Edit: I have been contacted by the doctor for this facility. He maintained that he was not legally allowed to give me the inter-pupillary distance. He did, however, offer to work it out the cost difference when one does not purchase glasses and was generous in his offer of remedying the situation. I had appointments for my three children, while I worked my mother brought them in. 3.5+ hours later they finally returned home with prescriptions in hand. I knew I was going to be buying my glasses online because my children keep breaking them and I cant afford to pay the $100-$200 / pair I was paying at Eye Care Center of Ocala. That aside, I wanted the pupillary distance for Virtual Reality, as the lens adjustment is important on the headset. Not only did the Optometrist refuse to give the pupillary distance, she made up some story about being legally liable if she provides it. On top of it all, the whole exam cost $89 per child because I only get the "discount" if I buy glasses from them. Instead theyre charging the exam to my medical insurance and the medical insurance doesnt cover Refraction. Ive been bringing my children to this place for the last 3-4 years, and I will not be returning.

Great experience! I had the most thorough eye exam here! The doctor was great. I didnt think I could wear contacts anymore and they fit in a new contact lens that worked perfect! I am very happy. I decided to come here based on good reviews when searching the internet. I work in health care and even though I did not wait long we all know what is like having to wait for a doctor. I rather wait and get a good exam then be rushed. This is not a drive through getting a burger. Working in health care its good if you have insurance to contact your insurance ahead of time to make sure the doctor takes it. You cant blame others for not doing your homework.

Great experience all the way from the front desk to checkout. The tech, Laura, was very friendly as she conducted the tests she needed to do before I saw Dr. Shaw. Dr. Shaw was very professional and thorough as he explained all of the different options and benefits I had between choosing glasses or contacts. Felicia was funny as she taught me how to put int the contacts without poking my eye out. I have never had such a comprehensive eye exam, and the Doctors do a great job keeping a balance in the office of friendly yet professional. Im afraid Eye Care Center is stuck with me for life!

Ive been seeing Dr. Shaw since he was at Lenscrafters. Always disappointed with their wait times. If I was waiting out in the front area, it was waiting a long time in a dark, empty exam room. He tried to change my contact brand and type, despite being told I was happy with my current pair. They are not good with working with contacts refills from online vendors (who are much cheaper) - takes days to get prescriptions verified, if they will verify it at all. Just always a frustrating experience, and will be taking my business elsewhere.

We had a second excellent experience at Eye Care Center of Ocala today. On our 6th month checkup visit we again had great care from Dr. Nadia Strucko and her staff. In particular, Jessica provided excellent help and encouragement with a test that had caused some confusion at the last session. With her explanation, the test was completed more easily and with greater success and speed. We are both also very pleased with the new glasses we purchased at our last visit. Had a 3pm Saturday appointment booked for myself, wife and daughter. 3:40, we still hadnt been seen by anyone and no apologies. Finally my daughter is called in. The receptionist tells me that they dont work with our insurance company. My wife tells me that she told the person who booked the appointment who our carrier was. A total waste of time. Paying a monthly premium for vision care, I wasnt about to pay out of pocket for their exams. VERY poor customer service, very disappointing.

The Dr, & Staff was very polite, and helpful! They were all kind and very courteous to me. With me having Diabeties and Hydrocephalus, They took their time, and they did the necessary testing to make sure I did not have any blood or water pressure pushing behind my eyes! Very professional, caring and friendly, I love coming here. I called dr Shaw about a black veil in my vision field. He told me to come in immediately and told me I had a detached retina and could have went blind any day. Eye care center has gone above and beyond to help me with my vision problems.
