1. People who are reviewing DermaSpa should put their review on that site. 2. I have gone to Dermatology Assoc. since Jan. 2011 and have had an average of at least 4 appointments per year (my skin is really good at growing melanomas). Until my first appointment in Jan. 2017, my service provider was Mike Brown, P.A. He was wonderful. However, I found out in Jan. 2017 when I showed up for my appointment with him that he had left the practice. A review of my appointments with Mike would be unhesitatingly 5 star. However, dealing with other staff for 3 appointments has drastically changed my opinion. In Jan. 2017, I had a full body scan with Dr Tu. He has the bedside manner of an artless pottle-deep barnacle. He refused to speak to me as an adult human and brushed aside any concerns I had. He is a horrible person to interact with, but he appears capable as a dermatologist. He found a mole that needed to be biopsied. I do not have a medical degree, but I have had MANY skin biopsies, and I know I prefer a punch biopsy. They are much easier, less painful in the act and in healing, and heal much more quickly and easily for me. However, he decided to do a shave biopsy. It may have been the correct approach medically speaking, but my further interactions with him leave me in doubt. When the pathology report came back on the shave biopsy, it showed that more of the mole needed to be removed. EVERY time Ive had additional removals done at Derm. Assoc. they have taken a scalpel and removed the entire mole plus a little extra area to be safe. Then I would get a stitch or two or five. No big deal. Nearly painless and always heals quickly and well. I went back to have the mole removed (or so I thought). I was 6 minutes late (accident on the highway and I live 40 minutes away). The receptionist said that since I was so late, they would have to reschedule me, but to do me a favor, shed check to see if they would still see me. I was quite upset because I have literally spent hours in their waiting room (4+ appointments/year over 6 years) and no one has ever even told me they were running behind, no less say I could reschedule if I want or offer to compensate me for MY time. Then, I was supposed to be grateful they would see me, since they were running 45 minutes behind. Dr Tu brought in an LPN (which was fine). Dr Tu talked her through the entire procedure and explained why he was doing what he was doing (completely ignoring me). I would have no problem with this if he were explaining medical concepts or decisions based on science, but he literally told her how she should write up a chart for someone like me to make sure the insurance company paid them the most amount of money. Insurance pays more for removing moles over a certain size - so make sure to estimate the diameter of the mole on the high side if youre not sure. Insurance pays more for this kind of procedure than that kind of procedure, so we do this. We dont have to see the patient again if you do a shave biopsy but we would if it were incised. That costs us money and time and insurance doesnt pay for it... I understand that Derm. Assoc. is a medical practice as well as a business. However, it was BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that Dr Tu is ONLY there for the money. He has no regard for the patients at all. Had an appointment for a full body scan today. I saw a PA or LPN, I think. She was kind and fairly punctual. A medical student (I was never asked if it was OK for a medical student to be part of my exam) did the initial eval. Then the PA/LPN did the scan. She never looked at my hands, even when I had concerns. She never looked at my feet. She only looked at my scalp when I said a had 2 lumps, but only looked at those spots. Never asked about keeping up with eye and GYN appoints. Never checked moles with magnifier (perhaps on my back and I didnt see). She did ask 4 times if I had any questions or concerns, but I didnt realize how much she did NOT do until after I left. I shouldnt have to remind the practitioner to actually check the entire body on a full body scan.

I cannot say enough about Dermatology Associates of Rochester. They have perfected the art of customer service. When you walk into the office you know immediately that you have made a great choice. I am 40 years old and my stomach as well as the fat on my back around my bra had bothered me for quite some time. I had lost weight but I still wasnt happy. I decided to go in for a cool sculpting consultation. I met with Katie Green for the consult and she was so thorough. From the start she was very upfront on what to expect regarding results. I knew that I wasnt going to walk out of there with the stomach I had before kids, but I knew it would be better. My expectations were realistic and I think that made me a good candidate for this procedure. Katie was also great at knowing where I should have the cool sculpting in order to achieve the best results. I was tempted to override a few of her suggestions due to cost or just not thinking that the particular area would make a difference. But I am so glad I listened to her suggestions and went with it. I went back after two months and we took another round of pictures. After seeing the pictures I actually started to cry. I could not believe the transformation! I am so pleased; it really was worth every penny. Dr Weitz is also amazing! Katie did the actual procedure, but Dr. Weitz was there to answer any additional questions and provide another outlook. They make a great team! As far as PAIN...my pain tolerance is extremely low...this is why I will not have a tummy tuck. Cool sculpting is more than doable for someone like me. I was sore for a week or two but nothing that stopped me from doing my normal activities. I really feel so fortunate to have selected Dermatology Associates of Rochester. I look forward to working with Katie and Dr. Weitz again, as well as the rest of the staff, to continue to better my outer shell. I am thrilled with my results! Thank you for going above and beyond. If you have been treated here you will know what I mean when I say they truly go “above and beyond”!

My appointment with Dr. Tu of Dermotology Associates in April of 2017 was very unsatisfactory. I went in to have a full body scan which I had never had before. He did not check my body but instead referred to the record from two years ago where I was there to have a growth on my back checked. A doctor did not see me but an assistant said it was a benine growth and she attempted to freeze it off. It did not work. So this this time I wanted to see a doctor so I might have the full scan and a revisit on the back as well where since last visit unusual flat grey spots had formed on my trunk. Dr. Tu did not look at these but brushed it all off as "growths and skin changes that occur with aging". His only other comments were to not wear nail polish as he couldnt see under my nails and to be sure to use sun lotion with sun block...really?..I had no idea!!! Dah!!! Before rushing me thru with his non stop chat, he reached for his freeze gun and without any warning zapped two spots on my face near my eyes. I asked about skin tags on my neck that were bothering me and he said insurance did not cover their removal and left! He did not even give me a chance to say that Id be willing to pay for their removal! What he did was give me the old fashioned bums rush!! He suggested I make an appointment for one year from now. That will not happen. The only thing I can say in a positive vein is the office staff are pleasant. I will never go there again. Now I will have to make an appointment with another group to have the full body scan. I am a senior over age 70 and wonder if this treatment of seniors is common practice from DrTu. I might add that I am also a college grad with a Masters degree and did not appreciate being treated like I was lacking in brain power! Dr. Tu gets poor grades all the way around!!
