I have a 7 yr old female GSD. I called today to make her scheduled appointment. I was lucky they had an opening for this evening. I came to my appointment to get her normal annual check up plus to discuss her health and some of my concerns. I first discussed her eating habits and diarrhea. The answer I got was, " It could be something simple to a larger problem." I asked like what and again it was a vague answer. I then discussed the possibility of removing a few cysts and getting them tested. The answer was Ill give you the prices. The final discussion was about changing her dog food and if it would be beneficial. She is on TOTW and read some things today that reflect her symptoms. All I got was, "It could help." I paid $52 for a local check up with none of my questions answered for approximately a 15 minute appointment. The vet sent me into the other office as I waited a short time for the technician to give me the cost of process of elimination for my GSD issues. The cost from basic blood work to more extreme would run me $1500. I didnt get an answer of what these tests would eliminate except a few. As i left I get a flyer about allergies that the Vet felt I should have. I just paid $52 for 15 minutes with a Vet who is supposed to be the expert and all i got was vague answers and a flyer that at no time he discussed when I paid for his services. He didnt explain about allergies nor was it ever brought up. But for my $52 I got a flyer and a bill that could cost me $1500 for the process of elimination. I was pretty unhappy with no answers or a costly solution for my issue. I spoke to the technician about the displeasure and asked to speak with the Vet. I was told the Vet was busy but I just left his office 5 minutes. I asked again to speak with the Vet. Again I was told he is busy. I told the technician to let the Vet know, "Im not pleased with the service I received today." I live a block away from this facility. I got home and called again to speak with the Vet. Again, He was busy. I asked for a call back and told it could take 24 hrs before I get one. I was not yelling or screaming, just politely asked to speak to the Vet. I know when you provide a service that you do what you can to make your customer feel, they were taken care of. Today I was not. I now have to wait another 24 hours to see if I can get answers.

The dog I adopted is great, he is smart and learning quickly. I gave them 2 stars however because of the poor quality of information I was given during the process. First I went to pick him up this past Friday and was told (24 hours AFTER I had paid the fees and signed all paperwork) that I could not take him home yet because he had a possible leg fracture and they hadnt x-rayed it yet to know for sure. Now he was brought in on the 3rd and this was the 11th. How do you have a dog under your care for 8 days without addressing a possible bone fracture?!?! And this was the third time i was there and the first mention of it. So I asked to speak to a supervisor and relayed my concerns and they called me less than 2 hours later to say that they had done the x-ray and it had been reviewed so I could come get him. So it took less than 2 hours to x-ray, review, change my adoption paperwork to include "adopt at your own risk" (which is offensive in itself to write that, like he is damaged goods or something) and call me back but they hadnt done that in the last 8 days. 2nd I was told several times hes 2 months old. I took him to the vet today and found out that he is 5 months old. The amount of food you are supposed to feed a dog is based upon age and weight so I could have been under feeding him this whole time. Good thing we are working on sit, stay, lay so hes been getting plenty of treats to make up for the lack of food. 3rd I took him to the vet today and found he had caught a cold while @ that shelter. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. I want to end this by saying please dont let this stop you from getting a dog from here, please get them out of there asap! I love the dog that I got, I just want to make sure everyone does a check with their own vet after leaving from there to make sure you have accurate, reliable information. Oh and they put the wrong breed on my paperwork so I have to go back to city hall to get it changed.

This place has had a bad reputation ever since word got out that the are contracted by the City of Syracuse for all strays to be brought there. If the lost pet is not picked up by the 5th day it was brought it (the first day counts as day 1) the poor animal is put to sleep. We live in a civilized society so the animals brought in are not "wild animals". They are peoples pets that are outside. Yet to make more money this place will kill peoples pets. THEY KILL ANIMALS RIGHT AT THE DEWITT ANIMAL HOSPITAL FOR "STRAY OR LOST PETS" FOR THE CITY OF SYRACUSE. Contact the city council or the mayor to confirm that Dewitt Animal Hospital has a contract with the City of Syracuse to do this. It is no secret. Does it make anyone suspicious that except for one review, there are 30 some odd reviews for this place and all 5 stars? It seems the staff has their work cut out for them making up reviews that actual customers havent even put on here. Very suspicious and obviously not honest reviews by real people. Check out and see what the average amount of views for a place is on google, for a vets office. 1, maybe 2. Either they made them up themselves or contacted all their customers asking them to put up positive reviews.

I visited this vet last night after being recommended by another vet who had no openings. I called on the phone to make an appointment and was told I could come in anytime between 2:30-5:00pm with my dog who was in pain when urinating and was doing so every few minutes. I was told by the first vet that I should have her seen immediately, which is why I went to this place. On the phone with the receptionist here, I told her what was wrong with my dog, and told her that I would be in a meeting until 4, but would arrive around 4:30. She said that would be totally fine. I arrived at 4:30, signed in and waited in the very small and run down waiting room. My dog was very nervous so I told the receptionist that we would wait outside. At 5:20 a nurse came out ready to sign us in, I went in and they asked me what was wrong with my dog (for the third time) and proceeded to tell me that they could not see her because they "did not have the time". I had already waited for 45 minutes and had cut a meeting short to get her there with plenty of time. Staff was rude and unhelpful and I will not be returning here ever. ( I didnt want to even give it one star)
