First thing that struck me about Metro Vet is how friendly the staff is when you walk in. Even when theyre busy, theres always at least one person that stops what shes doing to greet you. Second thing that I noticed is how nice it smells! I have walked out of other vets because of distasteful aromas. Yes, I realize that if there is a sick animal certain things do happen, but its important for me to know - especially if this is a place that I choose to board my fur babies - that its being kept clean. I will freely admit that my cat, Snoopy, isnt easy to deal with. She puts up a fuss/fight when anyone but me tries to touch her - particularly since shes lost her sight. But, when Ive had to go out of town on business, Ive been comforted to know that the staff at Metro Vet knows by now how to take good care of Snoopy regardless of her mood. When she got a bit too hyper and made a mess of herself during an appointment, they cleaned her up for me and even wrapped the soiled kennel bedding, providing me with one of their own towels for her to rest on for the trip home. Sadly, I am moving out of state after visiting Metro Vet for over a year now. Snoopy (and her newly-adopted brother) will be making a final visit to Metro Vet for the travel certificates. I wish I could take the vet with me, because it seems that - for me, anyway - a really good one has been hard to find. Thank you, Metro Vet. You will be missed.

Weve been seeing Dr. LaFave since we moved to Chicago a year ago. Our dog had a recurring problem late last year and we came in to see Dr. LaFave a few times. We were worried our pup would have to undergo an expensive surgery if it didnt get better, but Dr. LaFave was very compassionate and made sure to explore a few options before we had to pursue surgery. We found a solution that works so needless to say, we were relieved. Metro Vet is open everyday until 10PM, which is incredibly convenient. They have a great online pet portal system, and they also email invoices and records, making it easy to keep track of your pets history. Each time after a visit, we receive a follow-up phone call for a status update. I once left a message with the receptionist with a question/concern for Dr. LaFave, and Dr. LaFave returned the phone call to speak with me personally. Their exam fees ($65 per visit, a bit less for a follow up) and most of their services are comparable for the area. My dog did have a minor eye infection that I brought her in for once, and the cornea scratch test and eyedrops were way more expensive than I anticipated. That was the only time Ive ever been shocked by the price of my visit. A minor complaint is that I almost always have to wait when I come in, even when I have an appointment. Luckily they have a ton of fun dog photography books and magazines in the lobby for us to flip through.

I moved to the Chicago area relatively recently, and of course that was when my senior dog started getting sick. I had a series of really bad experiences at another vet before a friend from out of state recommended Metropolitan Veterinary Center, as she worked with a vet tech that had worked with Dr. Jacobs. They are worth the drive! They are convenient in many ways. Free and easy access parking. Clean and spacious waiting area, with a separate area for cats. They have weekend and late hours, so you dont have to take off work to visit the vet. Their prices are very reasonable. When my dog needed a dental, I did price comparisons. Metros standard fee is cheaper than competitors "dental discount month" fee. I was really anxious before the procedure, having a senior dog with kidney disease. However, Dr. Jacobs made sure to provide plenty of fluids, so that when my dog came home she was acting normal post-anesthesia. My dog needed an ultrasound and that was also reasonably priced. I like that they can provide advanced care, rather than having to refer me out. In appointments, I really appreciated that Dr. Jacobs listened to what I had to say when I gave her updates on my dogs status. She was gentle and thorough with my dog. Appointments never felt rushed. On several occasions I have called or emailed questions. They have gotten back to me in a very timely manor.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MetroVet. Metrovet was recommended to me by a friend when my long time family vet closed unexpectedly. I have a dog with several illnesses so was so worried about how it would be transitioning to a new vet who didnt know my pets history. Dr. Jacobs and her team welcomed me and my dog Minxy and have continued to make us feel comfortable. Since I started going to MetroVet I had 2 instances where I had to hospitalize my dog. When something like that happens especially with a senior pet there were so many things going through my head. Should I just let her go? Am I selfishly keeping her here? Dr. Jacobs not only cared for and successfully treated Minx but she also really calmed me and assured me that I would know the right thing to do. She never pressured me to go either way just gave me the facts and the assurance that I would know what was right for Minx. Minx just returned from the hospital yesterday after a bad case of pancreatitis. Everyone there was so supportive and sweet from start to finish. They genuinely care about the animals they are treating and to me that is more important than the medical care they give. Any vet can perform check ups, surgeries, and give diagnosis but it takes a fabulous vet to show compassion and understanding to animals and their owners. I am so glad I found MetroVet.

I am so thankful for the entire team at Metropolitan Vet Center. I had moved to a new neighborhood and had not yet found a new vet. I came home from a business trip to find my cat incredibly sick and in need of medical care right away. I had called two other neighborhood vets explaining the situation and neither could accommodate or even give any guidance. I finally found Metro online and called them. I explained my situation and the lady who answered the phone was very patient with me. She gave great advice and found a way to fit us in same day. Once we got there a tech came to look at Colby, my cat, right away. They assured us that he is ok to sit with us while we wait for the Dr. The doctor and her team were so loving with Colby even in his discomfort and irritable attitude. They did everything to make him comfortable. They examined him thoroughly and came to talk to us about his diagnosis as well as a treatment plan. Prior to giving him treatment they confirmed that it was in our budget as well as giving us a recommendation on a diet to avoid the issue moving forward. This plan helped and had Colby back to normal in a week! I cannot thank the team enough! This is now our primary care facility for Colby and again they are always willing to work with my calendar and to accommodate for Colbys needs!
