Dr. Ira Handschuh and the Dental Design Center are the gold standard for dentistry in the tri-state area. I’ve lived here for almost twenty years, and in that time, for a variety of reasons, have had almost as many dentists! After bouncing around from practice to practice, and suffering through the work of dentists of questionable skill and the lukewarm work ethic of their front office staffs, I was delighted to find Dr. Ira Handschuh. My initial appointment was for an emergency, and he saw me immediately. He did not just address the emergency situation (a crown that was MIA), but did a complete cleaning and examination to thoroughly familiarize himself with my teeth and general health. The fact that Dr. Handschuh conducted the entire visit, including the cleaning, himself, was my first indication that this experience was going to be different. Following the cleaning, exam, and x-rays, Dr. Handschuh sat down with me and explained everything that was going on in my mouth, not only with my missing crown, but with all of the other quirks, oddities and areas of concern. He didn’t withhold or hoard the technical information, but rather treated me like an intelligent adult who could handle all the details and had a right to know them. At no time during the appointment did I feel rushed, and I was invited to ask questions both while I was in the office, and afterward by either phone or email – handily paving the way for getting answers to all those questions that pop up on the drive home. From the waiting room, to the exam room, to the appointment and billing desk (artfully and professionally overseen by Dr. Handschuh’s wife, Robin) going to the Dental Design Center is a treat. I always leave feeling like this is a dentist who really cares about how I’m doing, and will do everything he can to make sure I’m getting the care, information, and help that I need. I’ve been a patient of far too many dentists, and I can say with confidence, there really is no one better.

I was so happy when a co-worker referred me to Ira Handschuh, after my dentist retired. I was in a period of challenge with my teeth and wanted to find a dentist that would make improving them a positive experience. On my first visit, I discovered that I had found a dentist, which I actually enjoyed going to! I had a very good dentist in the past, but through my experiences with Dr. Handschuh, I realized he takes dentistry to a new level. I dont think Id ever experienced that dental work could be such a proactive, conscious process of working toward health goals. When I arrived for my first cleaning, I was surprised to learn that Dr. Handschuh does that himself, as a way of gaining more knowledge about his patients teeth. Every procedure Ive experienced with him has had the quality of custom care and focused ease that made the process relaxed and positive. His guidance in my decisions for my teeth has been so helpful, I feel very fortunate to have found him. Thank you, Dr. Handschuh!

I have visited numerous dentists ever since I was a child due to many extensive dental issues. Needless to say my anxiety over dental appointments was at an all time high. All of that changed once I started going to the Dental Design Center. Dr. Ira Handschuh and his staff are professional and courteous to everyone that steps in their doors. They provide as much time as you need to discuss your dental issues and all of the options available to you. I felt comfortable working with him and explaining my goals and concerns with treatments. Most importantly, Dr. Handschuh really listened to my concerns and took them into consideration. I am so thrilled with the way my treatment turned out. I could not be happier with my smile! I highly recommend anyone looking for an amazing dentist to head over to the Dental Design Center. I cannot imagine going anywhere else.

I contemplated porcelain veneers for several years now. It wasn’t until I met Dr. Ira Handschuh that I knew I found the right dentist and that porcelain veneers were the right option for me. From the minute I walked into the office, I was greeted by his professional and friendly staff. Dr. Handschuh knew how nervous I was and that I had many questions, I never once felt rushed, Dr. Handschuh spent a lot of time talking to me and answering all my questions. I left his office feeling comfortable, very relaxed and excited to start the process. Dr. Handschuh not only made sure I was comfortable after the procedure but personally called me the day after to make sure I was feeling ok; he’s a dedicated doctor who truly cares for his patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Handschuh to anyone contemplating dental cosmetics.

It took me a while before I wrote this review (busy traveling) but Ive been to many dentists throughout my life for multitude of reasons in regards to my teeth and I can honestly say that Dr. Handschuh is by far the best overall dentist Ive seen. The knowledge and professionalism of Dr. Handschuh and staff was remarkable. The main reason why I decided to stay with Dr. Handschuh before deciding on a cosmetic fix up, were the options that were provided to me. He was genuinely concerned about what I thought. I met with a few other professionals before deciding and the options werent there, I didnt feel comfortable, as if I was just one of many. If youre looking for a professional who genuinely cares about their clients needs, I promise you wont be disappointed. Will be going back as well as recommending family/friends.

Dr. Handschuh has been our family dentist for over 20 years. Dr. Handschuh and his team have provided outstanding service all those years. Just as important, all of this is done with a great attitude. His practice is not only extremely prompt and courteous, which is very hard to find nowadays in a doctors office, but they always do seem to take that extra step. Over the years, when any of my family members had procedures, Dr. Handschuh always followed up to see how we were doing and if we had any other questions or concerns. With our family of 7, there always seems to be emergencies going on during the year! Anytime we needed Dr. Handschuh, no matter the day or time, he has been there for us. This is why we continue to utilize his services, and are always recommending him to our family and friends.

I have been seeing Dr.Handschuh for several years now and I continue to have a great overall experience every time I go. One thing that stands out to me is how thorough Dr.Handschuh is with his work and his cleanings. There is constant communication between us including X-Rays and any future problems that he foresees. From my experience, he is extremely reliable and only has the best interest of his patients. On top of Dr.Handschuh, I appreciate The Dental Design Center in Westchester having a very welcoming staff along with top of the line equipment. The Dental Design Center is always accomadting, whether it is with appointment changes or availability in their schedule. I would highly recommend Dr.Handschuh and The Dental Design Center to anyone looking for reliable and top of the line care.

I started to visit Dr. Handschuh based on my wifes recommendation. She is someone who did not like to visit dentists because of her fear of pain. However, after several visits, she was raving to me about his professionalism and ability to provide care with very little pain. She encouraged me to switch from my current dentist. After my first visit, I understood why she was so pleased. He provides honest straight forward advice regarding dental care. No need to worry about whether or not the recommended procedure is really necessary. He has your best interests in mind. The office is well run, clean and reflects the professional manner in which care is delivered. He is someone I would recommend to my family and friends if they were looking for a new dentist.
