My Dear Mother is here in long term memory care. So far, things seem well under control with cleanliness, staff-patient coverage, and care. The luxury hotel description is a bit overrated. The rooms are double occupancy. Like what you might find in an average hospital or hotel room environment without all the medical equipment. Neutral opinion for now. Time will tell... I am optimistic an hopeful she will adjust well to the forced change over time . Because I call to check on her often, the staff has been caring, accommodating and helpful to give updates and needs for clothing or other items Avalon has a large activity area and courtyard. Rooms have window views for bird feeders and gazing. Most patients seem content to congregate together in activities room for companionship.

Id give this zero stars if possible. My aunt is there for short term physical rehab. On the first day it took over 2 hours just to get her a glass of water. Then they forgot her dinner. How do you forget something like that? Shes supposed to be there to recuperate and gain strength back after her illness. No one can answer even the most basic of questions, no doctor will even see her for another couple of days. The only person that really spoke to her was the one who asked what her burial preferences were. I understand that may be common practice, but you could at least explain that to her instead of leaving her feeling like she was there to die. Horrible care. Horrible manners. Horrible management and oversight. Horrible training.

My father recently stayed at Avalon in Sonora for a couple weeks. The care he received was adequate, I suppose, but his credit cards were stolen from his wallet while there and over $900 in local charges were made before we found out. Not a very comforting situation. Try and go somewhere else....

My mom is a new resident at this home and the staff have been really friendly and caring. I would highly recommend this facility.
