I write this review for Gulf Coast Humane Society located off of Swamp Cabbage Ct in Fort Myers, FL. If I could give you less than one-star, I would. On Friday, May 20th, 2016, I lost my bull terrier (Buttercup) of 13 years. This veterinarian practice should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. You have this third world vet doctor named Dr. Yazmin who to me, shouldnt be touching animals given her poor judgement and poor command of the English language. I pissed away $1,000 and better paying for medications, fees, x-rays, and office visits all in vain. I bring Buttercup in for elevated breathing which is abnormal and Dr. Yazmin is there focusing on Buttercups ears and wouldnt prescribe anything for breathing until I kept badgering her to do so. Buttercup was drinking water exorbitantly and shedding pounds as the days went on with her breathing rapid as can be. X-rays revealed water in the lungs to the point where the heart was not visible. Sounds like kidney failure to me, right? Not to Gulf Coast Humane Society. It got to the point where I had to cry my eyes out, carrying Buttercup to her end to be put down because she lacked the strength to get up anymore. I want to thank Gulf Coast Humane Society for making my beloved Buttercup suffer when she should have been put down a week earlier. No owner should have had to endure what I have gone through emotionally and financially. You bled me until the very end, even after I waited over an hour in an examination room to have Buttercups suffering just end. Your office staff lack empathy and your condolences mean absolute jack to me. I hope people read this and think twice before going to Gulf Coast Humane Society. Dr. Yazmin does not know veterinary medicine it seems and wasted precious time with bad calls. Go back to whatever third world school you graduated from and treat cattle---not peoples best friends.

This one star review is for a woman named Yazmin who claims being a vet but shouldn’t deal with pets…or animals AT ALL!! I brought my 2 years-old English Bulldog for her annual follow-up and vaccinations update to Gulf Coast Humane Society located off of Swamp Cabbage Ct in Fort Myers. She used to be a very healthy girl until that Sunday (the day after her follow-up) when her diarrhea with blood started. This woman prescribed antibiotics to treat a little wound that my puppy had under her arm but it seemed like the medication was that strong that got rid of the whole small intestine bacterial flora. After a three-days nightmare and after losing four pounds of body mass, we decided to bring our baby back to this place as emergency walk-in. After waiting almost 4 hours while watching Ms. Yazmin taking very long personal calls like if she were at her living room, she finally decided to check our baby…again. Geee… she threw that many darts to the wall trying to hit the right diagnose that we found her “guessing” so unprofessional and lacking of ethics…she suddenly came with a brilliant diagnose: STRESS TO THE COLON DUE TO A TRIP IN THE CAR!! That was, according to her, the cause of diarrhea with blood and vomiting. We then realized we were wasting our time and a lot of money with such a fake vet that we drove back home just to treat our baby with Peptobismol, probiotics, Pedialyte and grilled chicken with integral rice. We do not recommend this fake vet, nor the place. BE AWARE OF FAKE DOCS! They wont assume any responsability even if the diagnose wasnt sound at all and ended up in a malpractice that killed your beloved friend. They (she) are (is) after your money, not your pet.

Set an appointment last week, so I show up for on time and they say it is not in the system. The receptionist proceeds to tell the vet tech, that "She thought she set up an appointment" I interrupt to tell her the fault is on their end and that I did have an appointment, the vet tech puts a hand up in my face and continues to talk to the receptionist. This point I am peeved and tell them I am not going to be rudely ignored and have a hand put in my face so I walk out and figured I would go somewhere else much more professional, etc. The vet tech follows me outside (hand still up), not even kidding, to tell me she was going to try and reschedule (2 weeks from now) but if I want to be angry and leave go ahead, tons of attitude. I didnt even dignify her with a response turned and left. GCHS might be more cost effective, but I frankly will rather go pay the extra $50 for shots to be treated civilly and professionally.

After 2 years of my dog losing hair and being very lethargic, I switched to Gulf Coast Humane Society for their vet services and I am BEYOND pleased! They looked at him and diagnosed him right away with a thyroid issue. Of course they did tests too and sure enough, they were correct. The vet I used to go to said he had a staph infection and I paid over $400/visit for no change. Here at Gulf Coast, I paid under $200 and that included medication for his thyroid and an antibiotic, heart worm and flea meds, and lab fees. Sure enough, after 1 month on the medicine, my dog started growing his hair back and started acting like his normal self! Its been 2 YEARS! Each time I go, I have sees a different vet but they all are so informative and well educated and I havent had any issues. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Please be aware that Gulf Coast Humane Society does not care about your pet, all they care about is money. The care they give the animals there is terrible. My Shiba Inu, Sheila, had an annual exam there and the vet that saw her did not even touch her all he did was ask some questions to get an idea of her general health and asked us what kind of food she ate yet we got charged for an exam. Wow, really? I could have called my next door neighbor to come over and look at her at least I could have saved on the exam fee. On my last visit there I had already had a heart worm and other vaccines done at a mobile vet. I explained that to the tech in the room and they charged me for them again. Stay away from there unless you went to be bled dry for money and receive below average care for your beloved pet.

The vet himself was extremely rude and didnt listen to my problem, kept calling my male cat a female even though the problem pertained specifically to his male anatomy. I was charged for a urine analysis and told I had to bring the sample back within 8 hours of getting it. I did this, then was told Id have the results back by lunch time. I did not receive a call for 4 days. I asked when the analysis was done and they said just now. So my urine sample sat around for several days before they got to it, rendering it inaccurate. I feel as though this place is very unprofessional. The staff is also passive aggressive about you coming in as a walk in. Im overall not pleased with the care my pet received and will not return.

That old timer vet needs to go. Injured 2 of my dogs when I took them in for rabbi shots and tags, nothing else. 1st dog he gave shot inproperly causing a tumor on his thigh, 2nd dog 2 years later he jams shot on dogs back next to spine causing dog to yelp, dog is 11 years old and has never yelped getting its shot. He also took it on his own to examen the dog inwhich he injured the dogs urinary trac causing inability of the dog to hold his urin, 5 months later and cleaning up accidents in the house 3 to 5 times a night/day weve finally got 2 weeks behind us with no accidents in house. That old vet needs to retire or be fired. I am sure my dogs are not the only ones he has injured. Will never take my dogs there again.
