Their staff is good even though they are very confusing at the time to explain what medications are better for my dog. They WILL NOT authorize any prescriptions for any online Pharmacy. They say that online pharmacies do not carry the same lab warranty their meds have... The real deal is that if you are going to use an online service for meds make sure their products are U.S. FDA/EPA approved and then you are good to go. I was told during my dogs exam that I did not need a prescription for buying Comfortis(medication needed only for preventing flees in my dogs case). The reality was that I did not need a prescription if I buy it from and only from Animal Clinic. So they basically refused to authorize the online prescription when 1800petmeds contacted them. Then they tried to match the online price and even a coupon I had but Animal Clinic will still charge you taxes, so at the very end the only solution available was for me to buy the prescription for 5$, prescription that was told to me I did not need during the consultation. I offered them to waive the fee in order to keep my business but unfortunately the 5$ were more important than a customer for the owner of Animal Clinic. Bottom line is if you do not mind overpay for their services and overpay for medications you are going to be in good hands!

We have been with St. Augustine Animal Clinic for nearly 7 years and the service has always been the best for our pets. Dr. Jack and his staff truly care for any and all animals, and if they cant treat, they know who can. From acupuncture to minor surgery, dental service to illness prevention, we have faced some adversity over the years with 3 dogs, but things may not be so happy at home if Dr. Jack and company hadnt assisted our pets needs when the time was necessary. Sure, vet visits do cost money, but so does gassing the car up, or living in America. The fact is with such tough economical times a vast amont of people have stopped giving vet care to their pets, and/or simply letting them go because they cant afford to feed them or give shelter. Veternarians are directly affected by this change of heart people are having towards their animals. St. Augustine Animal Clinic, like other vets, is a business, and they all have to adjust/ raise some rates to keep their doors open and have the proper staff to treat our loved ones. For every 2 or 3 people who will bash a company for providing a service, there are 200-300 people who will praise the service efforts. We consider St. Augustine Animal Clinic a part of our family, and they will do the very best for your pets health & well-being!

I selected St. Augustine Animal Clinic after touring many of the clinics that St. Augustine had when I first moved there in 1995. Over the years I have learned to appreciate what the staff and doctors did for my pets and my family.... They have seen us through spays and neuters when our pets were young ..... we learned about ear infections that due to our climate and our retrievers down ears were very difficult to clear up. We learned we had to be diligent in our efforts and had to remain so for the rest of their lives so the infections would not flare up again. They saw us through a bladder stone surgery of our golden girl and when the time came to make the hardest decision to euthanize one of our pets we were given time and everything was explained to us. They treated our girl as though she was their own beloved pet. I know she was in good hands in the end. If you want a great hometown vet that will treat you with respect and give help you through all the options in treating your pet through all stages of their lives and through all the the trouble they may get themselves into.... you have found the right place. Thanks ....to all the staff and animals at the St. Augustine Animal Clinic

St Augustine Animal Clinic has been my saving grace without Dr Jack Schmidt my Mother would have never been able to achieve bringing me and my sister a beautiful loving dog. I am so happy that my Mother chose this place 20 years ago and has continued to be a loyal customer of Dr Jacks. My Mother picked up a rescue dog this morning that would have been sent to a pound and last minute called Dr Jack Schmidt and made arrangements for him to give her all her shots and testing needed so we dont bring her home sickly around my other animals. Dr Jack has always taken care of my animals like they were his own and he has a passion for what he does. Thank you to the ENTIRE staff at St Augustine Animal Clinic. We appreciate your prompt response, great service, loving and caring attitude and ALWAYS doing whats right for the animals. WE LOVE YOU ST AUGUSTINE ANIMAL CLINIC... AND WOULD NEVER GO ANY WHERE ELSE....... Brysen Bryant

Dr. Jack is very compasionate when it comes to the care of animals. He is extemely knowledgable when it comes to veterinary medicine. I have had nothing but positive experiences anytime I have taken our pets to his clinic. The staff is always friendly and great with customer service from the time that I call to make an appointment to the time I leave after the visit. He is a well established Vet in this town and he has been in business for many years. I can see that some have commented on his prices. Although, I dont feel the same way, I would certainly pay a bit more to ensure that my pet was cared for by the best. I am a believer in you get what you pay for.

Dr. Jack and his staff are of the most compassionate people I know, when it comes to dealing with sick and injured animals. Both he and his staff treat every patient that comes into the office like they are their own pets. When it comes to the care of animals they will do everything they can to ensure that every pet is treated the way they would treat their own pets. Even when they know the outcome is not going to be good, they will go above and beyond. I have known Dr. Jack since he first started his practice here, and he and the staff have been like this from day one. BJ Hall

Dr. Jack and his staff have been so kind to our family over the last few months. Highs and lows. Dr. Jack sweetly helped us carry our buddy Marley over to the other side with dignity and care. His staff, particularly Terry was super helpful as well. After a time of grieving, we procured a new puppy, a full breed Old English Sheepdog. At nine weeks the puppy almost died, very sad. Dr. Jack was with us day to day and helped us to have a wonderfully healthy Hudson who is now almost 50 pounds at 5 months old! Kindness and compassion, very much appreciated and highly recommended!

They are VERY expensive and in my experience care more about money than about my dog. We were away on Christmas Holiday when our poor dog developed an infection. This infection is re-occuring and had been treated successfully with an antibiotic prescribed by Dr Jack, but when I called and asked for them to call in a prescription, they refused without another office visit (more money). I again explained that we were out of town and we would schedule an office upon our return and Dr Jack just said NO! I am currently looking for another vet with some compassion.
