Wonderful, compassionate, and competent! When I put down my beloved cat, Scully, and vets and staff at The Animal Doctors were amazing. Dr. Jones and Dayna took wonderful care of Scully as she declined during her last three months, offering options for treatment and ways to keep her comfortable. They somehow found a way to take blood and urine samples (prior vets and techs had even refused to treat her because of her difficult temperament during procedures!). When I realized it was time to let go, they got me in immediately and provided a quiet and peaceful room for the procedure. The back office staff even entertained my 2yo while Dr. Jones performed the euthanasia. The procedure was quick and appeared painless for Scully, for which we are so grateful. We were offered as much time as we needed with Scully after she passed and were offered hugs and comfort as well. One week after saying goodbye, the office sent a sympathy card (signed by everyone) and paw prints of Scully. Finally, when I picked up Scullys remains, I was again shown incredible compassion by Holly, who took time to console me and provided another hug. We are so thankful for The Animal Doctors. They treated us like family!

My cat has kidney problems and I need to give him subcutaneous fluid. I was going to be out-of-town and needed someone to do that for me. I found Dana at the Animal Doctors. She is without a doubt one of the nicest, most pleasant human beings I have met in my life and we immediately switched vets. I have had my cat checked by both of the vets there and they both seemed enormously competent. Besides caring for my cat they told me ways I could save on vet bills and have never tried to take advantage of me. Like Dana, they also exude a love for the animals that is unmistakable. I have come to find that everyone in the office is like that. It may be more common than I know but when I call they need to know my cats name and have a more difficult time finding the information using mine. It may be a common practice but it really does make me feel like it is about my cat and not about my money. I am extremely glad I found them.

I brought my first doggie to The Animal Doctors in 1994, I believe, when they were still in Menlo Park. Dr. Lagerwerff is fabulous (as is his staff) and Spike was always happy to go there. When Spikey was about 4 yrs old, he was diagnosed with a disease that increased the visits/calls/questions to Dr. Lagerwerff, who could not have been more accommodating, knowledgeable, diligent and empathetic with both Spikey and myself. I honestly dont know what I would have done without his tireless care and guidance. All things considered, Spike had a pretty long life and when he began to fail, Dr. L. helped me make the decision when to put him down. That was an awful day, but he and his staff were so there for me. Not long after that I adopted a sweet pomeranian and Dr. Lagerwerff was as adorable with him as hed been with Spike. I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Lagerwerff.

This is the fourth vet clinic I have visited in the Palo Alto / Los Altos area. My cat gets very nervous when going to the vet, so it is important that the clinic not be too noisy or bright, or smell strongly of chemicals. Dr. Lagerwerffs clinic is very clean and organized yet not too bright, and smells completely fresh. The front desk people are especially nice and Dr. Lagerwerff is gentle, kind, and knowledgeable. Of all the other vets Ive seen in the area, he treated my cat most compassionately. I felt completely at ease in his presence, and my questions were answered very clearly. This is the clinic Ive been looking for since I moved here!

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Lagerwerff, and more recently Dr. Jones, for decades. They are wonderful vets who give good practical advice for health care in good times and bad. They gave me well directed advice and referral to a specialist when one of my dogs was diagnosed with lymphoma and, after a nice remission, they gently told me when it was time to let her go. In another instance Dr. Lagerwerff repaired our dogs ACL which gave her a new lease on life. I highly recommend these vets and their staff as a community clinic to whom you can happily entrust your beloved animals.

we have taken our dogs and cats here for a number of years, including annual check ups, serious injuries and illnesses and all in between. The staff is caring, friendly and helpful. Dr Lagerwerff is knowlegeable and always gives balanced and informed advice. He has not hesitated or refer us to a specialist if needed and has always listened carefully to our concerns. He clealy loves animals and communicates well to both us and our pets. Recommended unconditionally

Unfortunately, our first experience with Dr. Jones, Holly and the rest of the superb staff at The Animal Doctor was to end the suffering of my girlfriends terminally ill dog. Everyone was extremely professional, courteous and compassionate. I will not hesitate to take a pet to The Animal Doctor for any sort of care in the future, seeing the level of care we received on our first experience.

Doc Jones and his team at The Animal Doctors are terrific. At first, I was a little hesitant to bring a working dog to a suburban veterinary clinic, but the whole staff is great with animals and their knowledge is excellent--even when it comes to some of the more esoteric aspects of managing the health of a dog that is in the field regularly and travels around the country.

I have a "frequent flier" pet who always has something different going on, rashes, ear drainage, ect and I have always found the office and Dr Lagerwerff (Dr L) to be spot on with his treatments. No-- just give an antibiotic, but talks about diet and treatments that fix the problem. I am very happy with these folks

I have taken my cats to Dr. Lagerwerff since 1980 and would strongly recommend The Animal Doctors. Excellent care, great staff, and thoroughness in diagnosis and treatment. When Ive gone to ER at other facilities, results have always been costly and inaccurate. The best!

Dr. Jones is a vet as you wish a vet to be: totally compassionate, knowledgeable (he was able to detect rare cat virus), and with the right treatment plan in mind. Prices were reasonable compared to other vets in the area. Highly recommended!
