I have been taking my 3 cats to Mark for years for minor ailments like fleas, allergies & ID chips. This week... On Monday My tabby, OC, had developed swelling on his left cheek. Most likely from a fight. Though my neighbor saw OC investigating a black snake. On Tuesday The swelling had grown. On Wednesday OC was in pain and was breathing heavy. On Thursday (7-27-17 @ 9:15am) I took OC to Mark Salzburg. OC had a bad infection in his cheek and 107 degree temperature. I asked if the fever was bad. Mark said it was very bad. Mark said he could treat the infection with antibiotics. Also that I should have OC neutered to prevent more fighting. I asked if we should do a surgery with the infection and high temperature. One of his staffers said," it was a quick snip and takes 5 minutes. Mark assured me that this would be routine and I would pick up OC by the end of the day. About noon, I got a call from Mark. His team had done a feline aids test. OC was positive. Mark said my options were - Treating OC - Killing OC or - Giving OC to a home for cats with feline aids. I asked what treating him would cost me. Mark didnt know and said he would have his office staff call me, Immediately. Twenty minutes later I called and a staffer gave me a price of $320 to $355. I said, "for 350 bucks... help my friend". About an hour later Mark called and stated that, "OC had died under anesthesia" Mark gave me several excuses why... 1.) Compromised immune system from Feline aids 2.) More advanced abcess that he tought 3.) Swelling effected OCs breathing more than he thought What happened was - We crossed over the limit of Marks Education, Knowledge and Experience. My friend paid for that limit with his life. or - He euthanize OC without my consent. I feeI that this is my fault. I trusted Marks recommendation. I should have known not to put an animal under anesthesia with an advanced infection. I will live with that decision for the rest of my life. I miss my friend. Please God... take care of my OC.

Im very happy with Dr. Salzburg and his great crew of assistants. He has treated two of my dogs and Ive found Dr. Salzburg to be very upfront when asking questions about my dogs health. He doesnt rush you off and takes time with you if you need more explanation. He nor his staff ever pushed "extras" on me and has even told me my dog is receiving enough vitamins in her food, therefore, I dont need to purchase the vitamins he sells at the office. My girl had Heartworms when I adopted her and because of the trust I place in him, I chose him to do her treatment. During her exam, he told me to check other clinics for prices if I want to have her treated somewhere less expensive. I find someone who is not out to get your last dime very honorable and to be trusted. You can find a veterinarian who may be less or more expensive but it is of my opinion you wont find a better doctor for your furbabies than Dr. Salzburg!

When I adopted my 2yo Standard Poodle from the Halifax Humane Society included in the adoption was a FREE vet visit. I already knew that he had an upper respiratory condition and a skin infection but wanted another vet to see him and at the same time get established with a vet here in Ormond Beach, Fl. I was very pleased with Dr. Salzburg, his demeanor, his knowledge of his trade and his unhurried manner. I felt that I could ask questions and get additional information on the meds that I was given at the Humane Society that I had taken with me to his office. I feel so much better having found Dr. Salzburgs vet clinic as we spend time on our boat, "Sandy Paws", which we keep docked at the city marina. We are aboard with our 3 Great Danes, 2 Chihuahuas and now our new family member, our Standard Poodle. Finding a really good vet is so important and I feel we have done just that in Dr. Salzburg.

Tha vet at the Salzburg Animal Hospital saved the lives of my four chihuahuas in the summer of 2007. My regular NY vet failed to diagnose one other dog, who was put to sleep hours later at the emergency clinic with kidney failure. That NY vet also refused to listen to a description of the symptoms of the brother dog that had died the month before. We drove to FL, took the four remaining members of the chihuahua family to the Salzburg Animal Hospital, where we got in on short notice. The vet thoroughly explored all the symptoms and history, diagnosed Lyme disease, put everyone on antibiotics, and even the dog that had started to fade recovered. They also made an effort to find the cheapest form of effective antibiotics, which I greatly appreciated with four patients. Now I schedule my vet visits for when I drive down to FL.

Calling, maybe do blood work maybe not leave it to owner? Are you kidding? Old or young animals should always have a physical ABD blood panel before and procedures including dentals! You never go blindly doing surgery, giving anesthesia, to any animal without checking a basic blood panel, physical, and not doing X Rays before, during teeth cleaning, but nope the Dr just goes in an removes all teeth that " look compromised"..And without seeing the roots or anything else to make sure.. OK NOT! How can you people find this to be a good Vet? Just shows how MANY poor quality, poorly qualified Vets there are in this whole area! More bad than good!!!!! Unacceptable

ON SEPTEMBER 4TH 2007 I CALLED THERE AT 9AM FOR AN EMERGENCY APPT AS MY DOG HAD BEEN SICK ALL NIGHT. HAVING TAKEN MY ANIMALS THERE FOR YEARS I EXPECTED THEM TO BE ABLE TO FIT ME IN. I TOLD THEM IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. THEY SAID WE CAN TAKE HER 9/13 IN NINE DAYS! I SAID MY DOG WILL BE DEAD BY THEN. I WAS WRONG MY DOG DIED ON MY PATIO WITH ME WITHIN 2 HOURS OF MY CALL TO SALZBURG. I HAD CALLED TOMOKA PINES & THEY FIT ME IN THAT AFTERNOON BUT IT WAS TOO LATE FOR MY LITTLE GIRL BY THEN. I WAS SHOCKED & NUMB & WOULD NEVER IN MY LIFE RECOMMEND SALZBURG AGAIN!

My orange tabby was dying. Testing did not indicate any cause for diagnosis. I was told to ask around about any poisonous chemicals left about. My cat was so sick and weak I had no hope. Dr. Salzburg kept him at the clinic and pulled him through. I felt it was miraculous and was so happy to take my furry, kid home again.

They have a really great group of people that work there. I would recommend going there, especially if you are new to caring for animals. They even call me the day after my dog visits there to check up and make sure he is okay no matter how big or small his problem was.

Im sure you all will be glad to hear that when you choose to not accept new patients in an emergency situation, pet owners WILL take their business elsewhere.
