This animal hospital used to be a 5-star facility, but after changing ownership at least 5 times over the past several years, the quality has gone down the tubes. I have taken all of my pets (dogs and cats) here for over 30 years and recently with the last ownership change and during very stressful situations with two of my dogs, there were two situations where the office staff and I had a disagreement. The last one happened when I took my dog who was being treated for seizures there on a Thursday, was given liquid valium to take home and went back without an appointment on Monday morning because I found some spots on Tundras back I wanted to have checked because i thought maybe she had been bitten by a spider or something (her face was swollen too). I was told that they were pretty busy and Id have to wait. I had no problem waiting because I knew I didnt have an appointment. After one hour of sitting in the waiting room, the receptionist came to me and said that Id have to come back for an appointment at 1:30 p.m. I told her that I didnt have a problem waiting, and that I couldnt leave and come back because I had to go to work, which was an hour away from their location. She insisted that I had to come back because they were too busy to see Tundra. Note that there were only two other persons who had come into the office while I was sitting in the waiting room. I told her I couldnt come back and proceeded to leave the office, not very happy at the treatment I received after going to that office for over 30 years. I left and got halfway home and then called them, quite upset that they sent me away with my dog who was actually under their care at that time for the seizures. I was told that they didnt say I had to leave and started putting words in my mouth that I never said. I decided to drive back and when I got to the office, there wasnt anyone in the waiting room, at which time I brought that to their attention. Two of the office staff jumped down my throat and when I tried to defend myself, I was told by Jessica that I had to leave and that they were refusing to see Tundra. Every time I tried to explain my side of the story, I was told I was being argumentative and I had to leave. Finally, they decided to let Tundra see the doctor. The visit went well, and Tundra was still under doctors care, and an appointment was scheduled for that Saturday for testing. On Wednesday, I received a call from the office manager stating that the appointment had to be cancelled and that they sent me a certified letter in the mail, but she wouldnt tell me what the letter was about. After several phone calls, I finally had them email me a copy of the letter, which stated they felt it was better if I took my pet elsewhere for treatment. I had them send me all of the records and spoke to the owner/doctor, who said he felt terrible that it had come to this, before he even heard my side of the story... So, basically, they have left me with a dog under their care for the seizures without a doctor. It is 3:59 a.m. on a Sunday morning, my dog is having gran-mal seizures, and I have to try to find a new doctor to pick up where they left off. Very unethical doctors who dont care about their patients!!! Staff needs training in dealing with customers in stressful situations. No compassion!!! The staff is "always right", the customer is "always wrong" mentality!!! When you take your pet for a visit, they are so worried about the money, more than half of the time you are there, they are trying to up-sell you before they even check the pet. It is more about the money than it is about the pet. I guess that is what happens when you purchase two animal hospitals around the same time!!! Up-sell, Up-sell, Up-sell!!! And it doesnt matter how long you have been going to the place, the staff is allowed to abuse you!!! Too bad!!! The only satisfaction here is "social media" - it can make a business or break a business!

I had been looking for a new vet since I wasnt happy with my old one and had been asking around for recommendations. A number of different people from completely different circles (friends, dog park, pet store etc.) all recommended Rolling Hills Animal Hospital in Rancho Palos Verdes. I went there initially because I have a really hard time washing my dogs ears and she got an ear infection. I saw Dr. La Paire and she used a really cool thing that I had never seen a vet use before. Its a waxy substance that she put in the ear that lasts for two weeks to treat the ear infeciton. The whole time I didnt have to clean the ears or put medication in the ears. Ive been to a number of different vets before because this is a recurring problem with my dog and Ive never seen anything like this and definitely nothing this easy. I kinda couldnt believe it when I went back for the re-check and everything was perfect! The doctor was great. I felt really comfortable with her treating my dog. She seemed really knowledgeable and she was very caring. She really took the time to listen which I feel is so rare these days. The receptionists are really nice and everything seemed to run so efficiently. This is just a gem of a vet hospital.

I truly love the staff and doctors here at Rolling Hills Animal hospital. I dont mind traveling 18.5 miles to their facility for my 3 cats. Mr. Dez, Rolie Polie Olie and Bear love coming here. I used to take Mr. Dez to another facilty and he hated going their, he would become extremly aggressive and would crawl fiercly at the staff. Once we brought him here he is more calmer. Clean facilty, GREAT staff always friendly. Price is reasonable to and they will work with you. Whenever I call I know I will be talking to a kind friendly person (Anthony) he is the best! Five stars for him ***** very professional I can always here a smile in his voice. The technicans are kind and caring with my pets. Web portal is great, always received updated appointments information and recommendations for any particular treatment needed. I highly recommend anyone who loves their pets to bring them to Rolling Hills Animal hospital.

Brought my cat in for an annual check up and a rabies booster. Vet noticed a cavity on one of my cats incisors. She said she had to pull the tooth and quoted me $300 on top of the $50 check-up fee. I agreed to the tooth removal and left my cat there for the day. When I came back the next day, the total bill was over $1000. The staff was incredibly rude when I asked to have the bill itemized. I would never go back there, they lie about the bills and there is nothing the customer can do. I checked other vets in the area, and they quoted me ~$300 for the whole procedure including meds and labor. Dont go to this Vet. I would give them a lower score if I could. Zero stars. Looking for a new vet.

The Doctors at Rolling Hills keep my 3 cats healthy. The entire staff is always friendly and caring. In the last month I had 1 cat neutered & another had a dental cleaning with extractions. In both cases they provided estimates up front and let me select the services I wanted to pay for. During the dental cleaning they found an additional tooth that needed to be taken care of and Dr. LaPere called and confirmed the extra charges before proceeding. In both cases the Dr who did the procedure called to follow up the next day and ensure everything was fine. Like another reviewer mentioned my Dr doesnt display this level of service. I love this practice and will continue to take my cats here.
