My wife just delivered our second child here. Staff and OUTSIDE PRACTICE doctors are wonderful. RESIDENT doctors unethically attempt to induce pregnant mothers with drugs in what seems like a transparent endeavor to keep beds open. Are doctors now paid on turnover ratio? What about prescription drug dispensing? Furthermore, the entire staff OUTSIDE of the nurses on the 7th floor are unprofessional and rude. Within 24 hours after my sons birth my wife and son were awoken numerous times by people hawking photography to offers to set up "online medical records access login/passwords". Why do I want "professional" pictures of my two day old child with jaundice and bruising from the stress of delivery? Thats like taking "professional" photos of a hot air balloon thats 5% inflated. Thanks, but come back when he learns to tie his shoe, ride a bike, or brings home the prom queen. And tell me again why I need two young girls invading my familys privacy to offer to set up our online Crouse medical records access? Cant I do that on my own? Should I bring my laptop next time so these two broads can defrag my hard drive and check for Malware while theyre at it? Since when does Geek Squad make door to door sales pitches on infant care floors within hospitals? Ridiculous. The PRIVATE time directly after a birth is crucial between mother and child and the last thing they need is CONSTANT interruptions OUTSIDE of the standard health (vital) checks of baby and mother. Lastly, my family had to stay an extra day due to the gestational age of my child. Typical health insurance only covers a two day stay. The staff set my family up in a "Mommys Place" setup which meant that care continued, however food and other amenities did not. Knowing that my wife was going stir crazy to get home after 72+ hours in the same room the staff seemed to lose the attention to detail regarding the blood work results my wife and child needed to get the green light to be discharged. My son had his blood drawn @ 11:00am and my wife was promised results "within the hour". It is currently 2:00pm and I am still at home waiting on a text on whether or not I can bring my family home. Unsat. Maybe next time Ill become so enraged that Ill start smashing things, but politely agree to stop "within the hour". This is a service industry, no different than a hotel or restaurant. If we plan on having more children these instances will weigh heavily on our decision to deliver at Crouse. Perhaps the staff on 7 could meet with the resident doctors on 8 (Labor and Delivery) and come away with some of their penchant for moving patients through like a fast food fu*king drive through. I am not naïve to the fact that staff is busy, but the disconnect between a pleasant experience, which includes an expedited admittance and discharge process, and professionalism of some staff is far too great for our liking. If the rest of the staff on the 7th floor was as professional and courteous as the nursing staff and lactation consultants the facility would be a definite 5 stars.

Very grateful for the couple of nurses and Drs that helped keep my baby alive during his stay in NICU. However, its sad when I look back...4 years later I still think of how some of the nurses behaved poorly toward not only my family but other families and even some of the cleaning staff. Id often overhear nurses saying "Oh I wish they (the parent) would hurry up and get here and take care of their baby. Im tired of babysitting" not caring that some of those parents either lived far away, had other children to tend to at home, low on gas/lodging money, and or had to go right back to work. We also had nurses belittle us because we lived over an hour away and had other work duties to tend to and couldnt always be there. They belittled me by saying I need to be there everyday and I tried my best! But all they did was make me feel worse. Trust me I wanted to be there 24/7 with him. Especially knowing and worrying that he was in the hands of such rude workers. They assumed I didnt want to try to breastfeed after my baby came off of the feeding tube. They slipped up a few times and said how they gave him formula in a bottle. Although, I had breast milk in the freezer. I seen them belittle a cleaning woman because she couldnt speak English well and mixed up the area that needed to be clean. Instead of nicely pointing her the right direction...they made fun of her accent/English and belittled her by saying "Were nurses we shouldnt have to deal with janitor duties" as if they were above her and she wasnt even human. It was disgusting to see some of these awful nurses were actually the ones taking care of our precious little babies. Some of them just seemed burnt out and had no compassion or joy for what they did. It was obvious these were the type that only became a nurse because they heard the money was good and jobs were in demand. I will say it was mostly the younger nurses with this behavior. The older nurses were so kind and warm. Those sweet nurses gave us the type of experience that everyone should have in such a fragile situation. But, sadly some of my time there was tainted with rude nurses. I wish I could look back and say it was overall a wonderful experience. Hopefully those childish nurses are no longer there, and future parents of babies in the NICU never have to experience that type of disrespect. Especially when theyre already in such a fragile state.

This was by far the worse experience Ive ever had at an ER. We were taken to the ER after Prompt Care determined they could do nothing further for my daughter. We sat in the waiting room with her IV port still in for 2 hours before anyone came to check on her. They took another blood sugar reading at that point and the nurse said, "I just dont know if I want to give you food and put you back in the lobby or put you in a bed." They put us back in the lobby without food for another hour and a half before they moved us into a room. She was hooked up to the pulse and BP machine and left alone, again, without food or juice or another IV for another hour before a nurse finally came in to take those readings. She asked if anyone had been in to see her yet. We said no, and could she get her something for pain, some food or juice. She said someone would be in shortly. Another hour and a half later, change of shift, finally our night nurse came in and we told her of the negligence. She got her a cup of juice and some crackers and peanut butter. Then she told us the results of the CT scan and blood work and attempted to get a "Provider" in to see us. We finally saw a provider after being in the ER for over 5 hours. She was then given a "cocktail" to combat the vertigo and migraine. They left us alone after that again, and when the drugs kicked in her heart raced up to 175 and NO ONE came to check on her when we called the nurse and the machine was beeping with red lights flashing. We spent over 9 hours between Prompt Care and the ER with great care at Prompt Care and then could have died in the ER and NO ONE would have realized it for hours!!!! Horrible place to go when you are sick and need help! We will never go there again unless we have a death wish.
