Stay away from Dr. Shuayb at all costs. I went to Dr. Shuayb’s office suffering from mild discomfort due to a cracked tooth. To deal with this problem, he put a crown on the cracked tooth. But here’s how that happened: I was told the process would take a couple hours – instead took about 5. Dr. Shuayb was so rough and forceful that he strained my jaw painfully and it took over a week before the muscles loosened up enough for me to open my mouth fully. (When I asked about this, I got the excuse that I have an exceptionally small jaw, something no other dentist has ever told me.) Dr. Shuayb also manhandled me so that by the end, my lip was swollen and bloody as though someone had punched me in the face. Dr. Shuayb also didn’t just drill on the cracked tooth in order to make the crown fit – he also gratuitously drilled on the perfectly fine and health tooth above the cracked one! Instead of making the crown fit with the healthy tooth above it, he damaged my healthy tooth. But finally, the process was done. And you know what? I came to Dr. Shuayb with mild discomfort, but from that day onward I suffered intense, constant pain. I called his office over and over, multiple times over the space of a couple weeks. Every single time I was told “Oh, it’s normal, nothing’s wrong, just take some Advil and it’ll go away soon.” Meanwhile my pain got worse. After two weeks, I had to go back in. You see, I wear a night guard, and when trying to adjust it to fit the new crown, they broke it, so I had to have them make a new one. I came in to pick it up and Dr. Shuayb and his people took a look in my mouth. “Oh, everything is fine, the tooth is great, nothing is wrong!” They made a small adjustment to the crown which was predicted to solve all my problems – the pain would be all gone in a couple days, I was promised. Instead, the pain just kept getting worse. In addition, the nightguard they made for me actually caused my teeth to go out of correct alignment! At this point, I completely lost faith that Dr. Shuayb and his staff are professionally competent. Nor I believe they are honest – besides using the bizarre claim that I have an abnormally tiny jaw to explain why he strained my jaw, Dr. Shuayb’s staff also claimed that I was suffering from serious bone loss in my jaw, and that I would need special treatment from them every four months in order to halt or reverse the process. No dentist before this ever told me such a thing, and I’ve seen multiple dentists since then, and none of them have backed up this strange diagnosis (a diagnosis, I remind you, for which the solution was to come to Dr. Shuayb’s office every four months for special cleanings). Going to Dr. Shuayb was the worst dental experience of my life. I do not believe he and his staff are competent or honest. I strongly urge you look elsewhere for your oral health needs.

Horrible experience.. unprofessional staff from Doctors to staff to manger. They really have no idea how to speak to people politely. Me and my family have been coming here for past 8 months. We were told they could do the best job and take care of my mothers issue and where supper nice at 1st. Today 4-26-17 we went back again to re-fit or re-do modeling for dentures do to them not being comfortable for my mother b/c they are hurting her mouth. But they treated us like less of a human being. They talk back and are totally disrespectful. Im try to explain a persistent issue that she is having and they dont want to hear or deal with us anymore b/c now, they cant do the job right. So they threaten us to stop talking or they will call the authorities and they discharged us from their office. They took 8,000$ from my mother and they kicked us out. I cant believe this really happened and im shocked by the actions they took and the way they handled the situation. Surly I will contact a lawyer and will not allow you to treat us like this..Im a local Guide: Look at my reviews, I never leave bad reviews unless you really deserved it. And you sure do. I will also contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint against you. The above review I left awhile ago and they made me take it down because they made me believe they are going to help my mom so after speaking with them a few couple weeks ago they told us to come any time. Last week my parents drove an hour and a half to Springhill and they tried to make them pay another 2000$. Supposedly we owe them that since January, but they never mentioned that to us before. And last time we saw them was in may. And if that was the case they could have told us before the appointment last week but didnt mention anything to us. Made my poor mother and father sit in the dentist chair for two hours and never greeted them but he sent his cleaning lady to ask for more money. My mother owes you not a penny.

The office in Tampa is nice and the staff is nice. When it comes to wasting your time they are great at that. I am doing my Invisalign treatment with them for the past year and a half. I saw the actual doctor ONCE, and that was for the assessment which he just shone a light in my mouth and said youre good for Invisalign. My first negative experience was when I waited 45 min for my appointment and no one told me that the specialist could not see me and they had to reschedule, they just let me wait, and I missed 2 hours of work. They then told me to come back at 3:30, I rushed back with my client in the car because I could not get off, only to end up waiting another 30 min to be seen, with my client sitting in the car waiting. It happened a second time, only this time I didnt have to work, but the specialist didnt come for another hour. When I finally saw her all she did was handed me the tray I needed for me to put on, no checks or anything. Every appointment I have felt they were a waste of time because they never checked to see if the teeth were moving properly. Third time is today, my appt was at 9 only to find out the specialist wouldnt be there for another hour. Mind you I just lost an hour of work. They are only in Tampa on Wednesdays, so they offer the option to come back that afternoon. I finished with one client and rushed here only to be sitting in the lobby for the past 40 min because the specialist does not have a room available, another hour+ lost again. I cant come the following 2 weeks because of work and they will not give me the last 2 trays because now they have to check to ensure my teeth are moving properly. Im irritated and beyond upset now, thank God Im almost done with the treatment even though I already feel I will need a third refinement

One word ....WOW ! ....I was lucky to have found Shuayb Dental (Bruce B. downs location) ...The staff from the front of the house to the back is all professionals...Dr. Omar was easy to communicate with and very detailed..The office/rooms were very clean and their equipment was modern...I had Angie (I think thats the first name, sorry...her nationality is Dominican) as a Dental Hygienist, she did an amazing cleaning and explained to me the correct way to floss so that I did not continue to damage my gum tissue. I take pride in my dental care and this information was very helpful . She showed me digital pics. of my gums which put a visual to my incorrect routine--this really helped...Angie has been the best Hygienist that I have had since coming to Florida fourteen years ago...She has that "people service" skill that you just cant teach...Thank You again Angie and Shuayb Dental for a great experience , see you in six months :) A.B.
