Thanks. Let me break this down into separate ratings: 1) Doctor Michel (as he is known in the city) used be one of Costco’s rotating Optometrists. He is quite possibly the most competent and generous medical professional in the city. I would know. After I graduated from college, I didn’t have insurance for a brief time and I developed a rare eye condition in which my white blood cells were attaching my contacts. After a Medical doctor told me I was alright, I still was having problems so a friend recommended Doctor Michel to me. He found the problem and then provided me with a $149 sample bottle of eye antibiotic drops and 7 checkups to be sure the medicine was working for the total Costco price of $49. 2) Several years ago, Doctor Michel struck it out on his own and opened this high optical boutique (as the name and location imply). Yes is it a boutique priced eyestore that specializes in unique and exclusive frames and such. If that is your thing, then it’s a 5 as they do the best job with the best products.

Had a very good experience here. The doctor was quite a lot better I thought than doctors I have seen at the big chains. Very informative and seemed genuinely to care about my vision health. She took much longer than typical to make sure my prescription was the best possible for me. It was not just a numbers game for her, get them in and get them out ASAP like I have experienced other places. The staff were also friendly and caring. I also really liked that everyone would stop after a few statements and say "Do you have any questions?" They are technology friendly with the latest equipment, including a new device to replace the dreaded puff tester. Give them a try if you arent happy where you are going now.

Not very organized, and seem to push products they sell. I was completing a trial of two different contact brands and when I called to order the ones I liked best, they had not even recorded what brands I had been trying out. Of course I could only purchase the contacts I preferred through them. When I called with questions regarding my eye glasses prescription, I was given answers that seemed like guesses, and were not very helpful in the end. Update: Amending this review because the doctor has handled these above concerns very professionally.

They do a good job but charge you too much. While I did have insurance their pricing still seemed high for what I got. It is an independent shop and do give good one on one attention but its one of those places where you can tell the doctor is pulling in just a bit too much revenue for what is typical. The frames/glasses were over priced and did not have a good selection. Definitely attempts to be a priced and catered towards the Lincoln Park crowd, overpriced for what you get.

Dr. Joanna Slusky was very helpful and I had probably the most informative/enjoyable eye examination Ive ever had. After looking around the area for a suitable eye doctor, I am glad with my decision to choose Halsted Eye Boutique; their staff are genuinely welcoming and are always looking for ways to make the most out of your visit. Definitely would recommend Halsted Eye Boutique to anyone.

I had a great experience at halsted eye boutique. Joanna the optometrist was wonderful very thorough and really gave a comprehensive visit. Michelle was great she picked out glasses for me I just let her pick them according to what she thought and she picked sunglasses and everyday glasses at my price point and they are the best glasses I have had in 25 yrs!! Great customer service

Even though I provided my insurance ID at the time of booking the appointment, they did not let me know until the appointment that my insurance did not cover my check-up. They told me cancelling at this point would result in a fee of $30, giving me no choice but to proceed with it. The doctor was cold and distant and made me feel uncomfortable. Will not return again

Wonderful experience. Great Staff. Dr. Slusky is a true master of her craft. Id recommend her to anyone seeking eyeware, contacts, and more importantly health information about vision. I was also impressed with the selection of frames and they also had my unique contact prescription on-site which was great. Highly recommend Dr. Slusky.

Basically my first time ever getting an eye exam at the age of 25 (lol) but couldnt have asked for a better experience. The whole staff, from beginning to end, were amazing, welcoming, informative, and overall personable. I would and already have recommended this clinic to friends and family.
