Doctors Castañeda and Flores are the best! Theyve provided excellent in-home care for our 13 year old Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix Pollux. Back in November 2012, we made an appointment for an exam with DTLAVets because he had been drinking excessive amounts of water and needing to urinate with unusual frequency. Pollux is a very cautious dog, who tends to be very wary of new people and unfamiliar places (especially Vets offices); so having vets who could come to our home and take time to get comfortable with them was ideal. They spent some time (and a lot of treats) getting to know him and then gave him a very thorough exam. After some tests and discussion, they diagnosed Pollux with Cushings Disease resulting from an adrenal tumor, which we had apparently caught very early before his symptoms had progressed significantly. The DTLAVets were extremely informative and thorough, they recommended us to great specialists, and were patient with us in discussing treatment options and prognoses. In the end, we decided to have the tumor surgically removed, and they referred us to an amazing surgeon. Pollux is now completely cured, largely thanks to Doctor Castañeda and Doctor Flores. They are fantastic vets: thorough, knowledgeable, friendly and willing to go the extra mile for your pet! I cant recommend them highly enough. The fact that they will soon be opening a state of the art veterinary hospital right in the middle of downtown is just icing on the cake.

Drs. Castaneda and Flores really are a great team. My two year old Miles has been having trouble with his tummy and so I called DTLA vets to see if we couldnt solve the problem. The Doctors showed up at my house and talked through Miles history with me, and made a very careful preliminary diagnosis. They provided their reasoning to me, and we discussed treatment options. Ultimately, we came up with a treatment plan that made sense. Afterwards, they followed up with me and provided their test results and thoughtful analysis. The cost is very reasonable given that you are getting TWO doctors to come give you their opinions. Moreover, they were very up-front about the cost of treatments. Overall, I was very pleased with the service they provided, and will continue to use them as my primary vet for the foreseeable future.

These women are veternarian whisperers! and they have compassion and they know what they are doing! I called them with an emergency because my one cat was not eating or drinking. They had an opening that day and came (Im not sure if they are doing house calls anymore). They were gentle and caring. They immediately put him on an IV, took some blood and some other tests. That all might sound a little scary, but I am realizing that if they had not put him on an IV, he probably would not have made it through the day. They even told me to call them in the evening to let them know how he was doing. But wait ... it gets better! They called me that evening and my little guy was doing so much better. Im excited that they have found a spot to call home in downtown LA and I trust that they will do well. They are awesome!

Regardless of where you live - I highly recommend the experts at DTLA Vets. We have been taking our Maltese (Talulah) to see these compassionate and caring experts before their doors were even open. Dr. Castaneda, Flores and even the newest Dr. Hiu have impressed me with their commitment and dedication to the animals and their keepers. We recently had a health scare - which turned out to be nothing - but each one of them made themselves available, called after hours, and gave personal and professional insight that helped to guide us in the right direction. You MUST find the best care givers to treat those you love - and these are the BEST. They are personally and professionally people that we feel lucky to have on our team - DTLA Vets is just one more reason its great to live downtown LA.

I recently adopted a 5 year old Basset Hound- lets just say hes crushing hard on Dr. Castaneda. Weve loved her since the first home visit, where she got on Bogarts level and immediately earned his trust. Since then Ive met Dr. Flores as well, and cant say enough about their professionalism and compassion for my little dude. And have I mentioned how great Lisa is, too? They take the time to respond to all of my questions, may they come from a voicemail or email, which is a relief when youre a first time dog owner worry wart like myself. So if youre looking for a wonderful vet that will tell you why they do what they do, look no further. Bonus points for the candy in pill cases for the anxious humans. Cant wait for them to open their full-time clinic on Spring St.

Drs. Castañeda and Flores are amazing! I have a cat whos terrified of everything and weve had bad experiences with vets in the past who were rushed and abrupt and moved too quickly. However, both doctors have an amazing bedside manner and you can tell that they love what they do. Ive spent years looking for vets that I (and my cat - now cats) clicked well with. The search is definitely over. When my older cat started losing weight, we ran blood and urine tests. The draws themselves went so smoothly. Afterward, not only did Dr. Castañeda email the results the next day, she also took the time to call me (in the evening when I actually wasnt at work!) to go over the results and what they meant. Im thrilled to find such skilled veterinarians so close to home.

I had been looking for a vet to take my newly adopted dog to and I was lucky to have found DTLAvets. First off, the staff is very friendly, they explain everything to you in detail, and you can tell they really care for your pets. Dr. Flores is the vet who has been taking care of my dog, and she is great. She checked him over, made suggestions on a course of action and I never felt like I was being up-sold on anything that wasnt necessary. She is funny and my dog really likes her, so thats a plus. If you live in Downtown Los Angeles, this place is a no-brainer to go to. Heck, even if you dont live in DTLA I would recommend the drive to see them. The office is beautiful and very minimalist, something that I like.

WARNING YOU CANNOT SEE A VET IN AN EMERGENCY I have been bringing my senior lab here since DTLA vets opened - vaccines, checkups, I even buy flea treatment here. Its more expensive than my previous vet but I want to support local business. When my dog was experiencing symptoms I called and was ASTOUNDED to be very nicely told that I need an appointment a month in advance, and although I was certainly welcome to come and wait it would be at least four hours, and even IF someone saw me they would just refer me to a clinic. I guess I should have taken my business to a clinic the whole time. What a disappointment.

Excellent +++. Their approach to animal health (holistic with a "nod" to modern medicine) is exactly how I have lived my life for many years. Because it was a house call they were able to see how the cats live on a day to day basis (in door living, no contact with other animals, etc) so they have a detailed overview of what is best care for the cats. The examination was very detailed and later that day I received a re-cap email of the visit. The are very caring, explain clearly and simply what needs to happen and last but not lease throughly professional. I highly recommend DTLAvets.
