-worked, under-paid, under-appreciated staff. Because of minimal well-trained staff, SAFETY must be the highest priority, which means that actual therapy/recovery/treatment takes a back seat to "crowd control". Patients/prisoners are there doing Time, rather than being treated for illness. As a family member/state voter, its very difficult to watch~
